This is by far the best potato-growing tutorial I have found. Thank you for such a thorough and easy-to-understand video. I have planted my first container potato crop this year and this was very informative. 🙏
Thank you so so so much for your video how to grow potatoes.I planted my2 potatoes cut in 6 piece( yellow potatoe) and got beautiful results, thank you for your videos on growing potatoes.
Wow thank you love every thing I learned from this video I am glad to know how to start to growing and keeping watching the leaves come out learning how to put the soil in every time you see the leaves coming out thank you I’ve learned that so far I live in apartment in New York City I have a small balcony plenty of sun like a good 6 to 7 hours of sun Question when is it a good time to start growing potatoes I like a 5 or 10 gallon Maybe for my self because I am in a wheelchair I would love to have some thing nice to do specially like this When I do start I would definitely shear my video with you sir thank you for sharing your video with us winfield family members
I also live in NYC and it does work. I planted Yukon and the multicolored fingerlings..Home Depot also sells starter potatoes for half price when they start sprouting eyes
I love watching people digging up potatoes, sweet potatoes, cassava...feels like watching people digging up gold, LoL. That's quite a satisfying harvest you got there! I'm going to try this too, although I think the climate here isn't good for potatoes (sea level, dry, tropical of Sumatra Island). I want to dig my own gold!!! 😤😆 Wish me luck!!!
I watched a guy plant his potatoes in the same part of the ground for 30 years. Funny thing is,he still gets lots of potatoes. You don’t need all that mix. Compost does the same job as I did it over lock down. Trial and error.
the youtuber is right in what he said though. Crop rotation and some measure of plant variety is necessary if you want a healthy garden. Otherwise soil-borne diseases and specific mineral deficiencies start accumulating. The citrus tree farmers of the US had your mentality for centuries until a massive spree of disease took them by surprise and in a couple of years they are a shadow of what they once were. Breed 1 crop in the same 1 place and expect failure, nature craves for variety!
If your area gets hot summers than they will rot during hot days ....so it is better to harvest all potatoes at once n save some for next planting season
Awesome video, just what I needed. Thank you, my friend. Honestly, the tip about feeling if the soil was dry to know when to water blew my mind. Who wouulda thought it... lol. J/K For real, though, the video taught me exactly what I needed to know. Guess I'm growin' potatoes now.
Apparently mounding/hilling is pretty unnecessary for 95% of potato varieties… only rare long season potato varieties (indeterminate) will actually set tubers vertically up the stem….the rest just set a few tubers horizontally around the original seed potato.
I plan to grow potatoes to. In my country they said it's hard to grow them as our wheather isn't suited for planting potatoes but some do succeeds. So i wanna try. Cuz now its not rainy season so i hope i succeed. I am gonna buy potatoes today so they can grow bit of those eyes then i'll try putting them in a plastic bag. Hopelly 😂 i succeed. Just bit nervous haha
@@urbangardeningofficial Half August till November we have the hot season but the wheather is changed, it have rain so it's not that hot. Usually it's between 24°C till 33 or 34° celcius. Do u maybe think i could succeed growing potatoes?
Cattle manure or vermicompost in the starting with the soil mix and as we add more soil use same mix .....you can also use sea weed extract n rock dust after every 18 days
You can grow a tomato and potato together take a extra potato and plant in a small pot and after it grow cut it stem for a graft. Cut tomato stem too and make graft on potato root with tomato plant and have chips and sauce

My boyfriend is getting an apartment and we're thinking about all the costs to buy food and I've thought about growing food since he already hunts and fishes. My bf and I live in Texas and I'm nervous about because of the heat, we might as well not try before we even get started.
Hello fantastic videos. I am a very new beginner and I love the ways you explain every things. When you speak about pests diseases and spraying with neem oil and chilly extract.... Is that chilly extract that we can buy for cooking in the kitchen or a specific product for gardening? Is that same formula will be ok for every vegetables plants and flowers?
The plants which I buy from nurseries have many flowers and buds at their arrival and eary days after planting, but later only leaves remain and they keep on growing and growing, for example bouganvillea and different roses that I have havent bloomed from last 4 to 5 months, what to do, I used many fertilisers also ):
Many rose varieties don’t flower all the time, only flowering for a particular season, usually spring but it can vary,(sometimes multiple seasons depending on the rose variety and weather conditions). Roses also need to be pruned after the flower season finishes, usually the start of winter. Suggest you look up videos about how to care for, when / how to prune and dead head roses. Thanks for a very informative tutorial, I've got a question.
Can the potatoe soil be reused for growing more potatoes or other vegetables?
Yes sure ...just add some compost and plant another batch
If you leave some potatoes in the ground, will they grow more on their own next season? Are the perennial? Edit: Oh, and thanks for the info.
That's how potatos grow in the wild, season after season. But the yield would not be as good as cultivated ones.
