I'm a graphic designer who regularly goes to the one here in San Diego and have made so many great friends and business connections through attending. It's a great resource if you want to surround yourself with more people in the creative industry.
I'm from Chicago although I admit the 4 seasons ARE nice (when we get them, winters here lasts a really really long time) Id love to trade it for sunny Cal where I can go anywhere and there's beautiful mountains and the ocean...no having to warm up your car before going out or scraping the ice of your car😤

Girl I love your videos and I love that you're in New York! Something that I've noticed about people who move here is that they pay too much for the apartment they choose. I know being closer to Manhattan and living in Brooklyn is always the goal but you could've gotten your own place (thats not a walk up) for the price that you're paying. I say for your future moves to different places, try to find people/youtubers who have lived in those cities for majority of their lives and you would probably get a better insight of more affordable areas to live within that city. But again, happy you're here in NY. Live it up girl :)

Such a helpful video!! When I first moved to NYC I used craigslist for finding a sublet (I honestly don't know if I would recommend because it's super hit or miss). After I moved around a few times and was finally ready to sign a full year lease for a place, I found this app called livewith, and I used it find both my current roommate and apartment. I'm pretty sure the app is free, I didn't have to pay any service fees or anything. Hope this helps someone making the big move to nyc!!!

My favourite thing I owned when I moved out was one of those granny shopping trolleys. Literally a life saver for all grocery and general shopping trips. I still take it to the local hardware store to carry plant pots home. Highly recommend getting one!
Also Bumble offers a "Find Friends" feature where the only people on that part of the app are looking for friends! I've used it a couple times and found it really helpful for bigger life changes where meeting new friends isn't always the easiest!

I felt that public transportation makes commuting much easier vs having a car. I was trying to find friends in this way in San Francisco but even in a couple of month of constant attempts I still met no one. Feels like everyone has more important things to do but yet so not plan too long ahead
I moved from NJ to London for about three years and I totally get what youre saying about transport. Simple things like a trip to IKEA were so exhausting just because of the time/effort it took to get home and back

I would recommend not staying in Williamsburg/Bushwick too long, because the L train into Manhattan will be shut down for 15 months, starting next April.

I went to new york once in my life but before i even went i knew i wanted to live there i just always had a feeling that i wanted to live there and when i was going i heard from alot of people that its nothing like what you expect it to be so i didnt get my hopes up but when i got there it was everything I expected it to be I absolutely love EVERYTHING about new york it’s honestly my favourite place on the planet and i know for definite i want to live there but i am only 18 so im going to give it a good few years before I actually start to process to move and also my best friend shes the exact same as me with new york we always talk about living there together so we could get a place together over there

I would recommend not staying in Williamsburg/Bushwick too long, because the L train into Manhattan will be shut down for 15 months, starting next April.
