As touching the WDFC, Kirloskar Pneumatic has built at least 100 RoadRailers based on a Wabash National design. These are sturdy road semitrailers that can be connected by means of railway bogies into trains of up to 50 RRUs (RoadRail Units). KPCL is known to have run these trains without problems on the Palwal-Chennai route between 2018 and 2021, but there’s no publicly available information on them since. The perfect intermodal solution for the DFCs, and far more efficient than the truck-on-train mode that’s currently being used.

@@sabyasachipaldas2757I spoke to Mr. K. Srinivasan, MD of KPCL, last week. He told me he wants to sell all ~150 RoadRailers and bogies as is to any interested logistics business for ₹14.5 crore.

Government has ignored the taxi mafia in all Indian cities. Uber/Ola is failing in tier 2,3 cities and hence the biggest challenge for railways passengers!

This figure of "9g CO2/ tonne Km" - is it for electrified tracks, or non - electrified? To complicate matters further, IR runs diesel locos under wires

Just can't believe the rationale behind abandoning DFCs and building vanity HSRs at the same time! HSR is a boondoggle. Talk about misplaced priorities.
