You just need to get your A&P license. Or you can either join the Air Force or Navy and get into the Electrical and Evironmental systems in the AF or the Electrical/Egress systems in the Navy. I was a Electrical and Environmental systems craftsman in the Air Force. Maintaining the Electrical systems is complex on any aircraft but it is rewarding. Going with the A&P license or joining the military will also give you collage credits towards a degree in Aviation Science/engineering.
The GCU (Generator Control Unit) controls the Starter Generator during both engine start and generation phases. 1. The GCU controls the Starter Generator (SG) to maintain a predetermined current for engine start. 2. After the engine is up to speed, it will change bus contactor states to put the starter generator in generate mode. 3. During generation, the GCU provides voltage regulation, and if 2 SGs are present, will balance the loading between them. 4. Provides protection logic for the generation system such as reverse current, over voltage, undervoltage, ground fault, over current, or short circuit. Hope this helps!

Hmm... why do you have CTs in a completely DC system? Or the CTs on the sensed buses acts as magnetic amplifiers to sense DC current?
