  • Hopefully marginally better than the drivel on TV this Christmas. Marvel as I bodge together some parts to get the 24V pump working on the 12V heater.
    Actual heater video to follow in the New Year.

The man has even actually dissected them so we can see what they are like while running within with his see through cylinder head invention :) Merry Christmas to you and him :)

    I like to use very thin solder and just wrap the wires, then touch the iron to it. Of course I dip the unsoldered wires in flux first. It's my lazy way

    @David McLuckie - Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays! Really appreciate the hydronic diesel heater videos! That said, if you're looking to add aome additional content (in the near future) I would be extremely interested in seeing videos that show any/all aftermarket heater control units, which offer/feature daily or weekly 24/7 programable On/Off timer settings. Also would like to see any/all aftermarket 2-way remote controls that can operate the heaters from a distance via a keyfob or a cellphone... with and without the need for a SIM card. All the best to you and your family in the New Year!!

    The TV has been worse this year than ever before. The BBC has been pumping out repeats all year and ironically it's not like Xmas every day. It's just watching BBC programs that we paid for many years ago. I haven't turned on normal TV on for years. It's like chewing gum for the eyeballs. I'm happy to watch Netflix & Prime. But it's most watching YT these days.

    Hello David.
    I would be interested in knowing how many companies in China are the real manufacturers. Lots of sellers call themselves manufacturers, but they may be just assemblers of components. I think it would be a good selling feature to offer units which have had Burn In. I have had the DOA expérience already, it being a education, but can be a hassle if you really need it. I have come to the conclusion that new buyers should purchase 2 units. Save time and hassle, and still a deal, maybe.

    • @DavidMcLuckie
      @DavidMcLuckie  2 роки тому

      That's a good question. For example (not picking on them) a certain fruit based phone manufacturer. They don't build all the parts, they just have them assembled. Does that then not make them a manufacturer? In regards to the heaters, you'd have the castings made by a specialised aluminium casting company, the motor made a by a company that specialises in motors, etc. Then you put all the parts together in your factory. If you are building cheap heaters you pick all the cheapest parts, throw them together and fire them out the door. If you make a higher quality heater then you go higher quality parts and test a heater before it ships. But I doubt any of them make all their own parts in house.

A nice big radiator with pipe connected to the bottom at each end then out through the wall…

  • @FluffleValveExpress

    Hi Dave, I love to watch your experimental videos and the general just see if it does what it says on the tin. Having watched a few videos, I'm interested in how you wire-yourself-up? I noticed that you have a mic attached to the overalls and a fixed camera to wherever you need it, but how do you get it all recorded so soundly onto a hard drive? Do you have a screen somewhere, where you can see what you are doing yourself? I've done a few videos, but this is with a phone camera/video and I rely on the mic on the phone. Then there is keeping it all still and not waving about all over the place. So, please describe how you do it with all the wiring, etc. Please keep it in simple terms as you are talking to a bloke that has never had a CD player in his car, let alone a hard drive or music stick or whatever. I still play cassette tapes or just listen to the wireless. I'm a spanner/hammer man, so modern-day technical stuff washes straight over me. Maybe you could make a video on how you are wired up?
    Cheers,
    Armine John Hutt.

    • @DavidMcLuckie
      @DavidMcLuckie  2 роки тому +2

      Well. :) The easy part is the hardware. I've got a video camera (Panasonic HC-VX870) and that records onto an SD-card directly. It's got a good sized screen on it I can flip around to see what my shot looks like. My microphone is a lapel mic plugged into a K&F Concept CM-10 wireless transmitter, the receiver is mounted on the camera. All sat upon a Manfrotto tripod they don't make any more.
      The second part is the editing. Which I enjoy almost as much as playing in the workshop. I use Adobe Creative Cloud. Edit videos in Premiere and fix the audio in Audition. I've gotten fairly good at it, nothing too fancy though.

    Have one of the Chinese diesel air/water heaters just like this heating my hot water (motorised ball valve, relay logic and thermostats to prevent disaster). Only part i dislike is that the controller has no ambient air thermostat, just 5 fixed power settings (unlike the other Chinese heaters). The awsome Ausi afterburner is not compatible with the 'ECU/heater board' unfortunately.
    Does the controller used here have a thermostat, know where I can get hold of it or is it a cool DIY job of yours?
    many thanks. keep it coming :)

    • @DavidMcLuckie
      @DavidMcLuckie  2 роки тому +1

      This one no, just different power levels. You do have the option of swapping the entire ECU out for a stock version and then using the Afterburner. I'm sure there would even be a way to use the GPIO on the Afterburner to turn a water pump on and off.

    Hi David hope your well. Can you answer me this question does the fuel pump shut off in the non powerd state against back flow. How far away is the heater from the battery, and what size cable are you running? If you unplug the big connector block and take a voltage reading there, does it match the battery voltage. I've had a few people have the problem of using a long length of thin cable and the voltage drop being large enough that the heater browns out.
