- Epic diving in the southern atolls of the Maldives, the encounters with mantas, whale sharks, grey reef sharks, silky sharks, hammerheads were amazing. Thanks to Omar and Axel Horn of Diverland Gan and the fantastic crew of the Carpe Vita, especially to our guide Ibbe Abdulla.
The very last footage of the whale shark was taken from the deck of the Carpe Vita with Panasonic lens 2.8 35mm cropped equal to 80mm FF and edited with timeramp in FCPX. So not so close as it might look.

Beautiful video! Went to Maldives last year but unfortunately didn`t saw whale sharks and just one manta! I was dreaming with whale shark encounter... Night dive with sharks was epic... love it! Nice you incorporate the important message about plastic in our ocean is needed more awaress!
Ich habe sieben Tauchgänge auf den Malediven gemacht. Auch wenn die Bilder toll sind live ist es einfach nur atemberaubend! Trotzdem sehr sehr geile Aufnahmen! Alles was nach solchen Tauchgängrn kommt, kommt echt nicht dran :) Gute Arbeit

The maximum depth of recreational diving is 30 m. Most of the divesites are around 25 m

How deep you need to go to found those fishes ?
You are not allowed in the Maldives to dive deeper than 30 meters by law, so no problem for recreational scuba diving.

Nice video! Like and subscribe! Am I right understand, you used Panasonic GH5 ? How can you get autofocus for this camera? It is really bad..... Could you say your settings for gh5?
I use only manual focus with a button for push autofocus. For the settings I use different presets for close up or wideangle. But to be honest, underwater it is really difficult to get the objects right in the focus.
What camera was used?

This looks brilliant ! I have dived in Tahiti/ Bora Bora, Mexico and Egypt.....but this looks incredible. Which Atoll. ....is this Ari Atoll, or near which island ? I am going in 2021 and would love to dive here.
The video covers many atolls, mainly in the South. The quality of dive sites differ due to the El Nino events in the recent years.

Southern atolls doesn't have much tourism in past hence its ecosystem was well preserved and less development was there in the past . It's difficult to have a sustainable healthy reef ecosystem in the country
