Because his arc was literally stopped from progressing. Obviously at the beginning of The Last Jedi he SHOULD have had the line 'Where's Rey?' and then gotten fired up to go 'rescue' her. Partly because they have a bond, but also because of his hatred for Kylo Ren after he almost killed him, and did kill Han. I liked the concept that Finn perhaps could be the hero of the films whilst not having any force sensetivity, but Rey having all the force sensetivity but being terrified of using it and perhaps being more vulnerable to because of that.
I am convinced at this point the only reason they cast Boyega in these movies, was just for Disney to brag about having a black guy in the films. Cause I don't think anyone can deny, unless of course your really that blind or stupid that isn't what happened. His arc was more or less finished in TFA, and it's painfully clear they had no further plans for him after that, cause when we get to the next film, Rian just repeated his arc again for TLJ and sent him on a pointless side-quest with another diversity hire that had no overbearing effect on the story by the end. Then with the Rise of Retcons, JJ couldn't even be bothered repeating the same arc for Finn again, so he becomes nothing more then a tag-along side character, plus introduced another new character who had the exact same backstory as Finn from the first movie. So I guess all that bs from the First Order in TFA about Finn being the first and seemingly only defector was just a load of curd then? I am not in the least bit surprised that Boyega has stated that he's pretty much finished with Star Wars at this point.
The hardest one to pull off and took 20+ movies of build up actually worked out the best because they put one person who actually gives a shit in charge of all of it.
@@darkbrotherhood76 Marvel does the same shit? Their movies are mostly different genres despite all featuring superheroes. Iron Man is sci-fi action, Captain America was a war movie and then an espionage style movie, Thor is fantasy, the Ant Man movies play like buddy comedies, Guardians of the Galaxy are space epics/comedies, etc. It's not like every movie has been Iron Man since 2007. In either style or plot progression. Thry even have a horror movie coming with Doctor Strange 2 and a raunchy comedy with Deadpool 3. Star Wars is the property that they're playing it too safe with. This new trilogy has been run on pure nostalgia.

