Love it.Normally you’re very clinical and amazingly anatomically descriptive. Then you come out with “they’re frigging useless”.Creased me up.
Same! 😂
Lol yeah. The irritation was felt.
Yes! Same!
He's a human being...not a robot....it happens! Lol
Time stamp?
This poor man. I've never seen anything so thick and so stuck to anybody's ear canal. His canals look so sore. I hope he gets some relief. Good job once again, Conor. Ps I wish you would post more. We all so enjoy your videos.
lol the guy didn't clean his ears like he should have. The ear buds wouldn't have been stuck.,
@@willn8664
But it still got stuck, and I'm 90% sure he didn't know, "if I don't clean my ears my earbuds will get welded into my ear"
The comparison is like trying to teach little 3 year old Tommy morals.
No sympathy deserved as he do it to himself, yeah pushing the earbud to the ear make the sound louder and exterior noise smaller but this guy go too far and stuff it too deep.
@@JimmyPizzaDelivery cleaning your ears is common sense though lol
@@willn8664You'd be surprised.
I have no clue why UA-cam recommended me this (I'm not a doctor or anything), but surprisingly this was VERY satisfying to watch 🙈 Really enjoyed seeing those fully clogged ear canals getting cleared and cleaned up so nicely. I can't imagine how relieved this patient must have felt after the procedure. Nice commentary as well, thanks for sharing! 🤗
me too it was very satisfying and looked like loads of relief for the patient
Me too. I watch blackhead videos... So maybe it(the UA-cam algorithm) thought this would be good?
Same . I have worked in medical but I’ve never searched this. I do clean the boulders out of my husbands ears though 😂
UA-cam brings people ear cleaning when they need it most 😂
Half the wax, I couldn’t even tell it was wax until it was peeled off. I can only imagine how good that must’ve felt.
I remember a retired surgeon told me never to use earbuds that go inside the ear canal. He said it causes so many problems.
You mean iems?
In ear monitors are literally doctor recommended to musicians who perform and are way safer than typical earbuds... maybe there's a reason your surgeon friend was "retired"
Thank you so much. Hopefully, the patient learned a lesson from this. I am 73 and remember my grandmother's earring aids whistling. She had a terrible time with that. Thank you for giving me a precious memory of her. I loved her dearly. ❤😊
That's one way to keep outside noises at bay😮.😊
I bet u did...i love & miss my nana too...RIP😢

I’m horrified that these are available and even worse that instead of waiting to go for hearing tests in the NHS the poor man resorted to this.
I went for a hearing test at a clinic and before I knew it I’d spent 2k on hearing aids. 3 years on and I’ve seldom worn them after going back to the clinic where the audiologist was incredibly rude. I left in tears feeling I was the most stupid person on the earth and have been scared to go back since apart from not being able to pay £100 for a hearing aid check.
Your patients are so lucky Connor that you are kind and gentle and so knowledgeable.
Sorry to hear that, £100 is quite expensive for a check, might be worth trying an alternative independent clinic. Most will be happy to help
@@DurhamHearingSpecialiststhanks Connor, I may well take a drive across the border to your part of the world when I’m feeling a bit better.
@@DurhamHearingSpecialists was this painful for this patient? It looks like it hurts.
@@DurhamHearingSpecialiststhat's why insurance won't pay.everyony would need a pair,BUT cochlear implants are coveredf❤
Yeah, he might (will) be waiting months for the NHS.
This is a random recommendation on my yt feed, and I'm oddly fascinated with all of this. Wow. I'm always happy to see doctors solving patients' problems.
This is a literal concern I have for my husband. He likes to fall asleep with his earbuds in and our dog has eaten those stupid things when they’ve fallen out and he’s lost several… it stresses me out but he keeps doing it! Sending him this rn.
I've got earbud that just can't physically goes inside my ear.
Why doesn't he try those ones designed for sleep? Or at least chorded ones of he wants to sleep in them 😭
This isn't the same thing, don't worry. Earbuds getting stuck in the ear can easily be removed, like he said. What he removed is a weird thing that can't happen unless you buy it.
