I'm at UMPI Doing the BLS and the BLS and first minor is done. What's nice about all the free electives, is you can use that wiggle room to add additional minors. So it allows you to add more "concentrations" for your degree without committing to a whole Major. So my BLS with a minor in MGMT is turning into a BLS with minorS in MGMT, Project MGMT, Business Admin, and Social Studies . Only one goes on your diploma, but they all go on your transcripts.
Preach! So many doors open for the future 😎
That is great congratulations! I'm about to attend in March. So many different areas and believe me diversity is the KEY.
Update , I received my diploma and all 4 minors are printed on the diploma. With the switch to Parchment, I guess as long as it fits they will print it on the diploma.

What if you do the BAS and have Multiple Minors Will they then put that on the Diploma? Is that just BLS specific?

I heard they are planning to add a computer science major to UMPI but so far there hasnt been much information out there about it. Hope they release it next year. Otherwise I might get it a little after my bls degree

@@MGTOWUNIVERSE Actually sent them an email about it earlier this year and the reply I got was this :
"To address your question about a Computer Science program in the YourPace modality, this is a degree that we continue to develop. At this point, I am not certain when we would go live with a CS degree in the YourPace modality."

College Hacked, I enrolled for The BABA degree, but I just read that you wrote that the BABA Degrees are not program accredited. I was under the impression that all the BABA degrees were accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). I was planning on pursuing a master's degree in Florida after completing the BABA degree. Will that be a problem in your opinion?
The whole school is NECHE accredited, but the business program does not have specific ACBSP program accreditation :) You should check with your grad school admissions team to be sure, but it’s unlikely to be a problem.
I found the perfect nursing school for me in my area of course they need prereqs I want to know on the liberal arts am I able to add all the that I can as far as prereqs I need to the my degree I don't mind taking them directly from Umpi because the nursing school doesn't accept ACE . If I have a bachelor's degree it knocks the prereqs to only 30 credits I know I will still have to take Anatomy and Physiology at a brick and motor but I don't want to take two years just doing prereqs
It all depends on the school you’re transferring into :) Check with an advisor there to see if they accept ACE credits like Sophia and Study.
Hey does UM PI make you take 30 credits there or can you transfer in some of those credits from a brick and mortar? It kind of seems like what you were saying, but I’m not sure. Could you answer this when you do your Q&A’s?
Yes, you do need a solid 30 credits from UMPI to graduate. They don’t have a bypass option, like TESU, or the ability for other brick and mortar credits from a previous school to count as part of that 30.
And yeah! This is a good question for the next Q&A :)
What they don't tell you is that the liberal arts degree says 62 electives. But not all are transferred in. I had 92 credit hours transferred into the program. But there is a catch. Their electives have to be 300-400 level programs. Therefore, you would have to complete additional classes through them. And there are too many English, and science courses you have to complete for their general education courses. Which, makes no logical sense. Since the degree is in Arts not Sciences.
I believe it was another 8-9 classes I had to complete as electives through Umpi. Because they wouldn't accept any of my associates degree or Sophia classes as electives into the Bachelor's of liberal studies.
This is a problem we fix routinely :) All UMPI degrees can currently get down to the minimum of 10 classes through the school if ya know how to arrange things! 👏🏼
Is UMPI's Your Pace minimum age requirement of 20 a hard and fast rule?

Are the exams at UMPI proctored? Are they planning to incorporate proctoring? Or is it going be like Sophia Learning?
UMPI doesn’t have exams in their YourPace degrees (the ones we talk about), so no proctoring :) Their finals are papers and projects, and they have milestones like Sophia.
The school sounds so fantastic but the enrollment process isn't the easiest. I got accepted and briefly spoke with someone back in early November but nothing else since. (They said they would call me back) Now after watching this video, I want to pursue the BLS in management. But they currently have me aligned with business administration even though I'm not actually attending the school. I've had so much time to reflect on this that I not only decided to switch from business administration, but I was forced to enroll in more classes at my current school because of the lack of communication. Perhaps, they should hire another enrollment/transcript evaluator given the high demand of your pace.
We are hoping to see improvement very soon! :)
How would the BAS degree w a minor in Management & Leadership (UMPI said they only offer this) benefit me and my career? Is it recommended?
Without knowing anything else about you or your job, are two main ways a degree can benefit you. Either it’s just a checkbox you can check that will advance your pay/title at your current or future company, or it will teach you new skills that qualify you for better pay/positions.
@@CollegeHacked I am a supervisor in Logistics. I can move up with this degree (I am assuming) and use what I learned in the next step which is logistics manager. I have the experience and don’t plan on going anywhere else. I plan on keeping this job for a long time. Do you think it will still be a good route to take?