@@jasonnelson5251 You are wrong. The worst part was the subplot about (Rey Palpatine / Rey Skywalker). Which, The Last Jedi tried to avoid by making Rey a no one. The other worse part was including Palpatine, which The Last Jedi also avoided. The one to blame is JJ Abrams, and whoever supported his vision.
@@doomsday4311 The Last Jedi is consistent with the lore of the Prequels and the Original Trilogy. All of the Jedi were a bunch of hypocrites, of course Luke Skywalker defied them in the Original Trilogy. But is super logical that he got super dissapointed and bitter when he realized what his religion stood for. And all the mistakes they made and how they damaged everyone. You could say: *They ruined his father's life (because they only cared about the first world problems, leaving his slave mother die in the problems of the third world. Maul is basically an Anakin had not met Qui-jon). *They also ruined Ahsoka's life (accusing her without evidence). *They also ruined Qui-jon's lives by not allowing him to be a Jedi-master, despite being the closest to a Jedi they had at the time. *And they ruined Obi-wan's life too. By making him their puppet, and ruining all of Qui-jon's life- teachings. The Rise of Skywalker is the one that contradicts the whole Saga by rugging all those problems under the table, and no-sense go back to deify the old Jedi. Instead of having the actual logical thing which would had been having an honest conversation about it, which the Last Jedi properly and logically set up. Then, Luke Skywalker contradicts everything he stands for, the whole Original Trilogy ends with Luke Skywalker undoing the sins of the Father and the sins of the Jedi by throwing away his lightsaber. Obi-wan and Yoda had told him to kill his father Anakin Skywalker that he was beyond redemption, but Luke Skywalker knew better, and believed in the good inside his father. And disobeys them by throwing his weapon saber to save his father. Then he does the same thing in The Last Jedi, he throws the lightsaber to save his nephew because the same reasons. He believes there was good in him, but The Last Jedi explores what if Luke Skywalker had been wrong, and the whole point is that no matter what Luke Skywalker will always believe in the goodness inside his family. His whole arc is to state his belief that not picking the lightsaber was the right thing to do and that he believes in pacifism. That is why Kylo Ren considers him a coward, it contrasts his overly millitaristic views of having to be prepared with a huge army to protect the galaxy. And that love won't save it, Kylo Ren totally blames Luke Skywalker's pacifism for the tragedy that happened at Luke Skywalker's temple, and for his fighting skills being so weak that Rey defeated him (which the whole The Last Jedi main-plot of bloodlines are meaningless was the only way to thematically justify the point). That's why Kylo Ren took whatever means necessary to achieve more power and a bigger army. Luke picking the lightsaber and asking Rey to kill her father is a complete character betrayal that completely betrays everything the character stands for without any explanation. The only way to fix it is to say the ghosts of Luke Skywalker was Palpatine, and also the ghosts of all the Jedi. Palpatine being all the voices in Rey's head, the Palpatine power that is established and then forgotten. Or how about Chewbacca and Palpatine, and the robot hacker's resurrection undoing the healing powers when basically everyone can resurect without needing those powers. Then don't even get on JJ Abrams making all of characters of color less important. The Last Jedi actually explained all of The Force Awakens remake no-sense that explained nothing and instead wasted too much time in a remake scenes that were not necessary for the plot in any meaningful way. It didn't deserved a theatrical realese, as other than Han Solo's death, it's plot resembles more that of a McDonald's tie-in comic prologue.
@@luizmarinho6138 I think it was RIAN(not Ryan) Johnson who did the deed. The Force awakens might have been a clone of New Hope, but it got use excited for whats next. It it greatly disappointed!!!!
@@recommendedforyou2936 Especially since they haven't (from what I know...I haven't seen the movie yet) validated the Darth Plagueis "Legends" novel. They might have to in order to re-retcon how Sidious survived. If, somehow when Palpatine killed his master, Plagueis possessed his body when Sidious believed he killed him; it would make the "resurrection" of Palpatine make more (not all) sense. But this is just me. Since he was never part of the plan, they'll need to have books and whatnot come out that explain the reason for Palpatine's survival. (Something post RoTJ but before TFA).
This trilogy has been like breaking up with someone and then going back to them thinking that you know what went wrong and how to fix it only to find that it gets worse and worse and then you just feel hate.
I think the part that annoys me the most is how they just removed Finn's potential story. Kidnapped and forced to become a stormtrooper. Did want to kill anymore, defected and joined the rebels. They branded him with the blood mark so you thought he was going to do something big. Then it goes even farther to have him hold a lightsaber and have a small fight with Kylo Ren. That felt different. A storm trooper that is force sensitive? What happened? Why just throw his story away?
Yeah you would also think being a storm trooper all your life you wouldn't just betray them in a heartbeat and kill people he has known all his life without a second thought.
yeah totally agree, if they made his character a bit more like Kyle Katarn (a total BADASS), then I feel like the movies would've been so much better. Hopefully, maybe, in the future thoe
SPOILERS BECAUSE IMMA TALK ABOUT A THEORY THAT DIDN'T PAN OUT I read the theory that Finn would inspire a Stormtrooper rebellion. Something like that... kinda happens, but it's not as cool and would have given him a greater purpose. I usually don't like saying "they should have done this" but I honestly prefer mine and other's ideas to the canon.
@@TheHappyHuntsman Totally agree then he would have also had knowledge of the Empire's tactics and strategies to help out the Rebels but also if he did become a Jedi instead of Ren, maybe he had friends in the Empire so he could have gone back and forth between the dark side and light side without any questions by the audience when given some heart felt dialogue and manipulation of emotions. Plus then Ren and him could have been an emotional tie to keep him invested in the Rebel cause like how Han Solo and the Princess were fighting together with the Rebels. One other thing I thought about is Finn just knowing codes and how to speak as a Storm Trooper to get past alarms and steal information, etc like how they did in Rogue One and maybe he finds info on his family (maybe the Rebels actually killed them or something)
Finn should have been a person who doesn't want to kill anybody. He tried to actually save first order storm troopers (since he was one himself). That would have been a very interesting story line.
That is one thing that irritates me about these movies. I have yet to see 'The Rise of Skywalker', but I've heard that completely sh*t on Anakins sacrifice...The only thing halfway decent in these movies was Adam Driver. Had his character been written worth a flip, he could have been an amazing character throughout the Trilogy..
@@thomasjefferson2813 were Luke and Rey literally created from the Force? No, it was just Anakin, he was the Chosen One told from the prophecy. George Lucas said it himself! He never said it was also Luke!

