Graduated from there this past May. Got my 4 year degree in 1 year 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
You know how cool it is then!
@@CollegeHacked absolutely 💯%. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made!
@@missdesireindependance5194 thank you 😊
@Bikes Congratulations. I'm considering both UMPI and WGU for my master's next year. Leaning towards WGU, but not sure just yet.
Was it hard? Also, how much was it?
UMPI is not proctored, which is great for me. I do a lot for traveling and most of the places I go do not have good internet (stable), and from what I understand I don't think my room or where ever I am would be suitable for a proctored test.
That’s the beauty of this uni
Hey! Thanks so much for this content! I just got my degree audit from UMPI today. I think I'm going with them over WGU even though they're accepting 10 less credits 😊
*Edit: UMPI accepted all my credits
Smart move!
@@CollegeHacked Thank you! 😊
How is umpi going so far
@evandersoriano4308 Hi its fantastic, 7 courses left and I'm done!
@@Theresa_52 do you have an email or source I can contact you ? I have more questions as I’m really thinking about applying
I did my BA and my MA with YourPace on their Strut platform. Currently working on my doctorate at Virginia University of Lynchburg.
Your number of submissions is probably the most I've seen for the BA classes. Brightspace looks like a good future for them!
Awesome! Thanks for the insight for other viewers!
And, yeah, I tend to overdo it.
So great
@Bikes Really liked it. A lot of writing for sure. When I took it I had Dr. Biron for the Foundations course. Holy shit, that was the hardest course I ever took. I don't regret it. It's easily 3-4 courses in one. Once you're past foundations you're just building on top of it for the other classes. The capstone/thesis was done with Dr. Biron again. So you got the same guy for the beginning and end. Really cool transformation. It's a lot of information but it forces you to change how you think about leadership.
@Bikes Does it help you accomplish a goal you have? If so, I really like the program. if it's just a vanity thing (i.e. just want to have it to have it), there are few cheaper, easier ways to get that master's. :)
I'm interested in 'how', in an online course focused on communication skills like public speaking, the learner can simulate overcoming performance anxiety if the final submission does not have a live audience. I'm a graduate of the University of Southern Maine, and I applaud this approach to learning as long as it can replicate real-world situations.
Some people may always work remotely and not ever really need to perfect public speaking in front of large audiences. But for those who do, they’ll need to find that practice outside of a CBE program. Valid point!
You are amazing man,thank you.
Thank you too!
Congratulations 🎈🎊🎉🍾
Hi Cliff,
Can you create an updated video for UMPI
It’s on the way!
Your videos are very helpful. Q1.) Does UMPI online require you to purchase textbooks or anything else in addition to the $1400 per 8 week tuition? Q2.) I notice the course requires doing Powerpoint presentations, etc/ using Microsoft products, which can be expensive. Does UMPI give students online access to these programs or are we left to figure it out/buy it for ourselves? Q3.) re: Sophia credits or any other transferrable credits - do they expire at any point? Must they be taken and transferred within a specific time frame? Thank you for answering in advance.
Good questions:
1. Not that I'm aware of.
2. Based on my research, I think they have a contract with Microsoft for faculty and students to get those products.
3. No. The only exception would be if a school would only take recent transfer credits, and that's at a school's prerogative. I don't think you'll have to worry about that at UMPI.
If you want more help, sign up for a consult with us: www.collegehacked.com. I promise these answers are 1% of how helpful we can be. ;)
They took 113 credits. and told me I need 16 classes to finish,, which seems high to me. But basically this is like taking classes from Sophia.
It’s likely the major you chose, Liberal Studies management would be best!
Can you see all of the milestone assignments/instructions for a class at once before starting? Or do you have to submit one milestone in order to see the next one.
Have to submit for the next to open
Do classes still follow these structures going into 2025? Trying to decide between UMPI and UMGC. I am a Maryland resident it I’m also a bad test taker and would like to realistically graduate in 2 years with a degree in business. I have GED (my high school grades were bad I barely got by lol) and some community college.
Yep! Same structure. If you don’t like tests, UMPI is likely a better fit. Plus they have the soft submission option so you can get feedback on your finals before they are graded.
I’m currently enrolled at SNHU. If I wanted transfer to UMPI, would you recommend I knock out courses with Sophia before enrolling at UMPI?