@@NoobieLandCity What if somehow does, and now you have an earbud that physically cant get out?
Same istg men are something else i bet my dd has this or something else stuck in his ear 🤦
Thank you for being so gentle and kind with your patient. I’m new to your channel and love the microscope and technical discussions. I also have to giggle at your choice of words. I have added “faffing” to my vocabulary and almost fell over laughing when you called the forceps “frigging useless.” 🤣
Thanks Lauren, glad you enjoyed
I had to replay back to check I wasn’t hearing things 🤣😂🤣and yes I did hear correctly “ frigging useless” couldn’t stop laughing 😂🤣
Totally agree on all points! "Faffing around" is officially in the bank of phrases I use and the "friggin' useless" part made me choke on my drink!😂
@@sandyb57 I heard it too!
I have never seen hearing aid inserts like that before. Very interesting. Sometimes DIY hearing assistance is not worth it. Glad you were able to help him. Your videos are very interesting. I’ve been looking for a new video from you for quite a while now. Thank you for helping this patient.
I love seeing your personality come out in this video. "Rubbish" and "completely freaking useless" had me laughing my butt off. 😂
Oof, that must have hurt. Did you get it re-attached?
@@Seastar14TheWitch yes. Luckily I was able to get my BBL at the same time.
I was laughing listening to him talk about jumping through the ceiling haha
I'm surprised this doesn't happen in the states all the time. The price of hearing aids here is insane so I'd be surprised if people haven't turned to this.
Costco has really good prices on hearing aids and they offer payment plans!
They do. Often
It'd probably be cheaper to get a pair of reasonably priced earbuds(I suggest JBL or SkullCandy) and an app specifically geared for earbuds and headphones to be used in a semi similar way as hearing aids.
I got my hearing aids at Costco a few years ago. $800 per ear. I love them. Still cost a lot, but they are great. Well worth the cost.
@@Plantlover344, that is expensive for the average elderly person.
Dr. Conner, those look like they were inserted backwards. That might explain why they both came off also, they didn't stick to the device. The mushroom or umbrella part is folded the wrong way which might be why they put so much pressure inside the ear canal.
“I bought them on a whim and they’re just completely friggen useless.” Connor summing up all of my recent Amazon purchases. 😂
The NHS hearing aids are fantastic now. My partner got new ones and they are blue tooth. So he can connect with his phone and the t.v. Sp he answers his phone through his hearing aids and no-one else hears the conversation. Brilliant.
Hi, I know your comment is a few months old now but I just wanted to say thanks for informing me that Bluetooth hearing aids are a thing! That's super cool.

What a mess this person got themselves in! Yikes, looks painful! Great job on getting them out Connor! I love all of the education you give throughout your videos. ❤
i love how half this video is him saying his tools suck while still skillfully extracting everything 😂
“They’re friggin’ useless.” 😂😂 this one was so cool to watch. Something new, and I love it!❤
Good to see you back, Connor. I love a medical professional who gives an unambiguous verdict! 😍
My 7year old son heard you say “comment your questions down below” and he wants me to ask how long the ear is. We stopped the video to google a diagram when we saw the ear drum and now he wants to know in centimetres how deep the ear drum is from the outside of your ear 😃
For an adult the ear-canal is approximately 2.5cm in length (ranging from 2.3cm to 2.8cm). Hope this helps. 😉
Also, something that might be interesting. A regular ear-bud (those colored things from memoryfoam you can stick into your ears to sleep) are usually 2.3cm in length so you should never stick them into your ears completely as when they expand they press down pretty heavily against your ear-drums.
