- The race for the first pushrod Top Fuel Nitro Harley V-Twin run is on and one team leading nitro drag bike racing is the unique parallel twin combination know as the “Beast” all the way from Sweden. During the Man Cup Finals at NHRA’s South Georgia Motorsports Park we caught up with team “Beast” to give us a tour of the supercharged, innovative motorcycle and engine, followed by some Super Twin / Top Fuel Harley drag racing. Watch the Beast click off a career best 6.18, inching closer to the elusive five-second zone and a pushrod, twin Top Fuel Motorcycle drag racing world record. Come with us as we meet the team, Per Bengtsson, former Ray Price Nitro Harley racer Tommy Grimes his fiancé Rachel Pridemore and more. Enjoy and share this close look at a truly one of a kind motorcycle. All congrats goes to Jaska Salakari and teammate for running a five second V-twin pass with his unique over head cam machine. The race to do it with pushrods is still on.

That is one sweet Swedish ride!!!👍👍
I absolutely love that thumpy twin sound!!!😍
Fell in love with this bike way back at Tierp. No bike shakes the stands and even the ground like this one.
Love that machine. Per Bengtsson is a genius. In Europe, the Bentec transmissions are legends for being indestructible.
Meanwhile, 3 riders over here in the 5 sec. zone on twins; all 3 from Finland on Finnish Salakari bikes!
Could watch and listen to the beast all day long
Wow, with nearly the half of displacement, great power and pull! Respekt for this engineering !! alex, Germany
Very innovative bike and engine design in particular. Really a nicely built race bike. And this is from an old turbo racer from the early 80's. My older brother loves his 56' Harley chopper that he's owned for about 50 years, and he'll love this video, I'm sure. Just sent it to him. Thanks Jack.
This Machine Sound´s so awesome in Hockenheim in the past!! I love it
Wild-sounding machine. Cool how the cylinder orientation, crank profile, and firing order can result in such different tones from engines even with the same number of cylinders and displacement. While I love the sound of a single-pin-crank V-twin, there is no denying "The Beast" makes beautiful noise when at full send...
Great vid and a beautiful bike, thanks for sharing.
The only bike I have ever felt shake the ground. ....hope to see you soon again give us those good vibrations.
I also captured a lot of great launch videos of the beast in south Georgia. It is like no other bike! Jack your videos are always great, although UA-cam is almost unwatchable now that there are commercials at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of 10 minute videos. There are actually less commercials on TV.
What an awesome ride!! Bucket list for me
WOW love the channel keep it coming
Thinking outside the box I love it.
Getting to watch more and nice
Jessie James doesn't watch Cycle Drag? How is that even possible? Love your videos Jack, you're enthusiasm always makes this a fun channel to watch.
Thanks biddy for the video reallly coool
That parallel twin sounds amazing
ESANDMF
That bike 🏍 💥 is knarly with the flames shooting 🔫 both sides 🔥 4:45 the front wheel staying up wow 👍 9:00 what a legend 👏
NEATO. Have a nice day all. CHEERS from AUSTRALIA.
That's a lot of metal slamming up and down in there!
From the even pulses, it sounds like a 360* crank which is typical for large parallel twins. The 180* units tend to twist their cranks and rock a bit when things get big and heavy. Not sure how a 270* crank would fair at those levels, they are common on newer big twins, but this doesn't have that distinct sound so Im guessing its 360*.
Steve po look up john deere g pulling tractors built to 1005ci on 180* firing order, mine doesnt twist anything but tire sidewalls
It's only a 100ci engine. The magic is in fuel and supercharging. But it's actually not a lot of metal slamming around.
Great Video Jack keep up the great work 👏👏👌🏻👍 ps please could you send me some cycle drag sickers to England yours faithfully Chris 👍
Cool, very interesting
Lovely sound, that twin 😍!
Ok who else wants to see a v-4 made out of two of those ?
i dont think any bike frame could handle that power XD would have to be in a car at that point
Engine would shake itself to death unless ot was a 90° V, and that's a lot of real estate to manage for weight transfer.
Yay! Go Swedes! Heja Växjö !
Gees, that thing launches hard.
Wow that is awesome
Thanks for watching. What do you ride?
lovely tickover!
The mighty parallel twin!
Damn this makes me wish they would have a made a 4 stroke yamaha banshee twin we would have seen a bunch of crazy twin builds on quads
Wow, a bike that's not a V-twin. Oh, wait a minute, bikes that are not V-twins have existed outside the USA for many decades. Those H-Ds are not H-Ds at all, they are just an engine that happens to be based on that ancient design that came about purely because H-D wanted to make a twin, thought a V would be nice, and could only fit one of 45° in the frame. Ducati on the other hand, wanted 90° and didn't care that their front cylinder stuck out through the front of the frame when they went from singles to twins. Across the pond, Triumph, Norton, and BSA were making parallel twins and this bike is based on those designs as much as the H-D drag bikes are based on H-Ds. We don't know what the crank angle on this bike is and on an engine that runs for just a few seconds, it may not be that important. As for its cylinder layout, it could just as easily be an opposed twin like a BMW but what's important is American's reaction to something that's not American. "Is that even possible?". "How long has this been going on for ?" Priceless.