We do advise that, but you don’t have to do that :) The main reason is because both UMPI and the hacking platforms are subscription based, so it’s best to use your full effort toward one at a time. Hacking first is nice because then when you start at the school you’re down to your last ten classes!
@@CollegeHacked so would starting with just Sophia before going to UMPI be the best route, or just go in full time with UMPI?
@@JR-xs4ixIf all other factors are equal, we advise starting with Sophia, then UMPI last :)
Will umpi accept my college algebra and intro to stats course from Sophia?
Indeed :)
This is so cool!! Great work!!!
Thanks!
I contacted them in mid-December, submitted my transcript, and was informed that I missed the deadline for the January semester. They advised me to wait until mid-March. However, it has been a month, and my transcript has not been processed yet. I am concerned about the slow processing, and it raises questions about whether they will also be slow with handling tests and exams. The girl in admission was very rude too!
They have certainly been dealing with some growing pains. Thankfully, some changes have been made recently that we hope will lead to shorter wait times for evals and hopefully less overwhelmed employees :) Some are able to live with the current drawbacks UMPI is working to fix, and some aren’t. If you’re feeling uneasy about the school there are certainly other options!
Your videos on the Yourpace program have been immensely helpful. As someone who loves public speaking, I'm definitely taking the course you created even if it's not related to my major. My only question is based on the comment section. I keep seeing comments about Sophia courses or Sophia credits. What is Sophia? Do I have to affiliate with it in some way in order to complete my degree with UMPI? I have 81 credits which I completed at my former state university. Thanks again for all your help!
This video is a little outdated, but it explains it well: ua-cam.com/video/Gbw1YhT-05w/v-deo.html. Sophia can help you finish super fast by earning credits from outside UMPI to fill in the gaps and bring your UMPI required credits down to just 30. If they accept all 81 of yours into your degree plan and you only have 39 left, you could use Sophia too, but you might not really get much benefit from it.
Is it advisable to apply, turn in all previous college transcripts, get a degree plan audit and then see what courses you can take on sophia to make it cheaper, or is this not an option? If it's not an option how do I know what courses to take on Sophia that transfer and that I do not already have credit for through local community college? I applied to WGU and they used very little of my classes as transfer credit. Mind you I'm just trying to get a Bachelor's so I can have that on my resume so looking for easiest and fastest option.
I've helped a LOT of people who say basically what you just said. Here's what I'd do:
1. If you have fewer than 45 credits, just guess where they'll fit into the degree and start hacking based on best guesses.
2. If you have more than 45 credits, transfer it in and see what will fit. Then start hacking.
WGU is a rough school to pick for people who have transfer credits because once you transfer to them, they stop taking more credit so you can't really hack more. And they have no free electives, so you can't hack much of the degree either sometimes.
If you're looking for competency-based course models, I'd check out UMPI. And as always I'm happy to walk you through this stuff in a consult: www.collegehacked.com.
Hey, thanks for this school review.
If Im able to commit about an hour per day to school. Will this still be ok for me with the pace learning program at UMPI? Also, is most of the material watching videos, or is it mostly reading the materials and then answering the questions? Thank you, brother.
Slow progress is better than no progress! You should still be able to finish at least 2 classes in an 8 week term with that amount of time, which puts your per credit hour rate at $283. Still really good price wise, will just take a bit of time.
@CollegeHacked Thank you. Ive completed 4 Sophia courses in under 2 weeks so far.
How many active courses we have at a time at UMPI....?

@@CollegeHacked After the completion of final assessment, we have to wait for professor marking OR automatically another course opens???
@@CollegeHacked I mean that next course automatically opens after submition of assessment??

You can move on once the final is submitted
Hey hey! I’m considering UMPIs Organizational leadership masters degree. Do you know if classes are set up the same way as their bachelors programs? I’m liking to accelerate and wondering if closed modules will limit my abilities. Also is that their only online masters degree program? Lastly, they don’t require proctored exams at all, right? Any info is greatly appreciated!
Yes, the MAOL is YourPace, so set up like the bachelors! It's their only master's for now, but they are planning to add more in the coming years :) No exam proctoring!
im currently enrolled at umpi today is my first day i have finished 2 classes already is there a way i can accelerate my progress or do i have to wait on my instructors?
