Hello! My name is Kelly & I had my left foot amputated above the foot. I now have prosthetic foot. It is a learning curve. Thank you for sharing your journey, it has helped me. Be safe!!

Fantastic progress! I had a revision last week on my above the knee amputation. I’m a bilateral and my other leg amputation is below the knee. Your videos are super helpful and gave me the extra push to go ahead with the revision versus trying to live with reoccurring pressure ulcers. So far so good with the revision.

Your prosthetist is also an amputee? That’s badass! Huge props for the progress.

I am also an above-knee amputee and also use Hanger Clinic. Six months ago I was fitted with a Hanger comfort-flex adapt socket. Even though it is an ischial containment socket, it is very comfortable. I also have the new Freedom Quattro MPK and Kinterra foot. I have not fallen or had my leg come off during the entire six months I’ve had this set-up. I would love to have a sub-ischial socket just for the freedom of movement but I’m afraid I have too much flab on my residual to get good control. Maybe later on after I’ve had one a while. This is my first definitive prosthesis.

Heading to the hospital for a follow-up appointment. Might come back home a toe amputee. If I don't amputate, I'll bear a few years with my body intact. If I do, I'll finally have a little nub to play with.

I'm going to try one but my nub has issues with sweat and so I think it will probably just end up falling off. We will see though.

Would you be interested in making a video about how you felt having to have multiple revisions since your first surgery? I have a friend who is going to have a revision and is scared to be cut more. I know it’s a scary thing to think about and discuss

    • @AmputeeOT

      Same girl.
I’ve used iontoporesis but I don’t have the patience for it. I tried drysol and some areas of my stump tolerates it but other areas don’t and in get an itchy rash. I’ve been using SweatBlock wipes and it does not eliminate the sweat entirely but does reduce it significantly. I tried the SweatBlock roll-on but it felt too slimy on my nub for my tastes.
I have hyperhydrosis in my hands and feet too so I’ve struggled with sweat my entire life