@@DanakarEndeelthis explains why those always hurt my ears horribly 😅😅
@@humanbean4037 Yeah, if you have a shorter ear-canal they could be making contact with your ear-drums; although the constant expanding of the foam may also irritate the ear-canal itself. Every time I used those standard memoryfoam buds my entire ear-canal would start hurting the next day. Luckily I managed to find silicone ear-buds that do not expand and can be used to close off the canal. Pretty inexpensive too as I found a box of 12 reusable ones over on some chinese website called Temu for just a few bucks. Been using those now for over a year and they work great for me. 😄
Omg I didn’t even think about ear buds getting stuck in the ear… getting anything stuck in there is so creepy to think about. Amazing work. This seems so painfuk
A person has to careful what they stick in their ears. It can end badly. Fortunately, you were there to help. After watching your channel, I talked to my doctor about being referred to an ENT to have my ears checked. He checks them once a year and cleans them out. I haven't had any major problems, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. The ENT looked at the amount of wax buildup and figured out a reasonable schedule for a routine cleaning. In my case, once a year is probably enough. If my insurance will cover it, I would much prefer to have a professional handle these things. I have seen too many times on your channel and others how DIY ear care has only caused additional problems.
❤
🎉
you should be careful on sticking anything in something in general
@@pearadiss
"you should be careful on sticking anything in something in general"
I completely agree. Or at the very least use a condom.
Usually its not the hearing aid, even the cheaper ones are pretty good nowdays. Here the guy was clearly not using it properly and has not taken them out to clean his ears for god knows how long, so a big part of the problem was user error for sure.
I got the sticker from a hearing aid battery stuck in my ear. Don’t know how it happened but it got in there. Didn’t really bother me, but my GP saw it when checking my ears.
this guy goes through a lot i really appreciate your work and i am intrigued to enter a hearing specialists course and help people with my condition. thank you for everything you do :)
I like the way you move from outside to inside to clear the wax. Makes more sense than the opposite way, like some audiologists. I like that soft suction wand also.
Watching this made MY ears feel better. Brilliant work.
I once removed a hearing aid cap from the inside of my grandmother's ear. She had put another cap on it since she lost the first one so it got jammed pretty far. This happened in my mid teens but i was determined to get it removed for her so she doesn't have to see a specialist. But i did say if it felt weird or got more sore to see her doctor. I would not recommend doing something similar unless you havea healthy confidence in yourself. Be sure to know that the person may flinch if the inside of the ear canal is touched so proper communication is essential.
Nicely done. What a relief it must feel to have those extracted and all cleaned up!
I could listen to you speak alllllll day!!!! This was the fastest, most entertaining 9 mins I’ve ever seen 🌸💜

My grandmother had the cheap hearing aids you can just walk in wa drug store and buy and there was ALWAYS a high pitched whistling coming from her ears, almost like when a tea kettle is ready😂
My cheap ones did that b also my expensive custom ones my dr orders sometimes whistle to is it is covered for example if I cup my ear with my hand around the hearing aid it will whistle or if I lay down on it
I love the way you handle things, Doc. You did it so gently and with so much care to your patient's comfort.
Shockingly, many NHS services refuse to prescribe hearing aids for those who need them
Rightly so, only those who cannot hear at all should get them.
@@SergyMilitaryRankings if people are profoundly deaf, hearing aids won't be any use. They are only effective for people with some hearing
@@SergyMilitaryRankingsNah that's retarded. Moderate hearing loss is already bad enough that a hearing aid would be a significant improvement in QoL, pretty sad state your healthcare is in if only severe cases can get one.

I'm 83. As a child, I had lots of ear infections and my eardrum finally remained open and never healed until I had restorative surgery at 36. Also, the bones had become infected and sort of fell apart. It's so informative to see how the ear works, where the little bones are supposed to be, and what things look like in there after you pull out the wax. Thanks so much for the education! Now I know why that ear of mine doesn't hear much. My hearing aids are very helpful, however.
As that suddenly started to come out I suddenly thought this must look similar to the removal of a mooncup 😮🤦🏻♀️😂 it does make me wonder if he was embarrassed about losing his hearing so got awful hearing aids through ignorance online but had a build up of wax causing the hearing loss in the first place 🤔 They must have really hurt 😕
Does kind of look like a mooncup
Hey Connor, I have to say I watch a lot of YT with ear buds and this creeps me out. Ugh I can't imagine. But then again I know they're in great hands my friend.

Yes, I'm HOH all my life and wear hearing since since 4 years old (I'm 66), very clean ears always. Thank gosh new hearing aids have bluettooth, no need for cheap Chinese ear buds.
Ain't no feeling out there like the soothing relief and sensation he felt once he got it all out.
