      The PNW for the most part doesn’t have guard dogs. Most people don’t even have fenced in yards here so you need not worry. The biggest issue are the people who don’t realize the ground is to hot to walk your dog or don’t get that animals can’t sweat like we do and shouldn’t be playing outside during the day.

      I lived most of my life in the Portland Metro, and the two biggest challenges that make this heat wave worse are:
      1) The Dept of Fish and Wildlife is shutting down hydroelectric dams across the major rivers, only exacerbating the drought conditions while simultaneously crippling the power grid.
      2) Most Northwesterners lose their acclimation to high humidity and high heat once moving there, since most summer days don’t get above 90.

    The heat won’t last forever - this is only temporary. It will soon be an unpleasant memory.
    There are people in Cuba and many Central America countries that have never had any AC. Their temps don’t usually get into the triple digits, but it is very muggy and humid over there. People cool off by going swimming in the rivers, taking cold showers and by using fans - for those lucky enough to even have a fan and electricity to run it.

      That means you are used to and that also means the majority of homes have AC. in the PNW we are not used to many days of triple digit, let alone 112 degree weather. Also, the majority of people don't have AC, because it's rarely needed. Normally get a week of a heat wave in the summer where it's 90+. not much more then that. very different conditions.

    • @Lourdes-A.
      @Lourdes-A. 3 роки тому

      A lot depends where you live in SoCal, Lunar. If you’re lucky to live by the coast and the beaches, it’s pleasantly cool all year round. If you live in the mountains, it’s very cool in the summers - they even get snow in the winter. Even the desert cities get very cold during the winter months. Now, if you live in Indio, Palm Springs, Coachella, Blythe, Palm Desert, Barstow, Baker and any other desert area in So Cal, summers get into the triple digits all the time, but winter nights can get into the 20 s.
      You can easily escape the heat in So Cal by going to the beach or mountains.
