We had a car identical to this one back in the mid '80's with the exception of ours had the Landau top. This has to be one of the most comfortable riding cars Chevrolet ever built. It had a 305 under the hood with plenty of power. My parents bought their car in November of 1986 with only 27000 miles. Traded it in on a Suburban in February of 1989 with only 67000 miles on the odometer. A week before they traded it in, I checked the oil dipstick, it was only a 1/4 quart low with 3000 miles on the oil. Not bad for a car that age with that many miles. Engines back then didn't have the technology of engines of today. The only work done on that car was the cruise control switch had to be changed. It worked fine, but if you tilted the steering wheel all the way down with the cruise control on, it would cut off. Other than that, the car was perfect. I would say the line of Chevrolet Caprice Classics of the 1980's were the best looking and best overall Chevrolet ever built.
I would be afraid to change anything on that beauty. Too clean!!!
