Randy's DIY, I just changed my crankshaft position sensor this morning the way you described in your video. Worked amazing! Less than an hour, no intake removal needed. I used a drain snake cleaner with the claws to remove and replace the hold down bolt. Did final tightening and initial loosening of the hold down bolt with the ratchet. Thanks for this video!
Hi Randy, your video is awesome, I tried to do it myself this morning on my 328i 09, but it wasn't easy at all. looks simple on your video, but the real thing is the lack of space and all the tight parts involved, with 300K miles on my car, the sensor is basically part of the engine, I was able to take the sensor screw out and then I lost it, of course. Tomorrow my mechanic friend is coming over just to take out the intake, replace the sensor and I will assemble back all the remaining parts. At least I tried to do it, in my case, it is recommended to take out the intake as I will need more force to get that sensor out. Thank you.
Thank you so much. I just replaced the same part following your step by step instructions. it was a pain reaching down to pry that sensor, which took most of the time.
Everything went smooth until the very end, over tighten the aluminum bolt and snap it. My fault for not using a torque wrench, learn from my mistake everyone.
I have to replace mine soon, went ahead and picked up an inch pound wrench which I will also use for the oil pan. Use them for low torque specs like 6ft lbs. So it is 6x12 for the right ft lb spec (72 in lbs).
Hi Randy great video! Can I ask how to DIY the coolant floater that seems to got stuck that’s why I always get a coolant warning. I just had a coolant drain done and it started to show after.
Tip: Wiring harness location can be seen by looking through manifold loops 5 and 6 with a flashlight. The 3 harness wires are yellow orange and blue. I have a 2011 bmw 328i xdrive. I put my e10 deep socket and swivel in and then through the 5 and 6 manifold loop, I connected my ratchet using a 3,6, and 9 inch extension. So I had one hand holding it in place and the other working the ratchet. I grabbed piers (not gripping too tight), twisted the sensor counter clockwise and clockwise until it started to come out. Not too bad of a job people!!! Don’t let the stealership take your money.
It is required in order to reach in and grab the sensor. You then need to remove the sensor from the plug. I went ahead and removed the intake elbow as well, just to give myself more space.
I have change the camshaft sensor on from under the valve cover gasket still have same issue. I didn’t not know anything bout this sensor (another camshaft sensor) so I’m guessing 3 of them? My symptoms are ruff start and die after driving 10mn hopefully this will fixed my issue 2008 328i I have replaced vanos selenoids/secondary air pump/spark plugs/engine coil/throttle rubber ring and the two camshaft position sensor front the valve cover area. Code I have p0365
If you still have the car do yourself a favor and invest in a BMW specific scanner that will give you many of the BMW specific codes which will point you in a better direction. The Schwaben 10420SCH is a good bet and can be expanded with more models later if need be. I just added a new one (KIA) so now I can scan the folks car too.
Hey buddy I got the same code as you the p1727 i also got codes, for maf sensor and 2a19 2e7c any idea I was thinking it was my mass airflow sensor I'm not getting any reading from my mass air flow sensor they say it could be a wire I got the triangle light on my Dash DSC transmission control unit light also came up if you have any ideas please let me know thanks or if you need a better description
Did you ever figure this out?? I replaced mine and this is popping up. I went back down there and made sure it was plugged in. It seemed fine. Idk what the deal is.
Tell tell me why what you're doing you talk about these different codes but you didn't explain what the problems were I was trying to understand what you're saying but how the codes enter fear with each other and what they do and how they do it do they stall do they work thanks
Those are camshaft positions sensors, this is crankshaft position sensor. They are all identical sensors but different lol I know. I ordered all 3, luckily I didn’t take them out the box til I installed all of them. U can easily mix them up and be screwed.
You must ensure the new sensor is fully seated to the block. If not, it might not read the crank ring properly. Apply a small film of oil on the o-ring and place it in the shouldered area of the block THEN insert the sensor. This makes it much easier to properly insert the sensor thus fully seating it.
Hey randy im having same issue with my car.hows your car now ever since you replaced the sensor?my car cranks long time before start.and check engine came out..i got the same code p0335 .im just curious hows your car now
in todays episode we are gonna change out this crankshaft sensor...ok you start by taking half the car apart and cuss multiple times as you break all the plastic crap...ok good job now you have to replace 20 other things while putting this sensor in.

Thank you!! I used your video to guide me and managed to change my sensor in about an hour, just checked and car turns on and runs great! Thank you!

Thank you. The last video said I had to remove the intake manifold
Thanks for the well done video. Going to use this info and am changing this out this weekend.

Man you saved me a lot off money with this video thanks 🙏🏼
Everything went smooth until the very end, over tighten the aluminum bolt and snap it. My fault for not using a torque wrench, learn from my mistake everyone.
Just did that 🤦🏼♂️

Thanks for the video. Just finished replacing the sensor on my 2008 328xi.

Great video Randy 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
thank you and thanks for watching
I’ve seen others also do this with the car on the lift, doing the work from underneath.
Great show 👏. What were your symptoms that it was bad ?
thanks for watching. delay start
Why did you remove the snorkel and air system? We arent even working in that area.

Thank you
Can this be a reason for my car to start?
Can be, but you better scan it before replacing parts.
thank you!!
where are u located?
Great vids

@@randysdiy Thanks for posting videos.
@@TMichaelJKnivestmichaeljknives you’re welcome my friend
I thought the 2 position sensors came in the front of the engine

The video is awesome fix it right on up
Hi will I be able to do this with a 328xi?
Also did you disconnect your battery?
anyone know why when i changed my sensor it made my car run worse and still has p0335 code. i have a 2007 e90
did you use original or aftermarket sensor?

I replaced my camshaft and crankshaft sensors and now my car won't start at all