I once went to a doctor for a yearly checkup, nothing special it was just time to get a physical done, like how you go to the dentist twice a year for routine cleaning. While he was checking my ears I was explaining to him that my middle and inner ear were gonna look strange bc of all the surgeries I had as a kid, and I remember he paused when he got to my left ear and then asked, “Do you wear a hearing aid?” I was so confused bc I hadn’t told him yet that I did in fact have a hearing aid, but it accidentally got packed with some boxes in storage. I asked how he knew and I kid you not he took an alligator clamp and pulled out the rubber end that goes into my ear. I have no idea how it got stuck, nor how long it was in my ear.
Did u felt anything when it got stuck?
@@kanishkameena5463 no I didn’t, actually. I only realized it was there when he pulled it out
I’ve had several surgeries in my right ear, including having my ear drum rebuilt. So I have a lot of pain from all the scarring. It hurts to wear earplugs so I can’t imagine putting that frigging useless hearing aid in my ear 😂

I had a pair of Loops, to block noise (Autistic) to try and help me feel less triggered with noises, but the tips kept coming off and staying in my ear (Easy enough for me to get out at home) and I was super scared of this happening so stopped using them. They also didn't do much for me, they actually made sound worse for me (Like it was through my bones or something, sounded just as loud but distorted, and I could also hear my body really loud too). Hearing aids make one's ears sore, although they are a wonderful assistance. But if worn for long periods, one feels like there are pressure sores and so this video makes total sense. I cannot imagine wearing aids 24/7!

Looks like theyre vacuum sealed into the ear. 😮 i feel like ive watched so many ear videos i could do this for a living. So satisfying to watch and must be amazing relief for the clients.
I wish we had medical coverage like this in the US!
The coverage is there. It just ain't free/provided for all :(
It’s not free in the U.K. either. There is some on the NH.s but it is normally an extremely long wait (which can mean the problem gets worse) and treatment may be minimal. Sometimes to get timely and thorough treatment you have to go private, but to find someone as good as Connor is of course not easy. My late Nan went through a number of audiologists and to quote Connor and paraphrase my Nan, ‘they were all frigging useless’. Nan was less polite of course as she wasn’t being recorded….
@@dees3179it differs a lot from region to region in UK. The NHS splits the UK into clinical commissioning groups , each group chooses how to deliver services in their region, how to allocate their funds. The result can be extremely varied across the UK, even in neighboring towns.
What's more is that every NHS user can request to be seen somewhere else in the UK or either by another NHS facility or even private clinics and request that local CCG pays for it.
No. You definitely don't.
@@dees3179In the U.S, it’s marginally worse. There’s also extremely wait times for specialists and some offices (depends on where you are, your income, healthcare accessibility, and a few other factors), and you’re limited by the type of insurance you have, to the point that companies deny covering treatments approved by the doctor.
I’ve known people that have had their medical insurance company basically tell them they won’t be covering life saving cancer treatment.
People in the U.S oftentimes can’t even get treated.
It’s amazing what people will put in their ears.
Conor, I always find your videos very informative, but I got a kick out of hearing you talk about how rubbish those crocodile forceps were.
Heh, yeh they really suck
the amount of relieve must been something
I had one of my rubber earbuds come off and got slightly stuck in my ear canal the other day! I tried not to panic and managed to wiggle it free but it was a close shave for a moment.
The wax removal was almost as satisfying as watching blackhead removal videos
Too bad in the USA hearing aids are prohibitively expensive and we have to resort to the cheap amplification ones. 😢 Hearing aids aren't covered by Medicare.
That's why I always use over-ear headphones.
Next time TWIST THE FORCEPS after biting down on it so it will collapse the foreign object onto itself making it easier to slide out.
Usually you use oil or a different solution to lose plugs of wax. Did you avoid that to keep the rubber from becoming slippery
I just didn't feel it would have helped, made good progress with the Cawthorne
I would of freaked out if something got lodged I'd try to remove it though. Can you talk about eustachian tubes and issues one may have.
