Thanks! much appreciated. And no plans for a mask/hood design for now - I'm fiddling with latex more as one of my many funky side hobbies - where in this case, it's mostly for fashion or for the sake of experimenting with crafting and materials... hoods seem more of a full on fetish thing, which i dont exatly have a thing for with latex, so it wouldnt be too motivating of a project for me :)
Wow, thank you so much! So precise and comprehensive. I saw a latex kimono and it had this multiple layer effect of a see through latex and each layer (as if it were a stencil) would be darker. I love the look of see through latex and would like to have a backpack made from it, do you think it's possible?
They do sell see-through latex, so just a matter of material, the techniques would be the same. To make it into a backbag, you'd need to chlorinate the final product though, otherwise it's a sticky mess (latex sticks to latex unless it's lubed up with silicone... And that would make anything you put in it greased up with silicone... And dust, hair, etc would stick to it over time if used as an actual bag). Chlorinating changes the behaviour of the surface where it becomes smooth like a fabric instead of being all sticky with high friction.
Thanks ;) and the layered effect can be achieved using layers of translucent latex, kind of the same idea as I'm doing in this video, just probably doing cutting by hand rather than a laser: ua-cam.com/video/xmET_w2kbYI/v-deo.html do more that latex is a really sticky material which would not make for every day item slime backbag unless you chlorinate it (dipping it in a chemical solution which modifies the surface to be smooth rather than sticky)
If you're new to crafting with latex, checkout Latex Crafting 101- A Beginners Guide on Liam Asplen's channel. I've been making latex clothes for 5 years now and learned so much from this one tutorial. Lots of little tips to help master this tricky medium. Liam presents well and has a knack for teaching. Good luck.
Sorry if i am being too much of a pain in the ass ahah but through my reasearch on the pattern making process of latex, i found out that you need to add a negative ease to the pattern because of the stretch thing, right? did you reduced only the horizontal measurments or also the vertical ones? I am thinking, by my calculations, to reduce the horizontal ones by 10% and the vertical ones by 2%...
Great tutorial :) I'm also just starting to work with latex and will probably make these panties soon. Can you give me some tips on how to make my own patterns or how I can adapt the pattern here to certain measurements? What do I have to pay attention to here? As I said, I am still quite new to the subject
Sadly pattern making is a bit beyond my skillset as well, been mostly using existing patterns where the sizes are set... And in case of the panties, i had made one set where when people tried it, i could adjust the new set a bit according to their body (usually a bit shorter crotch area fx)
Hey I love your channel and I started to create my own pattern for a mask and a leggings :) my question is if I need to give the pattern some extra space for the glue edge or if I just glue them together like this so the mask and leggings stretches around my body Please help me :)
Sorry for the late reply, had not noticed the comment. I'm not really great at making patterns from scratch myself, logic wise, it does make sense to add space that matches the width of the glued seam... But it depends on the thickness of the latex, your own body size, etc. Thin stuff does stretch quite a bit, thick stuff less so - fx i used the same pattern for the panties where the red fit perfectly while the thicker pink was a tight squeeze. Also when using patterns meant for normal clothing, i think are guidelines to scale them down a tiny bit to account for the stretch - you'll need to Google for those details though, I'm lacking the knowledge.
Hi, can see you are in Denmark like i am, but do not know if you speak danish, so i do this in english. Is it possible for you to share this pattern? I have just got a starting kit, and i would be happy, if i could try to make them as my first home made latex.
I bought myself a starter kit from RR and due to mailing restrictions there are no thinners included. I have white spirits and methylated spirits available but are they safe to use for cleaning latex?
Methylated spirit is the same as what I use, white spirit is basically turpentine as I understand? Which means you can use it to remove excess glue if you mess up. Otherwise, use the methylated for cleaning before gluing... The other stuff will make the latex smell funny for a while.
ive only tried metal myself - works well i know that plastic / rubber is definitely used as well, while i would assume that imperfections of wood would not be that great in applying even pressure.
You could make the front so it's one continuous piece... i Made the cuts the way they are mainly so it would fit on an A4 sheet ;p latex in general should be a bit more forgiving with the sizing as compared to normal clothing thanks to the amount of stretchiness but with lots of different body types out there, it definitely depends from case to case
Bonjour Je n'utilise pas de réseaux sociaux pour le moment pouvez vous m'indiquer des adresses ou se procurer le latex en gros ainsi que le matériel pour réaliser des vêtements Merci
Thanks ;) A bit hard to say, Its something i threw together based on some fabric patterns (sliced it up so each piece would fit an a4 sheet). for 0.5mm latex, i think it is probably Small or Medium-small. the size of the model was EU: 34 / UK: 8 / US: 4. heres a full body image to give some kind of an idea (a little distorted by the wide-angle lens): drive.google.com/file/d/1gCtF_pBp13Hq52G8rLR-dbJaiO5I0dLq/view?usp=sharing should be possible to just scale it up a bit though or to test it our with some fabric first ;)

Hello Joosep, I loved the video, super explained, know how to inform me a site here in Europe where I can buy latex for confection? Unfortunately I could not here in Portugal. Hugs
Latex is still a very niche product, so not easy to find, unfortunately the main products seem to originate from the UK which is outside EU now - radicalrubber.co.uk/ and www.supatex.com/
Construction shops usually have it. Sell large healing cutting mat from arts and crafts shops can be an option as well.... Should last longer than Plexi
A self healing cutting mat will let the blade last a lot longer and will last a lot longer itself. A metallic gel pen is better than a Sharpie for drawing out the pieces.
yes, there are definitely more simple pattens which one could use but it comes down to stylistic choice and practicality. I for one like the visual look of those extra seams and it allows for multi-color solutions - so sides in one color middle in another fx. Another part was this being a very simple beginner tutorial - so the aim was to be able to print each piece on a standard A4 paper without any extra fiddling to glue together a pattern from multiple sheets. and it's supposed to complement my latex laser cutting tutorial where the cutting area is limited to an A4 size laser cutter. - ua-cam.com/video/xmET_w2kbYI/v-deo.html
Would love to see a tutorial for latex opera gloves !! Or stockings ??

Impossible, you must dip the latex into a mold for such fine details