I want to get my BA in psychology. Im already in the field, I need this to move to the next level in my career. I want to be sure I can transfer from umpi to get my masters or doctorate in the future. I don't see anyone talking about how transferable UMPI is.
You definitely can! A common progression we help people plan is a BA in Psych at UMPI into an LPC or LMFT masters program at Liberty. You could even continue on at Liberty for the doctorate. What matters is the undergrad schools accreditation, and UMPI is regionally accredited so it works for the vast majority of grad programs 👏🏼
Is there a Sophia equivalent for graduate degree credit?
Not at this time, grad degrees are a whole different ball game :)
What would be the best degree if I eventually want to become a special education teacher? I know BLS but some people say the educational studies minor is content heavy and limiting if one eventually wants to do something else,
Special education requires licensure in most states, so you need a specific degree that UMPI doesn’t offer. Check out WGU.
@@CollegeHacked I plan to do an alternative route for my credential. From a local teachers college or county office of education. I just need a BA to get in and start working on my credential.
I see people keep saying the BABA specific degrees don't have regional accreditation. Where are they getting that info from? Seems unlikely.
Regional accreditation applies to a school as a whole, and the school is regionally accredited. Hard to imagine a state school not being regionally accredited. The BABA degrees are not program accredited. We're releasing a Q&A video next week that will explain this in more detail, but overall it just means that some very very very picky grad schools might not let you in. Think Ivy league. Literally no other issues that I'm aware of. These degrees are perfectly good. Program accreditation is something that Business weirdly cares about--same with Nursing and maybe Social Work. Doesn't really come up with any other programs.
@CollegeHacked OH, interesting. I figured. It seemed weird that people kept saying that. I'm currently doing BLS Managment but I work in marketing so was thinking about going back after I finish this degree in a couple of months and doing the BABA Marketing.
You could! A marketing specific cert might do you even better, just depending on your goals
@CollegeHacked I do have a lot of marketing certs including Google Digital Marketing and a Udacity Nanodegree but I want to round it out with a formal degree. Even if it's just the BLS MGMT
Is excelsior university exams proctored?
I am switching my major at UMPI YourPace from English to something else because one of my professors doesn't provide instructions to her milestone assignments. It's unorganized and all over the place.

Hi, I want to get a Bachelor of Liberal Studies - Educational Studies Minor to teach at an international school overseas. How much could I transfer into the degree from Sophia? When I finish will my degree mention the educational part on it to show an employer that I have some background in education?
90 out of 120 credits can be transferred from sophia/study to UMPI, the degree will say “Bachelor of Liberal Studies, Minor in Educational Studies” :)
Im Thinking about their Marketing Degree, but its not based on Digital Marketing or Marketing Analytics like WGU

They do have two different approaches to the degree!
But they are so lame. They rushed me to get transcripts then have sat on them for 3 weeks, missing the nearest term start. 1 person to handle the yourpace program and they don’t communicate at all.
For all this effort I hope the speed of getting they the program won’t be hindered by this slowness.

UMPI is an amazing school, but they currently have one person doing their transfer credit evals and there have been some kinks to work out as far as the number of students applying and the support needed to give them all good customer service. This is a case where “the juice is worth the squeeze” in terms of product. But you are definitely right to say they have some work left to do on the customer service and enrollment side :) They agree and are working hard!

Nope, they still do. :) They just don’t have externally facing charts like some of the other schools.

We then use that in the Zoom consultations we sell to show you what you have done from the degree you want, and then what’s left and where to take it. The credit eval by the school doesn’t cost, but sending in official transcripts usually costs $7-15, somewhere around there.

I'm disappointed in UMPI and their admissions process. The enrollment specialist dropped the ball. He didn't tell me I needed my high school transcript. I called to speak with the person over your pace program and never heard back from anyone.

Any idea of hackable bachelor in Entrepernuship?
Check out the BSBA in Entrepreneurship at Thomas Edison State University (TESU). They allow up to 90 credits from ACE/NCCRS, along with a generous transfer policy for RA credits (up to 90). You need at least 30 RA credits in total, but they don't all have to be from TESU. The max credit total I have seen from them is 114 out of 120.
Their residency requirement is 15 credits - they have a 4300$ flat rate tuition which you could use to do a single-term of 15 credits or you can pay a residency waiver fee (not sure of the cost, but around $3600 I think).
If you are military or veteran, they also have a tuition discount.

TESU is excellent advice, Liberty University Online also has a great entrepreneurship program with veteran and first responder tuition discounts that can stack :)

OK, I get that UMPI is a very Hackable School. But I was looking at their numbers and I see some major problems. First off they have the Worst ROI for any school I have ever seen before with an Average Median Earnings of a UMPI graduate is only $28K???? And only 44% of UMPI graduates make more money than a High School Graduate? I know you love UMPI, but these are terrible stats.... (All Stats from the US Department of Education's College Scorecard Website)
Yeah, stats like this aren’t reliable for many reasons especially when it comes to judging online programs. Consider that these stats are a little older and skew towards their residential program, which is intended for students in a very rural area where pay rates are low and unemployment might be a more significant factor. There are other reasons to ignore, but also consider common sense. Is there a magical reason graduates from this school wouldn’t be able to make money? No, it’s accredited. It’s got everything one needs for a bachelors degree. And we’ve had many clients use this degree to go on to masters programs or to get high level promotions. It all comes down to what your goal is and if a bachelors degree checks the box to achieve it.

Does UMPI accept over 20 years of work experience as an international government worker?
They might through a Portfolio or Prior Learning Review. The experiental learning would need to align to classes in their catalog and there is usually a cost associated with PLR.

The great thing about competency based education (CBE) programs like UMPI is that your experience can be used in an even more streamlined way. If you start a class and already know the content from your years in that industry, you can jump to the end and complete the final for the course and move on. :) A Portfolio Process is usually slower than this option 😜
Sadly, they only have one Master's major. 😐
So far, but we can only imagine more are coming :) Plus, 3 of their undergrad classes can be transferred into the MAOL.
