problem is explorer.exe crashes everytime I open a file or program. I can't do these steps because it resets almost immediately
This is happening to mine too. Windows explorer just keeps restarting and I'm not sure why

I’ve been trying to fix this for 3 days now and i found this video and made my day - Thank You Soo Much 👌
Uninstalling OneDrive solved the issue when explorer would freeze and restart every time. If you can't uninstall OneDrive - just reboot, the issue will be gone, but it'll come back eventually.

Thanks a lot, man! I was struggling to open my file explorer and the second method did help, but I seem to still get it crashes when I try to open a specific file. However, I managed to solve that by making a copy of that file and deleting the old one. Now, my file explorer is working again.

Thank man! Changing "open file explorer to" to "this pc" fixed my file explorer crashing and restarting when opening "this pc". Doesn't anymore now.

Thank you so much!! Ive encountered a bug while dragging apps on my windows 11 laptop resulting in drag button not working and this fixed my problem! :)
miraculously it worked for now, i couldnt even get into explorer options, i just reseted my cpu like 10x trying to find a fix, i was trying to move files from an sd card to another and it would freeze on me, when i would move my cursor along the taskbar it wouldnt highlight the software or anything, also when i would right click some of the context menu would vanish too, so damn weird.....
try this..instead of clicking on the folder icon, hold down the windows key and the letter E on your keyboard, this works better than using the icon folder to run explorer.. things run faster with less freezing

Ah None of them work tbh it's not saying anything on the task manager it's just loading and loading and it won't stop loading and I can't open other folder

I tried this, and when I clicked ‘end process’ my whole screen went black and now I can’t do anything
You have to press ctrl + alt + del then open task manager and after u go for files and start new... You type explorer in and then just press ok
I just needed to restart my pc but thabks for the fixes!

Begin with trying another browser, like Firefox is better I think.

Help me, My file explorer doesn't work after i open any type of executable programs ( Except for files ). I tried every method but it still doesn't work, Is this a system error or instability?
Edit : I fixed it using task manager and opening another program such as explorer... But i have another problem, When i login it shows me a black screen... How do i fix this? ( I am on mobile rn ).
My issue was when I clicked open folder on chrome or in visual code, and I created new folder it’d freeze up. If you have this issue follow the file explorer options section.
My explorer on the task bar won't open but if I hover over it I can see a small window.
It just won't open
it works for now, once i restart file explorer, it keeps crashing and restarting, so it has a further issue.
None of these worked, but I found the solution for me.
Open File Explorer -> click view -> details pane
Something about the preview pane causes the crash.
I should've come here sooner! Instead, I follow from the community page on microsoft with sfc /scannow and dism whatever. THANK YOU

Thanks,.. Mine seems to be working OK now. I think it was the Quick Access, and the preview panel. I see a lot of people with this problem, but when I look on the MS support, often they suggest reinstalling windows etc.. I am wondering if this was due to one of the updates. I had this problem appear on 2 different computers.
My problem is that it crashes as soon as it crashed. Any fixes for this problem?
If anything says Very high restart it, that's what I did and mines is back

Hi I'm using windows 11, my file manager is not even opening, when i click file explorer whole screen going blank and again it is in home page. What to do for this issue
nope. i had to disable several services to stabilize Explorer. at its worst, it took 15mins to open a window. now it opens immediately. as it should.
whenever i try to open something in the file explorer it just loads forever and never actually open what i wanted to open in the file explorer

@@colomakevinsangeban2521 i fixed the problem. Try installing an app from the microsoft store called " Files - Preview" it is a file explorer but better in a way and after that my other file explorer started working too

It's mostly windows bugs, turn off preview in explorer and it should happen less often.

When I try open option it says windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the sppropiot permission to access them
