The 80s were the best time to be a teenaged American. I was born in 1969 and just turned 54 years young this year. The 80s were by far the best decade. When I look back over time my favorite memories are mostly ( not all ) from the 1980s. My grandparents always told me to slow down and enjoy the moment because one day you are going to wake up and say, “where has the time gone?” As I look in the mirror today and see a some what old person looking back at me, I think about things my grandparents told me and I smile because they were so correct. Where has the time gone?

I am turning 45 soon - and I say to myself: "What happened" For me, the 20th century was the peak/height of humanity - and the 1980s were probably the most exciting. I love the fact that around 10 years ago the New Retro Wave genre was created. It really highlighted the great synthesiser style music of the 1980s.

Miami Vice was one of the influences on me as a kid that eventually led to me owning a two-seat convertible roadster as an adult, and I've actually road tested this song in that car on a perfect summer day that slowly turns into a hot summer night. And I can confirm it is SUCH a mood. 😎🎵

I remember a summer night in Sarasota, Florida as a kid. Me and the guys had an awesome day of exploring, riding bikes, and trading Garbage Pail Kids cards. We were hanging out in the tent my dad helped me put up in the back yard that we were going to sleep in. My mom yelled out the back sliding glass door, "Miami Vice is on!" We shot out the front flap and sprinted inside to watch one of the best shows of the 80's. It was a perfect 80's day and a perfect 80's night for a kid growing up in Florida.
Born in 1969 myself and the 80s were really a great time to be a teenager.
...bring me back to the 80s where people were cool wearing shades, hair slick back, driving Ferrari or Lamborghini around the metro city, wearing eccentric blazers with shiny black boots and shiny accessories , listening to the smooth sound of saxaphone, all alone.
...when tattoos were only worn by shady people and women had a waist and a feminine hairdo.
I know someone who can help with that, but safety is not guaranteed, as he's only done it once before.
That's what a vibrant economy that works for pretty everybody looks like. Now the government barely spends anything to the percentage of GDP and all the money is in the hands of the top 20%. I don't like a lot of what Reagan did but spending 3 times the national debt while in office on infrastructure puts a lot money in the bottom 80% hands. You can't do that forever, though but there is no reason to ever pay back the debt either. After all that government is actually public savings mostly. We could do with less international debt but the Chinese seem to like buying US assets with that money so I guess it does kinda recycle back here. I would appreciate it if they stopped buying public housing and driving up the real estate market nationwide.

What happened. Society seems so sterilized compared to back then. As some one born in the 80's I feel like I missed out hard.

There is not even a single doubt that the 80s and 90s will be the best times no matter how many years will pass.That was the real life, no wifi bullshit ,no smartphones, social fucking media apps, JUST PURE LIFE! , Pure people enjoying every single moment of their lifes without posting a single shit on social media.Even the music was real not like todays garbage.And thats why people then where so happy and not like today where people get depressed beacuse they didnt get enough likes on instagram, im writing all this with tears rolling down my eyes from the nostalgia of knowing that there will be no more like this.i just thank god that i enjoyed my life back then.

We had, EVERY kind of music. Every kind of beauty. It was all for the taking. It was dirty and fun and nerdy and cool, before people realized how cool it was. It was the last of the good times. It was the best of all worlds. If you didn't live it, you can at least relive it through the music and film that we got to grow up with. It's not the same as being there. But even reliving it is better than what we have today.

I live in Florida. What they don’t show you is how much it feels like death when you go outside. Humidity and endless endless burning sun.
Had enough of that crap after 18 years. 3rd shift is MUCH better.

the price of have all this fun and hot chicks avaliable outside lol but the truth is that burn is due to the high level of UV, I lived in Rio and summer temps go up to 43 celsius 5 above florida max and even so we can support the 10 to 15 sun in Rio with cloths but can not stand the sun in Florida with lower temps.