Need to wait for instructors. Good progress!
Not good enough
How many hours a day are you committing to this school work?
How is it in terms of actually getting a job? Will employers really value it and see u as a competent person for the offer? I know a lot of companies still have a lot of prejudice with this kind of degrees
You’d be surprised :) There’s really not much of a difference between online and residential in the eyes of employers. It’s just a checkbox these days.
I'm considering going for a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Management. Could you
help me out by providing a worksheet that lists the courses from Sophia, CLEP, and StraighterLine that
UMPI accepts for credit? Also, I'm wondering whether I should start by enrolling in courses at Sophia,
CLEP, or StraighterLine, or if it's better to reach out to UMPI first to register. Any advice you can offer
would be greatly appreciated.
Yes, we do provide charts of which classes to take for the major you choose :) You can sign up for a consultation with us to get the chart at collegehacked.com! 😃
If you finish all required courses before the end of the term, do they give you your degree right away? Or do you have to wait for the end of the term? Asking because i want to apply to an accelerated nursing program with a specific deadline and you need a bachelor's degree for that.
Unless they are able to agree to a special circumstance, they don’t confer your degree immediately. Once you finish your last assignment the professors have a deadline by which to grade and post final grades for their courses. Once those are in, the registrar has a date by which they verify your paperwork, then there’s a conferral date after that. They usually have a system/timeline for batching them, so it might be only a few weeks after you finish, but it’s not typically within the same week you finish.
Maybe the nursing program will accept you contingent on a passing final grade, this is often how grad programs work-especially if they are looking to fill seats. Nursing is usually a competitive major though, so they may not need to loosen the policies in that way to fill seats. Definitely worth an ask :)
Does UMPI require a proctor for their assements or milestones?
Nope. :)
Thanks for this! Is this similar to the WGU competency based courses? I'm halfway through my online master's at Amberton but am considering pivoting to a competency based school. I originally chose Amberton because there was no capstone (the capstone at TESU for my BA nearly killed me lol) but now thinking of doing an MBA.
Yes, it’s CBE! But at the masters level they only offer one option at the moment-Organizational Leadership.
Does umpi go with a pass/fail system or is it a GPA based?
They accept transfer credits at pass/fail but their own courses are GPA based.
Can you do a video on doctoral online programs? I’m seeing programs that say 3 years online. Touro University specifically
3 years online is not unrealistic though I'd question some of the quality. A doctoral program is a lifetime achievement. If you at all can, I'd really recommend a school that meets in person or at least has a few required in person events/courses every year. You'll get waaaaaay more out of it and enjoy it more.
Do UMPI charge out of state fees for the your pace program?
Well a counselor from there said no. But I haven't signed up yet.
@@blaqt107 oh ok.
They do not. :)
What happens if someone gets 2 in a rubric's part? Do they have to start all over again from the beginning or do they just need to re-submit the assignment just after grading?
Typically just fix the lacking portion and submit for grading, if we’re talking about feedback on soft submission.
@@CollegeHacked How about the final submission? Not the soft submission or the draft one.
I really like the reasons to learn that are included. That makes everything just make more sense.
Agreed!
Is this a great school for those with learning disabilities? As most times testing is a difficult task. What school would you recommend for those that cannot test and need or want to write more for finally assignments.
This is not a great school if you don't want to write. There are exams and writing assignments. But, their ADA department is actually on point in getting some finals adjusted for me to not have to speak
I would say the amount of writing will really depend on what major you want to get. Lots of majors just are going to have a lot of writing especially in an online format where writing is the easiest means of communication. At the same time, UMPI has fewer assignments per course than most schools and there's not much of a deadline, so that might be a point in favor of them.
@@CollegeHacked do you know if they accept credits from nationally accredited colleges. Im six months from graduating with my associates in business. Looking for a college to transfer too.
@@missdesireindependance5194 Generally, nationally accredited credits will have a hard time making it into a regionally accredited institution, but it's 100% worth a try!
My question is . I didn’t do any Sophia nor have any previous college credits but I can start fresh on January 16th or should I wait until March and take the Sophia route ?
Wait and take the Sophia route :)
@@CollegeHackedhow long without any credits or Sophia will it take to get my bachelors. I’m trying to finish in a year max!😂😁😁
@@felest2640It’s possible in a year, just requires a lot of hours.
