- A look at the work of Anne Kirkbride, who played Deirdre Barlow in Coronation Street for over 40 years. We sadly lost Annie in January 2015 and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Such a tremendous loss. You brought a light to the world Anne that still burns strong. RIP Anne and blessings to the cast and crew of Corrie.

Corrie will never be the same. I've watched since Anne started on CS. She was wonderful in her role as Dierdre, so funny and tender and loving. That wonderful voice will never be forgotten. RIP dear Anne.

She is right up there with Kathryn Hays (As The World Turns) and Victoria Wyndham (Another World) as one of the most Iconic Soap Opera Actresses of all time. Her and Gail hold a special part in Fans Hearts because she pretty much grew up on The Street.

God Bless Adam Woodyat for saying what he said. It kind of reminds me of when in 2009 when Guiding Light went off the air and when the Cast Members went on Stage for the last time, The Audience from other Soaps from The Young & The Restless, The Bold & The Beautiful, and others gave a Standing Ovation. Guiding Light was the prototype for every future Soap Opera since it was the Show that Bill Bell worked on before he created The Young & The Restless in 1973 and Co-Created Another World in 1964. Even if you didn't work on Guiding Light, you may have worked with a Soap Actor/Actress or even a Writer from Guiding Light.

I am guessing that they have her die because in the story she is visiting a friend, maybe a car crash of something. When Blanch died in Spain they had a funeral , so maybe they will do a similar thing.
I do hope so what a pair mr not been in coronation street miss blanche not been in there too oh well what to do what to say the coronation street need to take their finger at out of their asses wii u fans really do miss her i do but you do too

bobbbxxx On US Soil when a Soap Character dies in Real Life, they have to get Permission from The Family to do a Funeral Storyline. Sadly enough it doesn't happen right away. When Michael Zaslow (Ex-Roger Thorpe) Guiding Light died of Lou Gerig's Disease, they had to wait to do a Tribute to him.
Did I miss it? I didn't see them announce Dierdre's death or do anything regarding a funeral or whatever. It just seemed to me that they mentioned her less and less until they stopped mentioning Dierdre altogether. Did I really miss something?