When I was a kid, I was a very light sleeper. My mother gave me small earplugs so I could sleep. I woke up to go to the bathroom, and I could only find one earplug. I turned on the light and I could see a tiny amount of earplug deep in my ear. I woke my parents, and after a half an hour of calming me, my father used tweezers to take the earplug out of my ear. My father had taken a picture of it, and it was so deep in my ear that you could barely see the earplug edge in my ear.
This was a random youtube recommendation, but honestly, it somehow has the same kind of morbid curiosity/satisfaction level that cleaning/disinfecting cow hooves seems to have. Not something you'd look for, but like, weirdly gross and interesting at the same time? Along with being really nice when all finished up of course.
You notice the hearing aid not only stuck but kinda of being layered under the wax of the ear, which I can imagine is very painful, it causes alot of bleading, and bruising to. This is why you need to be careful with these kind of hearing aids.
Thank you. The lengths some people go to just to save some money.
Since he was evasive about what exactly he had in his ear, he probably will go buy another set of cheapies.
It looked like he had been wearing them 24/7. I hope you told him, gently of course, that's not good for his ears.
Yes I eluded that the NHS can fit him with some good hearing aids for free, hope he takes them

I love your videos!! The satisfaction of watching these big things come out in one big piece is so intensely satisfying!! I cannot tell you how enjoyable that is for me!! 🤗
For the patient, earbuds have taken a whole new meaning.
going off what i can see from the camera’s POV, i actually had a pair of headphones that had little rubber plugs like that too, they never got stuck thankfully, but they’re supposed to go into the ear rather than fit snugly on your ear. my ears don’t really fit with most earbuds really, pretty scary that it was even a possibility that they could get stuck
Do you think they maybe had the blockage and they thought they needed the hearing aids because they were experiencing hearing loss due to it unknowingly?
The more i watch this ear extractions vids, the cases just keeps getting weirder and weirder hahaha😂
I just watched 7 of this guy videos, he removed blockage, he removed debrees from child ear, but this one in particular made me want to rub my ears
I can definitely tell you aren't happy with those snub nose crocs, I think 'flippin' is the strongest language you've used 😂 interesting case, I have loop buds to cancel noise out but they aren't comfortable. What is your opinion on the Flare brand? They are silicone tube type buds that sit in the outer ear/entrance to help take away background noise.
I've not used them myself but am dubious about the science. I think custom made filtered plugs are better
Pls don’t cringe too hard, one time my grandma got a hearing aid dome stuck in her ear and I took a pair of tweezers and got it out, it had been there for a few weeks (idk how she didn’t realize for THAT LONG) and it bled a little bit but it all turned out okay!
Why is watching ear wax plugs come out so satisfying lol
My ear drums are a train wreck with lifelong infections, vent tubes and surgeries. Once cleared, this patients ear drums truly are good.
Wow😮
Hi Connor! Love all your videos, not just for medical content. Hoping to convince my dad to finally get hearing aids. You probably get complaints a lot from family members of semi deaf patients, but shouting so my dad can hear me is rough on my voice 😢 When my grandfather lost his hearing, he learned how to read lips😊
Hopefully he has by now! It took literal years to persuade my mum that she needed a hearing test, despite her needing both subtitles and the TV volume set to 30 (for context I usually had it set to 7-8). We endured years of the TV in her bedroom being so loud that I couldn't sleep, despite being on the other side of the house with the bedroom door shut...
The only way I managed to get her to go was to make it difficult to ignore the issue - so I basically pestered her to go to the optician/hearing centre every single time the TV was too loud or she couldn't hear me. She's got a certain expression that tells me she can't hear what I'm saying and is just nodding along; I know it's not intentional but they expression feels really condescending, if you know what I mean? I know she's not doing it but it feels like taking to someone who's just waiting for you to stop talking so they can leave and do more important things than listen to whatever you're yammering on about. I know that's not what's happening, but it bloody well feels like it at the time!
Anyway, this a tactic that works pretty well in most situations - you just need to find a way to swap the amount of effort between doing something vs doing nothing, if that makes sense?
I don’t know why but I think these things are satisfying
It's so sad that he didn't feel comfortable admitting he had inexpensive hearing aids.