@@CollegeHacked I have 30 hours a week for school! You think this is doable to get my bachelors in a year with no prior credits?!😭
Do you recommend a BS at umpi that does not require a lot of writing assigments or less than others? If i not done a powerpoint do you have recomendations. Thanks
That's a tricky one, and probably better answered in a consultation with us. We'd love to help you find a degree at UMPI that would fit your learning style (there are a few to choose from!). www.collegehacked.com/
I would like to ask if how long each paper for MAOL? I read online that usually like 10 pages each section
True! Graduate degrees definitely require more effort/pages :)
Are all the courses like this?
Does UMPI let you test out of classes? Do they have anything similar to TESU where you can pay a fee and have that test count as credit needed to fulfill your 30 credit minimum??
They are similar to Western Governor University. I may take some clep or Sophia courses but not much.
I love this question, and the answer is that they are better than that. Instead of testing out, their very course system is a testing out system except that they give you the full study materials and an opportunity to reattempt the test.
@@CollegeHacked Should student test out before or during enrollment?
@@missdesireindependance5194 With WGU, before. With UMPI, I'd do 60 credits before, and the other 30 between terms.
I think something is wrong with your youtube algorithm. There are several times I have searched for your content, but other (poorly done) videos pop up instead. I frequently have to type in 'College Hacked' or search your page specifically, even though your videos are the best content available on this subject IMO.
I appreciate you letting me know. I'll do a little more digging. Thanks!
Do you have a hack for a masters program
Not like for undergrad (there isn’t a Sophia type platform for masters credit), but some schools will let you do a portfolio credit option where you submit artifacts and evidence from your work life that demonstrates your competency in certain class content and they give you credit for the class that way. Look into Liberty University, they have a good system for that. Or if you just do a competency based masters, like the master of arts in organizational leadership at UMPI :) 1 year and about ~$11k, depending on how long you take.
Curious how umpi works when it comes to compliancy based and GPAs
The same as a traditional school :) It’s just that your final grade is based only on the final assignment and not a bunch of other busy work. A-F scale
@@CollegeHacked funny you reply when I'm checking out UMPI website. Thank you for the reply. Are you still teaching there?
@@TheDani172I'm not. Too many College Hacked clients were coming through, and I thought it was a weird conflict of interests, so I stepped down, but I miss it!
Quick question, I’m currently a wgu student and I transferred pretty much all my GE through my community college but I didn’t know about Sophia etc before applying to knock out some of the other harder courses. I’m struggling on passing exams at wgu. Do you think it’ll be easier for me to transfer to umpi and knock out as much classes I can through Sophia and other sources before applying ? I just need any bachelors degree.
Most definitely! The drawback to WGU is you can’t transfer in credits after you begin their classes, and they don’t have free elective sections you can fill with Sophia, which costs you time. Check out UMPI’s YourPace major “Liberal Studies Management”
@@CollegeHacked can I transfer my credits from Sophia even after I begins their classes in UMPI. Please advice
@@sammy6484 Yes! You can transfer classes into UMPI before or after you take classes with them.
Can I get a MS program in engineering UMPI in 6 months like WGU
Unfortunately, they only have an Organizational Leadership master's with YourPace.
By the way, I wanted to keep you updated on my experience with UMASS Global. Out of the 110 credits I sent from college and Sophia, they have accepted only 33 credits from my 60 college credits. Out of 50 credits from Sophia, they might accept just 15 credits if I provide them with three different documents, such as a syllabus of each course, etc. So, I recommend not investing your time and money in that option. I am getting very disappointed and sad here!
I've got a big favor to ask here. Can you send me the transcripts and documents they sent you? I'll look over them, and if I see anything I think they got wrong, I'll tell you what to appeal pro bono. We're trying to learn more about UMassG, so this will help us learn too. My email is clifford@collegehacked.com.
But on the website, it says tuition is $404 per credit for out state student, or still like $8k per year.
I think that's the UMPI residential situation, not the YourPace program.
As a professor to both, with the similarities and differences in Online programs, would you prefer UMPI over Liberty?
