  • It's been three years since Olympus revived the OM brand with the original OM-D E-M5. Are various subtle refinements and one knock-out new feature enough to give the EM-5 II a sufficient lead over its predecessor?

    Its good to know how reliable the Oly M5 is. A great small power Camera, ideal for outdoor activities.

      cant seem to put it down! I have the Nikon D750 and I hate the video settings!even with very nice 20mm f1.8 it made mediocre video at best!this is damn steady in my hands!

    He overlooked the significant improvements for video in this camera: 1080p @ 24, 25 and 60 fps, All-I compression, a fully articulating screen, and a headphone jack in the optional battery grip.

    Nice review because you skipped the typical technical mambo jambo that anyone can find from store or manufacturer site and you focused directly to subject changes and the handling with possibilities.
    Sure you didn't praise the 5-Axis IBIS or new video capabilities with framerate choices, but did something others didn't really show and it was this an new HR mode with a creative way.
    I thought that so short review is less informative, but actually surprised how much you got in.

    A little late to the game here. Great review! What is the L-bracket you are using on the E-M5II?

    Would be curious to see a hi-res shot at the beach with wave motion to see if you get the same results as the waterfall trying to get intentional motion blur to the wave action, but still with the use of a ND filter.

      We haven't tried this, but the general principle is the same. The only difference is that you'd likely need a slower shutter speed since waves won't be moving as quickly as the waterfall.

    If you had a choice between omd mkII with 12-40 2.8 and a 6d with 24-105L, which would it be?

    • @ProPhotoSupply
      @ProPhotoSupply  9 років тому

      That's a tough choice, and really depends on the needs of the photographer. The Olympus will be quite a bit smaller, but the Canon would like be preferred for those who don't mind carrying the extra bulk.

      Neverland Traders It is hard to compare these two camera. One is a FF and other M43. I just switched over from a Canon 6D (used the 24-105L for a brief period). I wanted a camera that had great IQ, portability factory, and nice selection of primes similar to Canon. So, Olympus M43 line was a clear winner.

    Also what tripod was that? Looked really compact.

      That was a Three Legged Thing Punk-series tripod (www.3leggedthing.com). They make a bunch of lightweight, compact tripods.

      +Bruno Soric Well, we wouldn't recommend it, but we have seen videos of people taking their OM-D E-M5s in the shower...
