The best thing Prime has over Rekordbox is that your key info changes with the pitch fader. I'm a Pioneer user and really hope they copy that idea. It makes harmonic mixing effortless.

this software looks very clean. I think Denon is stepping up their game. The waveforms look brilliant with no sort of jitter or blink at all. Also the equipment that uses this software is comparable to cdj's in quality and functionality at a lower price. I am wondering if there is a way i can use the dvs of this software with non-denon hardware.
They're definitely putting the work in and coming on leaps and bounds :)

I'm on Linux so I guess I won't be able to run this software but I'd love to have Denon DJ SC5500 Prime Players (and a X1800 Prime mixer too !)...
Fortunately for me, unlike today's Pioneer DJ players (maybe the next ones will be able to do it as well) these can analyze tracks in a completely standalone way. It sure takes more time than analyzing tracks with a computer but it can be very useful !

Great vid. You mentioned "elastic" beat gridding but didn't get into it. It's simple to adjust beat grid on a synchronized track but I would love to see how to do that on a live drum track. You said it does a really nice job of handling that. Please share. Thank you.
i had a question, i understand that it can read serato crates and it has its own icon in the software, but what if my serato music library is all located on an external HDD. Can I just plug my external HDD that has my serato library already set into the SC5000 and it will read my crates...etc? or do I have to bring it into engine and then re-create it...
Is there an history to keep track of what I played and a csv or excel export of the played set?
I haven’t been able to export playlists onto a drive. Somehow, tracks show up under music collection, but nothing shows up under playlist. This makes browsing on the players really tough, because I like to sort by bpm and track title. Fun to play on otherwise.

I have a specific question:
can i use Enigine Prime software to analyse and set cue points and grids, and then export them to Serato? What will happen when you drag some of the file to the serato crate icon? Does it export them to my serato library?
I am wondering the same thing. I didn’t see a way to export. I have been using serato as my baseline for building crates and playlist and updating engine Prime with it since I am most comfortable with Serato until I can wean off of it.

I like serato dj software but that's all it is a software on your laptop.the thing denon engine prime and rekordbox have over serato is the capability of not using the software on the laptop.its there for emergency.also some of pioneer's rekordbox box controllers and denons prime series players and the denon mcx8000 is useability with a thumb drive.love the idea of that.serato need to make a some of the controllers like the nv2 which needs a thumb drive port make the controller with built in serato software engine.so it can be used standalone without having to use the laptop.if you get what I mean.it feels to me that serato is slowly going backwards rather than forward.like pioneer's dj equipment is indistery standard in clubs and music event's rekordbox and denons engine prime will probably no doubt go that way.
i tried it, i dont see the bpm encoded in the mp3. does it only tag the bpm to the mp3 when you export, i actually tried it if it'll write the bpm in the tags
Nice review. Question: what OS did you test it with? I am asking as on my hi-spec Win10 Laptop Engine Prime's waveform display isn't smooth at all and due to this hardly usable for preparing tracks :-(
I see you have to drag and drop the playlists in to the USB device. This was the case with Rekordbox as well in the start. But now they have the sync manager for exporting playlist and folders that makes this a huge step backwards.
I'm sure all of these features will be added in future updates :-)
Is there a way to make a loop go backwards instead of forwards? I mean, I use the auto loop encoder and prepare the loop, but it always goes forward when I activate it, is there a way for it to go backwards?

what is the very first thing to do when I launch engine prime software and its blank as no songs in there, can you explain how do i go about transferring songs into engine prime first. You do need the songs in the engine prime software first in order to transfer songs or playlist onto the flash drive to use with either of sc5000, sc6000, mcx8000, etc,....... right. can you explain please
You can simply drag and drop your tunes into Engine :)
How do you reset the played state of tracks? My tracks are still blue from being played long ago.
Will this new Engine Prime desktop software integrate with the sc3900 setup linked with the iOS iPad Engine v1.0.1?
The SC3900 is supported by Engine - don't know about Prime though. Here's the FAQ on Engine Prime that should help: denondj.com/kb/article/2322
I hope this had something like Rekordbox Performance, I really like Engine prime, but I don't like Serato which doesn't even get the right Key.

If I drag a playlist from the Playlist Tab (in Engine Prime) into my flash drive, but then later make changes to the cues, loops., etc. within the Engine Prime playlist, is there a way to update the playlist that's on the flashdrive? Or do I have to delete the older playlist, and drag the new, updated one into the flash drive? Am assuming that the "refresh" button (next to the "profile preferences" button in the Flash Drive tab) does this?
You need to refresh it, and / or sync the thumb drive with Engine Prime :)
is there a way to keep the order of the tracks from "date created"? theyre in one order (the correct order) when in a folder on my mac, but when i drag the folder into Engine it puts them in a different order. I have tried the softwares own "date added" tab but that doesnt work
You can only order by the options in the software, so perhaps not.
One thing I find really annoying with the Engine Prime software is that you can ONLY edit one track at a time. I know, but in many other software solutions you can easily select, say, a whole album and change something across all the tracks, for example if I want to re-assign genre from "Alternative" to "Rock" I have to do it track, by, track. Unless I am missing something really obvious... which I don't think I am...
For software that is an analysis and library style software... this seems really weak to me. Apart from that it's really good.

I don't know if this has happened to you, but I have a track where where I end the loop, it tags it on an off beat. It doesn't loop properly. Is there a way to drag the loop to end where I want it to?
Have you tried correcting the beatgrid for that track?
Mine is coming out huge I need to make the text and everything smaller

It means the software can't locate the track - it's been moved to somewhere else.
Can i prepare my track in serato dj and play it in mcx8000 ?

How do I change songs order on a playlist?
Do you know how to fix tracks that show up in red? I’ve had 4 tracks knocked out of my collection.
It is because you have moved them since importing them into Prime.
Digital DJ Tips the tracks haven’t been moved it’s come from one folder that’s permanently on my HDD. The songs play in WMP fine.
If the filename has changes that could be it too. DJ software needs track filenames and locations to stay static.
Some of my tracks don’t show a waveform in the software. Does anyone know why.

Does Engine Prime software have an auto gain feature?
No. It is designed for you to use the gain knobs to balance tracks.
@@digitaldjtips Thanks! One more question. Does Engine Prime have away to utilize sound effects with the pads? I.e air horn or explosion or pre recorded sound bite.
Engine Prime is for library management not performance, it depends on the hardware you're using

so i thing denon software it is better than serato...... but this software denon it have autoplay list?
This software is for analysing tracks and adding cue points, it is not DJ software like Serato.
My software won’t allow me to drag and drop does anyone know why it’s not allowing me.

Yes it has autoplay.