It depends on the student. If you want to go fast and have things be more convenient and cheaper, I'd go UMPI. If you thrive in an environment where there are more rules and guidelines and have a little more money to spend or want a really specialized major, LUO. Personally, if I was going back to college, I'd go UMPI for an English major or Bachelor in Liberal Studies.
Have you helped anyone from New Zealand and transerring the bachelors degree from UMPI?
Indeed! :) Currently working with a client who was a therapist in NZ but the license doesn't transfer to the US, so he needs a BS and then a masters for licensure. He's doing a Psychology bachelors at UMPI.
@@CollegeHacked thank you for the reply, I should’ve been more specific though. I’m looking to distance learn from NZ and then transfer it to NZ (or have it be recognised) here in NZ. We offer no competency based learning and/or accelerated programs.
@@duhtroit Oh I see what you're saying now. We specialize in US schools, so unfortunately we don't know a thing about hacking in other countries. Sounds like a question for the New Zealand Qualifications Authority :)
Is there a physical graduation ceremony available ?
I believe so!
What happens if you don't pass a class? Do you just retake it, milestones included? OR does it count as a bad grade?
When you finish a class within a session, do you get to register for more right away?
If you don't pass, it does count as an F, and you have to take it in the next term. If you pass or fail a class, you can just hop into the next one right away.
Great info, thanks for posting! I recently graduated from Texas A&M Commerce competency-based Organizational Leadership program. I am interested in UMPI MA in Organizational Leadership. My question: how many “draft” attempts are allowed before submitting for final grade? Thanks again! 7:16
@@suzetteclement5297one draft only before final
Is it available to apply for the postgraduate program(usnews top50) with UMPI BLS degree?
You can apply for anything with anything. :) It's all about making sure you're applying with something that won't hold you back. Look at the admissions requirements of the program you're trying to get into and build backwards.
Is it better to go to a 4-years university rather than 2+2 (transfer) if I’m planning in going to med school?
It's really fine either way. Pick what fits your life right now better.
Does anyone know which Sophia courses will transfer to UMPI?
We do! You can book a consultation at collegeahacked.com. Degree Forum and Wiki are also quite helpful 😉

You take the class again in the following term and it impacts your GPA 👎🏼
Could you please do a video on Fort Hays State University's online bachelor's costing at $226.88/credit and $298.55/credit for Masters..
Will check it out!
Fort Hayes has a very good google review of 4.7; I am curious whether it will be more like SNHU (regular online) or UMPI (Competency Based); I enrolled in SNHU now and the study and assignment need more than 3 hours per day in my case, later I will registered to UMPI which it say no deadline for the assignment, we will see.
I wish UMPI didn't change their platform.
Guess international students can get in?
Yes
Can you do a video on schools like Texas A&M online program and the difference between those programs and online schools? I’m signing up next semester but my toughest decision is choosing between A&M and UMPI, more specifically if A&M hacking a realistic option for a quick and cheap degree?
I really want to meet A&M’s minimum course requirements and use UMPI to fill in the rest is that a possibility?
A&M Commerce is a good online program! I've consulted someone else through hacking it, and I really liked what I saw. The strategy you give in your comment is good, but remember that you can never guarantee what will be accepted at TAMUC.
After I posted this comment I’ve learned a lot more through more of your videos, I have weighed my options and I’ve decided on WGU because of the amount of credits acceptable through courses I appreciate all of the knowledge it is truly priceless.
@@Apollo-ij9bo You're welcome! Have fun at WGU!
@Bikes that’s good to know I appreciate the information and I will certainly take it into consideration I haven’t committed yet but help makes a difference
UMPI won’t tell you what Sophia credit they take unless you send your transcripts. I won’t be applying there for that reason
That's pretty normal.
@@CollegeHacked not the case with SNHU
@@Ag-wu4mi I thought SNHU closed down that service? I know LUO will give you a non-binding transcript evaluation before you apply.

Dose umpi give good letter of recommendation for grad school? I want to go to law school but I’m afraid that I won’t be able to get three letters of recommendation from an online school
You get the recommendation letters from specific individuals, not the school, so yes it is possible :) It’s up to you to forge the relationships needed for quality rec letters though! Which can be a good bit of work in the online environment :)
😃
Wish they has BS programs, too bad they don't
Only difference between a BS and a BA is that a BA requires a foreign language class :)