I was excited for the future of the franchise because I honestly thought they would reveal him to be Plagueis which would have been a nice way to tie the 9 movies together. But nope. Lets kill him off half way through the 2nd movie cause "Got to subvert the audiences expectations" or something.
I still safely rank TFA as my favourite. Which makes it all the more of a wtf situation that this movie might wind up as my least fav. But that said, I dislike Attack of the Clones a LOT. This has to be a pretty terrible movie to make the bottom of my list.
What's surprising to me is how the comment section remains so spoiler-free still. I remember back when TFA was about to be released, we had spoilers all over the internet. Now even the trolls don't care lol
Because now it's even more of a troll move to let people go in without knowing what happens and be disappointed themselves so they can say..."Told you so"
Because there's nothing interesting to talk about. Just watched it and I can't think of something I could tell to troll a SW fan. It's just that blank.
So like, what's gonna stop The Emperor coming back a third time? Obviously his death had zero significant consequences in Return of the Jedi, so why is his death in The Rise of Skywalker any more of a reason that he's gone for good??
They eradicated the entire sith order from existence at the end, it would be like dracula trying to come back to life after thanos snapped vampires out of existence. He isn't just dead, he doesn't even exist anymore.
@@fecxorfecxor768 I just kinda inferred that, since he said he had all the sith in him, and when he died all the "sith ghosts" (for lack of a better word), kinda exploded into dust (if I remember correctly).

The thing is even after TFA it still could've happened, imagine Finn actually becoming a Jedi and going against Phasma.. These films play like badly told fan fiction.. And I say badly because I'm sure there's plenty of fan fiction with better story telling than these films.
I legit thought the concept was good, then Finn just became normal immediately in Last Jedi. No PTSD, no transitioning. Directly a good guy with good intentions. Could've even made him unstable once in a while to make people question his current situation and persona. But no, he became friends with everyone and everyone's okay with it day 1. Like wtf.

For all the problems, issues and overall execution of the Prequels (and my grievances haven't subsided regardless of the quality of this trilogy) there was at least some semblance of a plan in place. A beginning, middle and end. I can at least give them that at the very least. I cannot in any sense say the same for this trilogy. It's the dictionary definition of a cluster fuck. I don't think I've seen a series of movies so narratively disconnected since Paul W.S Anderson's Resident Evil movies or even the Highlander series.
skekSo the Emperor you are very right. Another thing is that the prequels have a somewhat compelling story with the clone wars probably being the best era of Star Wars. The sequels however copy and paste the original trilogy but throw in worse supplements with the only interesting thing being the clone of darth vader
TriFi I never understood why people hate the CGI so much. The CGI aged well and compared to the modern movie industry it isn’t all that different in their usage. The only issue with the Prequels were the execution. The story itself makes sense and is actually pretty good, especially if you take Clone Wars into account
@@123GOHANZ a lot of ppl dont like the CGI because the overuse makes the movies look like cartoons and was a stark contrast from the visuals of the OT.
there is probably many ways of doing time travel in a really good way the problem is that most of them the writer/s have to write and question it at all times so it closes itself nicely enough that the only ways to say there is a plot hole on it is to say something even crazier should have happen to make it so. plus it should be more entertaining than just not doing it in the first place. if you have those 2 things you have a nice time travel plot. that means you should have someone that is free to do it and the studio should not influence unless they have someone that is better than the writer/s at doing his job analyzing and having a clear better way of doing it.
Paul FN While I don’t think it’ll bomb, I doubt it’ll make more money than TFA. I would say it will make less money than TLJ, but the fact that this is the last film in the trilogy or “saga”(I still don’t think it should be considered a part of the sky walker saga) might get enough people wanting to see how it ends to beat out TLJ.
The most upsetting part in my opinion is that the characters actually aren't bad from their inception. They're written as decent characters with a lot of potential. But then they fuck it up from there and throw away everything that COULD have made them memorable and lovable.
Rey and Kylo fighting in the throne room of a destroyed death star is a great visual for this trilogy. How that death star wasn't disintegrated is anyones guess.
The problem with Member Berries is they already spend years shitting on the true fans so why should they be excited about nostalgia bait that was already subverted?
Yyyyep. Big missed opportunity there. It also makes no sense. I thought Rey was just going to say Rey again confidently, or even use the name Palpatine for good, but no Luke and Leia's ghosts silently adopt her I guess for the least interesting path possible.
It’s interesting watching Jeremy’s character arc with the franchise. He started off so naive and optimistic but slowly became more cynical and broken as he was forced to confront the evil force that is Disney Star Wars
This story tells a compelling story, it's too bad it's sort of like the prequels. You keep the general idea but unfortunately the story telling wasn't up to par.

