the same here my friend. i tried to like latakia bends many time and always ended up dumping it in the big jar with all the blends that i dont like. pirate kake is no exception by the way. the only exeption was spark plug by gl pease so you might give it a try. thanx alot for the video man.
Nightcap is about as strong a latakia blend as you can get. Pirate Kake excepted. Try Boswell's Light English, Wilke #10 or Samuel Gaiwith Squadron Leader.
Not a huge Latakia fan myself. I think we have similar taste generally speaking. That being said Standard Mixture from Peterson and Quiet Nights by GL Pease are very good. Also Chelsea Morning by GL Pease is a great breakfast blend with Tea.
I don't think I have ever seen such reactions to a tobacco blend 😂. There are cigars and pipe tobacco blends I do not exactly like, but none do I dislike so much I can't smoke it if that's what I have available. Good on you for at least giving it a go! Happy smokes
Love this blend. Lol. Funny too about the campfire. I literally dont get that all. That 'perfume' taste really sticks out to me. Tnats a good way to put it. Like a sweet hay?...idk.
Love it in deep winter. Hey u should really grab some Warped Midsommar!! Seems people are sleeping on it but it’s fantastic!! That aged burley is next level
I’ve tried straight Latakia as well as a couple of blends with Latakia in it. I wanted to like it since English blends are so popular but I just can’t get into it. Even there is even a hint of Latakia in a blend it’s all I can smell and taste. It just overpowers everything else.
See, people call me crazy but I’m the exact same way. A buddy of mine is always having me smell blends and if it has even the slightest whisper of Latakia in it, I point it right out. Lol
Have you reviewed Elizabethan? I suspect that might be more suitable to your tastes. I love Nightcap, personally, and it was one of the first tobaccos I tried when I started smoking a pipe 25+ years ago. The Murray’s produced Nightcap, FWIW actually was more Latakia dominant…
@sonnythepiper pirate kake and 10 Russians are monster latbomb blends. I'm a latbomb fan but I prefer 10 Russians over pirate kake 90% of the time. Nightcap is one of my top favourite blends, it was the first one i smoked that blew me away like this is what pipe tobacco should taste like to me. Perfection is another I love and smoke all the time. My wife doesn't smoke but loves the campfire smell of latakia and Orientals.
If all men were manly the world would be a boring place, it's alright that you're not. 🤷🏻♂️ I kid, I kid. But on a serious note; Latakia is definitely best smoked in cold weather, or at least cooler weather. I feel like you should try some more traditional. You mentioned S.G. Perfection, I love that stuff. Nightcap and Pirate Kake are both great but none of these three represent a more traditional English. Wait until it's cold and try something that better represents the style. Feel free to hit me up for samples if you'd like them for a video review. IMHO Sobranie is the pinnacle of the Latakia blends. ✊🏼
I once thought that about Scotch. Tastes in pipe smoking change dramatically over time. That's why I like to go in to every style with a truly open mind.
Oh, the sacrifices you make for the entertainment of the community.
Love nightcap myself, old Dublin is up there too, maybe you should step away from the latakia and leave the pirate to sail away! Keep er lit
Lol. Might not be a bad idea. 🤣🤣🤣
This is so funny because English blends are my absolute favorite.
See, that’s awesome! I sometimes wish they were my thing but they are most decidedly not. 🤣
Nightcap was one of my first if not first Latakia blends about 20 years ago. When it still said Dunhill on the tin... Goes really well with black tea
Well I’m glad I can leave plenty of it for you! 🤣🤣🤣
I love my DFK, burley and Virginias I even smoke blending DFK straight. But I love me some Nightcap! Thanks for the vid!

I was thinking about giving SparkPlug a go just the other day. Lol
One of my go to favorites when I want a HUGE Lat-Bomb 🤘🏼
I applaud your spirit of sacrifice😂 This video is really funny.
If all I get out of this torture is for someone to laugh, I consider that a massive win. Lol
Thank you, Sonny, for making the video. Who knows...you might like latakia at some point. In the meantime, I will take your Nightcap!
Lol. I might take you up on that. 🤣🤣🤣
I have one more lat blend on hand for this series and then I need to get ahold of some more. Haha
That last blend might just be the one that wins you over!@@sonnythepiper
This one had me laughing out loud. My daughter thinks I’m insane.
Lol. Glad you both got a kick out of it! 🤣🤣🤣

I’ll definitely look into those!
English blends are really good with coffee.

Yep. Lol. Latakia makes me nauseous to even smell it. It’s pretty intense but also hilarious. 🤣🤣
😂I love nightcap, and Latakia bombs, I find perfection too dry, ya a brave man 😂
There’s a fine line between brave and stupid, and I toe that line DAILY. 🤣

I still can’t get into it. Lol

I'll check it out!

I haven’t reviewed it but it is in my top 3 favorites of all time. Basically a perfect all-day smoke.
So…definitely avoid Pirate Kake😂
The more I hear about how much of a Lat-bomb it is, the more I wanna try it. 🤣🤣🤣

I'm not a big fan of latakia but I actually like pirate kake lol😊
See, that’s probably what will happen with me. 🤣🤣🤣

I honestly just think Latakia and I will never be friends, and that’s ok. Lol
