The SMPS is used to Provide DC power supply to a DC Relay and Proximity Sensor.

He used 12VDC relay. The supply to trigger the relay is 12V DC which comes from the SMPS box. The 220 volt AC supply is connected on the load side. The purpose of relay is to separate two connections, with one having to trigger the other.