At least in the Expanded Universe they explained how they brought him back-cloning, plus help from the Ancient Sith Spirits who helped Palpatine's soul get back in the real world.
A friend dragged me to the theater to watch it, and I nearly had an aneurysm from all the plot holes, editing choices, and stuff that made no sence. EA could have written a better plot than what Disney did.
Making antagonists in a story look silly and dumb is an important component of satire comedy. Silly antagonists can't be taken seriously, their appearance and bearing neutralizes any sense of foreboding or threat, their appearance in a scene instantly defuses and evaporates whatever buildup or emotional investment was created with the previous scene or was planned with the succeeding scene which is now emotionally sabotaged, while the protagonists are robbed of their heroism since they are facing a parody villain who we are still busy laughing at which reflects poorly upon the protagonists. Having said all of this, this trilogy is indeed the sequel to Spaceballs, except inferior. Palpatine being one of the most intelligent, wise, cunning, calculating politicians in the Galaxy yet reduced to the state of a mental castrate who fries his own face with force lightning for the 3rd time already without ever learning is quite a good example of comedy satire writing.
Kylo Ren's helmet is a perfect analogy for this trilogy First Movie: Cheap knock-off of a much better original Second Movie: Smash it all to hell and pretend it doesn't matter Third Movie: Piece it back together desperately in an attempt to salvage what you have left...

Actually I'm just gonna say it, the score William's produced for this trilogy is probably the weakest in the entire Saga. Hell the weakest set of scores he's done for any movie in his career. I literally do not remember any memorable or stand out scores for this trilogy. If it's not him reusing a score from the better movies, what little new he does bring really isn't up to par with what's come before. For all the problems with the Prequel films everyone knows Duel of the Fates, Battle of the Heroes, Love Across the Stars, Jango's Escape, Trade Federation theme, Escape from Naboo theme or the Order 66 theme. I don't know if it's partly due to the fact Williams didn't have the London Symphony Orchestra like he had for the first six movies, or maybe fitting with the theme of this trilogy in being unmemorable and lazy Williams himself just decided to phone it in.
One year later, and a major area I disagree is Kylo Ren's theme. I think it's one of the better themes of the whole series. Definitely the best theme of this trilogy.

Not like that mah dude its like
"REEEEEEEYYYYYYYYY!!!!!"
Your Finn sounds like he's high on weed😂

Last jedi the root of all the problems
@@rosvel92 The Last Jedi is an abomination, it shouldn't have seen the big screen at all
@@doomsday4311 The Last Jedi is consistent with the lore of the Prequels and the Original Trilogy. All of the Jedi were a bunch of hypocrites, of course Luke Skywalker defied them in the Original Trilogy. But is super logical that he got super dissapointed and bitter when he realized what his religion stood for. And all the mistakes they made and how they damaged everyone. You could say:
*They ruined his father's life (because they only cared about the first world problems, leaving his slave mother die in the problems of the third world.

SPOILERS BECAUSE IMMA TALK ABOUT A THEORY THAT DIDN'T PAN OUT
I read the theory that Finn would inspire a Stormtrooper rebellion.

