i think you should just give it time because some of the patches are vary stubborn so they take time. just keep up with the process and yeah you can use a hot water to clean the roller

Hot water will just rince it, not clean or sterilize it tho. You want to clean it after use and also sterilize it in alcohol after use and sterilizing it again just before use.
