Excellent info! Another cheap rod for under 11$ can be found at walmart. It's the zebco slingshot 5'6" 2 piece rod medium light 1/16-3/4 oz spincast combo. It comes in different colors. I got it in red, and it looks nice with the Tsurinoya xf50 on it color wise. I also Handled another cheap one the other day, in walmart. South bend UL spincast combo with a 5' rod. I think it was somewhere under 20$. Was nice and noodle whippy. A really nice JDM rod in the 100$ price range, is the Abu Garcia Xrossfield medium light 6'6" 2 piece rod. I have this matched with a left handled Abu Garcia ALC BF7 reel, and it is a match made it heaven! It's like fishing a feather! Biggest fish I landed on it was a bass around 2 pounds. Another Abu Garcia one around 100$, is the Abu Garcia MASS BEAT EXTREME 5'6" 2 piece UL trout rod. I don't have any personal experience with this rod. On amazon there are a number of cheap chinese bait finesse rods. The rosewood ultralight king 6'0 2 piece rod, which is around 50$. It's a sexy rod, and is pretty soft and whippy. The johncoo 5'6" UL 2 piece rod. around 35$. I have one, it's decent. Another rosewood one is the RoseWood 1.8m ELVES I 602-UL $39.98, and RoseWood ELVES II $69.96. Both are 6'0, 2 piece and labeled as trout fishing rods, with lure ratings 0.8-5 grams. The Elves II has fuji parts in it. I have no experience with either of the elves rods as of yet.

The Zebco slingshot is a worthy consideration.

Another thing to think about and look for is, there are quite a few inshore saltwater casting rods that are rated down to 1/16 oz. I spotted the St. Croix Mojo series in an old bps catalog, a few min ago. They have a 7 foot light model with a moderate action rated 1/16-3/8 oz. for around 120$. I again have no personal experience with this rod or brand, but it looks good, and has some good reviews on bps. They still produce it too. Another inshore rod from that brand rate down to 1/16, I think they stopped production years ago or something. I really wonder what reels people are putting on these light inshore rods, if they rods are rated that light, and BFS reels are not really on the market here. At least it gives us BFS guys more rod options.

i have one of those BPS micro glass rods for my kids. be aware that its a noodle. the thing is like a very soft whip.
those Abu bassbeat 2 rods are pretty sweet. i have had several over the years. buying them and using them for a while then selling them off, only to find myself buying another one. since im in japan, they can be had for $60_$75 new depending on size and used for around $45. very solid rods for the money.
also have the majorcraft benkei 6'8 as my spinning set up and a 6'8 baitcaster as well. very solid rods. sensitive like a high dollar rod, but only around $100 new. only downside (sortof) are the ultra micro line guides. it can limit your options if you use a leader, so you have to be picky with the knots you choose. the last 4-5 line guides on those are tiny.
funny enough, i prefer the majorcrafts over my megabass levante rod for most applications.

I’m glad I stumbled on these videos. I’ve been looking for a bfs rod. I work at bass pro in tenn so it’s funny you mention those rods. I never considered any of those models. Check out the crankin sticks made by bass pro. There’s a med-lite model that seems suitable and it doesn’t have the cheesy pistol grip handle. That’s the one I’ve been debating.

Dont be afraid of Aliexpress rods. for the really light lures under 1/8th oz they work great and wont break the bank

I have my Tsurinoya xf50 on a BPS Uncle Buck's crappie rod model UB46LC, 4'6", 4-8lb test, 1/16-1/4 oz. This rod is priced at $15.99 and has performed really well. While I do like the Shakespeare UL rods, I have snapped the tip off two. I have also tried the BPS micro lite glass rod. Some people really seem to like that one, but the feel of it did not appeal to me at all. Probably a lack of experience on my part, but it feels so flimsy, it was difficult for me to make accurate casts. The Uncle Buck's rod has more backbone and feels great for $16!

I’ve personally owned the BPS Crappie Max rod. It’s a beautiful rod with a great moderate action. I loved mine until it unexpectedly snapped in half as my reel’s drag was operating. Only ever used 6lb. original Stren with it. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Thanks for the video! I actually just picked up 2 Shakespeare agility 7' ultra light rods for my xf50 and t rex reels. I got to try them tonight casting a castmaster with the xf50 while fishing bait with the t rex. I got a few bites on a gulp minnow at sundown but no trout today to say how they hold up, they cast all the lures I use for trout really well for a 29.99 rod, I have read a few negative reviews about the durability so time will tell. For now they seem like decent rods, a little long but very noodly, I will keep bringing them out until I get some fish on them.
I have also tried the zebco micro 33 camo rod and the ul telecast and they worked ok for me as well.

@@THEREELTEST no problem, they seem pretty good. They are a two piece rod but I do kind of like the extra length and little longer handle than the Shakespeare and zebco micro rods i own, which is more comfortable for me. The only thing I'm not as big a fan of is the rubber cork stuff on the handle. Check them out on amazon and Shakespeares website

How does the majorcraft corzza compare to the benkei?

    • @crswro1690
      @crswro1690 5 років тому +1

the corzza is a step up from the benkei. think of the benkei as the base model majorcraft.
the corzza is to majorcraft as the Levante line is to megabass. not top of the line, but not the base model either.
Tailwalk/Elan is another good rod builder over here in japan that a lot of people dont really know about. their Fullrange series rods are fantastic.

Sory but listing bunch of rods and rating them just from the pictures and components without at least holding them is nothing but bs. And major craft not have more BFS models than rest japan manufaxtures combined same abu japan alone can easy rival major craft by BFS like models selection