A beginning, middle and end. I can at least give them that at the very least. I cannot in any sense say the same for this trilogy. It's the dictionary definition of a cluster fuck. Baffles me that they didn't have an actual plan for these movies.
I agree!
They DID! Lucas gave them one. They THREW IT OUT!
I thought that’s the whole point of the story group
Why? They spelled that all out when Poe was asking for the exact same thing 🤣🤣🤣
They did they just didn't use it
Kennedy: From my point of view the fans are evil.
Fans: Then you are lost.
😂😂😂 That was good
Na, the fans are evil retards!
And we still lose. 😒
You do realize there are fans who like the films right? Not saying this new one, since I haven't seen it. But I've been a SW fan for the past 27 years and I love the new films, TLJ more so than TFA.
Do you people ever stop being incels?
For 5 seconds?
I forgot this is what Jeremy actually looks like. I’m so used to Pandemic Jesus as he looks right now
Looks at thumbnail: oh maybe it’s a good movie
Jeremy: Sorry for trolling you in the thumbnail
Me: I’ve got a bad feeling about this
Looks at thumbnail: oh man, maybe Jeremy has become a Disney shill
Watches video: oh man, Jeremy has still got it
I've actually been picturing Jeremy doing something like this for a couple days.
Figured he'd have the happy demeanor on the thumbnail then we get to the review.
Smiles gone, turns off lightsaber, removes bedsheet, then shakes his head in disgust.
"Ok, let's review this trash fire." -_-
“i don’t care if they f*** or not lets save the galaxy”
God if they only understood that
Yeah let's save the galaxy really sums up star wars. Too bad they never show any interesting planets or any cool lore
What?!?!? You mean Rey and Kylo fucked using the Force?
hi yng. taco bell burittooooo
Meanwhile...
The Asian actress, her main harassers are millions of Chinese calling her a Viet pig and such as China wasn't keen on TLJ and kicked it out of theaters 2 weeks in for all the negative criticism from Chinese citizens towards the movie, and there is mutual hatred between Viet and Chinese people.
Meanwhile Reylo fans are mostly SJWs and Feminists, and Daisy and Adam had to get a time off from social media because Reylo stans were doxxing them, calling up their families, harassing them.
So they F@$king ! so lightsabers are now sex toys. And the force is a orgasm. Guess KK got her wet dream. Thanks JJ.
Man, Jeremy almost shed a tear when he say that this movie is the least favorite Star Wars film for him. I feel ya buddy.
BANKAI
It cant be worst then Episode 2.
Did anybody notice that the last episode of Mandolorian is titled “Redemption”. Almost like they new that Star Wars needed it after Rise of Skywalker
the first 10 minutes of that episode was better then anything this trilogy has spit out.
This is the way....towards redemption for the franchise
Any episode of The Mandalorian is better than the entire prequel and sequel trilogy
Isn’t it the rescue
@@MetaMikeG No, that’s Season 2. This comment was made a year ago, when Season 1 had just finished
We are in the dark timeline
Jeremy sounds so broken at the disappointment :(
Yes, he looks like he's on the verge of tears. So disheartening 😣
I agree. I’m kinda anxious about what the spoiler review will be like. Could just be one long rant. Who knows.
Doctor strange- we are in the Endgame now
We really are in an alternate timeline right now.
MCU ended great yes but now both GOT and Star Wars have the worst endings a writer can make.
Post credit scene:
Jar Jar opens an ancient chamber and reaches inside to grab a red lightsaber.
"Fine..Meesa do it myself."
Its Impossible to not read those words in his voice
That would improve the Disney trilogy immeasurably.
You’ve just saved the Saga
I would genuinely approve of this
Honestly, thats a way better movie plot than episode 9. So disappointed :(
“I felt nothing.”
True story
That is my feeling with the last 3 movies, including solo
Yup, we're basically in a timeline where a Star Wars movie gets a "Will forget in T-Minus 1 day", and that's super sad.
Star Wars: The Force Repeats Itself
Star Wars: The Fuck Were They Thinking
Star Wars: The Rise of Damage Control
Nice man
The middle one got me xD
ha, calling tRoS "damage control" is generous. if J.J. wanted to do damage control, all he needed to was follow the plot threads left dangling in TLJ, which he did not
Yeah this is pretty accurate. Episode VII was a bit on the nose with its rehashing of Episode IV, but it was still fun and enjoyable, and although Rey's character was shallow and Daisy's acting was...not very good to say the least, it was satisfactory and worth watching.
Episode VIII though was infuriating for how much potential they wasted. And Episode IX was just trying to fix everything that got wrecked in the previous film.
LOL Piss off with that nonsense. The Force awakens is a VERY fun and awesome movie. Just because it has a similar style to a new hope, it's still a fantastically fun movie to watch with great action, good humor, fantastic visuals, likable characters and amazing sequences. The movie DOES have imagination AND creativity than just "repeats itself". The force awakens was amazingly fun to watch despite it's scattered issues but the other two movies, not so much.
"After 40 years, THIS is IT?!"
- Anthony Daniels on EP IX.
"Daniels obviously can not give much away but he teases: "C-3PO has a major arc. I am very satisfied with what I had to do in this movie and I am very satisfied with everything I know about this movie."
"People should be respectfully critical. The toxicity was so shocking and unpleasant. And often wrong. To be venomous and cruel is against the ethos of a story about goodness.
"I get tweets from people saying they will never watch another Star Wars film again. Well, I bet they do. Everybody needs to see how it ends.
"And I hope they do because, from everything I have seen so far, it is really rather good.""

I thought this trilogy was a tragedy...
Now I realize...
It’s a comedy...
Did you ever Heard the tragedy of the sequel trilogy
@@ebonkinght prequels are way better than this mess.
Comedies are funny.
@@ebonkinght disney is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be nonsensical.

Brilliant analogy indeed!
I feel that this review may be better than the actual movie.....
This comment is so tiring
No the movie... IS AMAZING!
It actually is
Actually I'm just gonna say it, the score William's produced for this trilogy is probably the weakest in the entire Saga.
Rey’s theme is pretty good
Exactly. Music is such a HUGE part of Star Wars and it’s just another area the Sequels utterly fail.
One year later, and a major area I disagree is Kylo Ren's theme. I think it's one of the better themes of the whole series. Definitely the best theme of this trilogy.