100cbi. That blower must be really working its butt off. Badass bike
Den såg fin ut
Just a little secret for this bike from one who builds Supercharged Harleys, the Beast needs more air in his throttle bodies. There is a formulary that I just wouldn't like to reveal at this time. I was 220 lbs on my V Rod Muscle Supercharged and Suzuki Busters couldn't touch me. I have redesigned my system and now looking to go against the Supercharged Kawasaki! Ok. I also lost 30 pounds because the V Rod is heavy so, I have every intention of putting it on a diet. I think Beast is awesome and super quick at 100 inches. I am also 70 years old!
Hey Jack, how bout more information on the Beast like, the motor and the reason NHRA doesn't accept it because it's not commercially available to us motor heads!
Chop a Japanese 4 in half lol.
Lovee drag ....
No mention of the fact it's by far the loudest bike on the property? You could have included the part when you were interviewing McBride in his trailer and they were warming the Beast up outside and he commented on it.
Link that video pls ...
@@tommyohman7011 That might have been on Facebook live, Jack Korpella has it somewhere, it'd be up to him.
So that's where the engine to my GS 500 went!
HELL YEAH !!!!
That thing will haul the mail. It sounds better than a Harley
Thanks for the vids
I want that motor!!!
Is this the reincarnation of the ' Hogslayer '.
I remember thst bike
Awesome... Is a Understatement " Reverse Engineering" Maybe Better 💥🤔💥 This is the Most Unusal Machine I've Ever Seen... 💥🇸🇪💥
The exhaust flame makes it look like the bike is flapping it's wings
Did I miss something ? parallel twin based on who's motor?
I realize that it's all one off custom built, but is it based off of any production design?
similar to a Triumph, an XS650, or a KZ750B...all factory parallel twins to name a few older bikes.
Good question!
Is that time 1/8th mile or 1/4 mile?
What engine is the twin from? Or is it afully custom powerplant??
Is Tommy from the Dade City, Florida area?
Talk about Street Sweeper Exhaust😳
Would make a great hill climbing motor
anyone know what the degree offset on firing is?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straight-twin_engine
@@tedk2166 can't see it, is it 180o, 270o,360o or even 294o ?
@@dogpaw775 dont worry, it doesn't even remotely answer your question..
Good question! My answer would definitely be 360! They may have a different set up but if you look at past successful in lines, like in F 1 racing and especially BMW, made big time Horsepower for relatively small displacement engines before they changed over to v 6 and I think this is why the Best sounds different over the vertical twin. Just my guess?
What is this motor based on and bike
Someone please send this to yammie noob 😂
Just called it inline 2 as supposed to inline 3, inline 4. What you called a 3 parallel or parallel 4.
What's this engine based off ???
Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaark yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwww
6:18 for Tommy Grimes
How about an inline 4
It’s a 100cid Chrysler Hemi !! Red Line is by far the best oil in this planet
🇸🇪👍
So is it essentially a V4?
It's a 2 cylinder side by side instead of a V. Think of a typical 4 banger engine cut in half.
How much horse power does the beast make
Bout 1000~1100. The rule goal was parity with nitro Harleys, and that's about what they make, so this should be the same.
@@slowpoke96Z28 You can add another 400hp. The name on the bike is not a joke....
@@larsprojtz2000 im going off what Larry McBride and a couple others say. Id need a dyno sheet to call them dudes wrong by that much.
@@slowpoke96Z28I'm a great fan of Larry McBride and respect his experience and knowledge on this issue However, it's not possible to run 6,18 with an engine at 100 cu in unless it's extremely high power and torque. I won't argue on the subject, but my figure is adequate and reliable, even if I won't enclose a test protocol.
just another engine blowing those Harleys in the dust!
05:24 good girl
🙂
So where's the 5 seconds?
He I believe,
has already run 5. 58 but couldn't repeat.
Not Jaaska Salkari Yes Jaska Salakari
Fixed, Thanks!
Greetings to Jaska from Red&White Drag Race Team Holland !!
Is that a HEMI ?
Thats just flat out wrong lol. Whats the firing order ? Is that 180º ?
Ljuva toner...och Svenskar till på köpet...
Three road is tricycle.
How the hell
I was hoping to see the first five second Twin here but didn't! (Click bait)
Well, not really clickbait, did you not see the '?' and this may all be true in the very near future.
@@raynic1173 Thank you Ray. Yes that was exactly the intent.
Please note the question mark. I have done a series of videos on those who are the closest and am asking the fans who will do it. Trust me when in happens, I'll have it covered.
@@cycledrag It may technically wasn't 'clickbait' but it was being 'Hi-Jack-ed', ha-ha! (sneaky little devil)
@@cycledrag thanks Jack, I'm a subscriber and watch every video regardless of the title. Keep up the great work 👍
The swed knows his shit
A small engine twin about 100 cubic inch......what is that 1500cc......yeah small.
galet bygge
So what happened to the 5 second pass very disappointed clickbait
Please note the question mark. I have done a series of videos on those who are the closest and am asking the fans who will do it. Trust me when in happens, I'll have it covered.
Enough with the Jesse James bit.
Lol, nitro comes in after full throttle. .'
Click baited:( very sad
gym shoe very very interesting I find these kind of machines incredible but seeing a 5 would of been kind blowing! That’s still a fast f*cking machine
Holding on and screaming like a girl
By far the most boring kind of motorcycle racing.
🤦🏻♂️ Ahh sure whatever you say youngster.
Clearly shows you've never been there
