French Polynesia, October 2019 - Moorea and Tahiti

We spent 12 days on the water, searching for whales, dolphins, sharks and whatever we could find. We were quite successful and we had the opportunity to dive and snorkel with all types of fantastic creatures, both large and small. Special thanks to our friends, Gerry and Nancy, our trusted travel buddies, who made this trip even more incredible.

Wonderful video! Thank you for sharing! My husband and I are in Tahiti now and will be in Moorea next month for a month. We are advanced open water divers and also have the goal of seeing whales while we are here. Are there any tips or particular dive sites or areas you would recommend to help us have a similar experience to what you had?

Thank you. The Whales travel all around the Islands, so there is no particular site. However, operators usually know what spots they favor. We used Tahiti Shark Expeditions. Nico was an excellent guide and knows a lot about behavior. I would recommend staying out on all-day trips, instead of booking either a mornimg or afternoon trip. You can have your best experiences when the day boats go back to port and you may have the whales to yourselves, or without a big crowd of snorkelers.
