actually, in season 2 they focus more on the teeniepings and the lore, villians etc. than just catch teeniepings, maybe you should watch season 2 and give it a try because i feel like season 2 is WAYYYY better
Yea plus, out of season 1 and 2, most of the good episodes are in this season I also like season 3, I finished it and they actually show the bg teeniepings a LOT more than in s1 and s2, even after their own episodes and I really like that. Might be my fave season

Honestly it seems like they didn't even try. They just took all the magical girls tropes and formulas and mushed them in a ln extended toy comercial. They clearly made this not for kids but probably for toddlers or younger who can jump in at any point and understand everything. Even if you look at glitterforce who you could say brought down Smile's original target audience from 6-12 to 4-8 y.o they at least had a plot one had to follow. This is just brainmush, which is not a bad thing especially when it's not to the level of CocoMelon, but it's definatly not a quality prodouct.
To be fair, it’s not the only toy commercial show out there, but I would agree that it seems like the target audience is toddlers on up. Maybe starting at 3/4 and they age out around 8/9?

I actually have a theory for what might have led to Romi’s personality inconsistency, that you mention at 5:10 Basically, I think the reason Romi was somewhat mean in those early episodes might have been due to the Korean studio that made this show taking influence from a certain type of magical girl heroine. As I’m sure you have heard before due to your experience in magical girl media, the protagonists of these shows back during the beginnings of the genre, could actually be quite mean at times, and like.. morally grey! Characters like the first magical girl ever, Akko Chan for instance, makes pretty big mistakes nearly every episode, especially early in the show before she develops. And while Akko is not at all a bad person overall (I mean she’s just a kid afterall, and is growing up), I think maybe the Korean studio that made Teenieping may have taken influence from these characters. What further influenced me to think this is when I checked out several other Korean cartoons and I noticed how much they were inspired by the anime that have been released in Korea. For example I checked out “Flowering Heart,” a very visually gorgeous 2d animated magical girl show that is mostly slice of life focused, similiar to early magical girl series. However, the show had a large focus on a mascot X magical girl romance, that reminded me so, so heavily of Yes Precure 5. I then suddenly remembered when I heard about Yes5 getting a Korean dub, and even a quite well known one at that, and things suddenly clicked! I think Romi was written to be somewhat mean, because they were taking influence from other magical girl shows, but they didn’t quite understand it. And Cardcaptor Sakura, the eternal classic from 1997, also has a very relatable, and sometimes rude protagonist (fighting Syaoran and holding grudges. Very innocent and not bad for a 6 year old, but still another example of magical girls sometimes doing the “wrong” thing. And yep, when I looked it up, Cardcaptor also had a Korean release and seems to be quite beloved. So, yep, that seems to be the cause here: Romi’s personality is being inspired by other Japanese series, but when they made this show they didn’t quite understand how to properly transition from the morally grey actions of early-show magical girls, to the ways that those same girls developed and became nice. So we are left with a sort of bizzare feeling protagonist. Now, to be clear, I’m not saying this as a hater of Teenieping or of Korean animation. I actually love Korean Animation, even Korean magical girl series (I actually thought Flowering Heart was sweet and awesome, and I’m also a big fan of Korean mecha shows, which as you’d expect all seem to be pretty inspired by anime. Many of the Korean mecha shows I watched, immediately give me Voltron and Transformers vibes lol! So yeah, I don’t say any of this to hate on Korean animation or to hate on Teenieping. I just thought it was really interesting! By the way, amazing work with this video I utterly adore the way you covered this series, it’s so awesome seeing your analytical and entertaining review style, applied to a series outside of Precure. Fantastic work. ❤

Just my opinion but i feel like your should judge it mainly on the original korean dub like you do with other shows, also i feel like some really good parts of the show didnt really get mentioned like the effects and designs By the way teeniepings are not just based on emotions, overall I understand you dont really like it and i respect your opinion Maybe if you give season 2 a chance in its original dub you might like it because it does become even more higher budget
I mainly used the dub for my own amusement but, I can understand the frustration that I didn’t use the original. I did experience some of the show in Korean and I can say that the voice work is at least better, but since I don’t speak Korean, I would have been relying on the Netflix subtitles, and they seem to be mostly the same as the dub, so I still would have had the issues with the dialog. The teeniepings definitely aren’t just based on emotions and that becomes obvious, but when the subheading for the first season is “fairies of emotion” and that’s the pitch, you can’t blame me for raising a brow when we deviate from that pretty quick. I might give season 2 a chance down the line when I have some free time and maybe it does get better. I saw a clip of season 3 and the set design got a lot better. I wouldn’t say I hate the show or anything, but it’s certainly a very flawed show and with the way it’s aiming for a very young audience, I personally ended up finding it rather tedious. I think part of that comes down to the length of the first season, which could easily have been cut in half.
@@magicalgirlmel3289 i understand, but i dont think calling it "low budget" is the right word because the show is detailed, the designs are good, the effects are amazing and not to mention SAMG animation is one of the most expensive studios that even miraculous have stopped hiring them to animate the show, now they only do the specials. SAMG hired another studio with more accurate translation for season 2 so the subtitles are at least correct

I actually really love this show a lot and even think it’s better than Miraculous but I see where you’re coming from. The English dub sucks too. There are some things that I do dislike about the show but in the end I still very much love it.
Love your content but do you think you’d ever watch Precure seasons out of order or maybe do a random spinner to pick 3 seasons and then let viewers decide which they want to see next? (Not trying to tell you how to run your channel at all btw) but I think this could help with engagement a lot just an idea :) love your breakdowns of shows
While I understand how that could be fun and could help with engagement. Part of the reason I chose to watch Precure this way (before I even had started the channel, I watched FW and MH), was because I wanted to see the evolution of the series. How it changed over time in order and how the choices of one season led to the choices in the next. 😊

First of all I live your videos and enjoy watching them in my free time though the only problem I have with this vid is that you didn't mention the official ar game which basically turns your phone into the catcher Roni uses where you can also transform and catch teeniepings since I fell like the game is a big part of the franchise
I mean, I only watched the show. I didn’t talk about the AR game because I straight up wasn’t aware of it until now. Haha. I’m mostly concerned with the storytelling of the show so I didn’t do terribly much research into things like that.

It’s… hit and miss. For better or worse, I’m too deep into things right now to ever leave, and I do still like some of the characters, but there are parts that do really frustrate me. For example, the whole Chloe and Lila team up at the end of season 5. Fun from a character interaction standpoint! Horrible from a plotting standpoint! In no world would a teenager basically be allowed to just declare herself mayor of Paris, and that part is so far off from reality it took me entirely out of the show for the entire episode even if there were individual character moments I liked.
If I do, I can only cover the second season. While the third is entirely out, no official sub or dub exists yet and the amount of people watching this thing is so small that while you can get clean raws of the show, there’s no visible fansubbing efforts happening. 🤷♀️ Season 2 is half the size of season 1 though…

What are you thoughts between Miraculous Ladybug after Season 3 to 5?

Tokyo Mew Mew 2002 or 2022 anime. Also Sailor Moon Crystal is another suggestion.
I’ve watched Sailor Moon Crystal all the way through as well as Tokyo Mew Mew New (2022). I never watched the 2002 series, but I did read the manga!
