I know I'm commenting on an older vid here, but I have to admit seeing slabs - and not just boards - of honey locust is cool. Used some for my benchtop in my shop. But it doesn't grow naturally in MN so those that are here aren't especially big. As hard as maple, just about as dense too.
Very nice indeed. How does american locust dry? Here in europe it is a extremely hard wood and it dries very differently depending on the thickness of the yearly growth rings, leading to a lot of distortion and play between different parts if the same board. Just curious! Thanks for sharing
well I've only ever cut it once before and that dried really flat. This log may act differently as its much much larger. I'll let you know once it's dry I guess.
I got it locally here in northeast Ohio. It was just about to be turned into firewood, I got this one and another piece of the same tree not as big as this one. Actually the other one belongs to my friend Steve but I'll be sawing it soon.
George who ever is behind the camera needs to buy a video camera stabilizer or give the camera to someone else that can hold the camera steady. I can't see how you can stomach (not vomit) watching this video !
I never knew that Honey Locust would be so beautiful.
Another great video.

It was a surprise for me too. Sometimes you just get lucky.
Beautiful slabs! The color& lines remind me of a tiger 🐅 which I ❤.
Wish I lived closer. I’d be a poor woman with beautiful slabs of wood 🤩. 👵🏻👩🌾❣️
