    Hey guys! If you've been watching my channel forever, this video might be totally boring.. For all my new subbies, I wanted to make an updated facial video.. I worked in the skin care industry for a few years during college and so I like to share what I learned on my channel. It's helped me a ton over the years, and I hope it helps you too! I definitely would consider seeing a dermatologist or esthetician if you have any personal skincare concerns. Once you have been given the appropriate regime, you can perform a weekly mini- facial on yourself for skincare maintenance following these steps.. Skincare products can add up quickly. I recommend starting with simple products you are able to comfortably afford and add things like expensive tools etc when you are able. Proper skin maintenance just starts with the basics... Cleansing, Exfoliating Toning, Treating... I have the luxury of trying out a bunch of products as a part of what I do on UA-cam, but its not necessary to use all the expensive products to get results. Do what you can!! Hope you enjoy!
    xo, Rachel

    Sensitive skin, rosacea sufferers, red skin, skin that reacts at all sensitively should stay MILES away from the Clarasonic, physical scrubbing AND the steaming. Active cleansers and chemicals/gentle acids are infinitely better. Be VERY aware of your OWN skins needs.
    Also pores don't open and close. Steamers don't "open" pores. But the steam DOES help loosen and heat the oils and sebum INSIDE your pores making it easier to clean out - hence the pore "appearing" smaller afterwards. Its not closing a pore, it's warming before cleaning it. A Balm massage for a few minutes or a luke warm steam, followed by a mineral clay then a gentle BHA and humectant layer for moisture will reduce the size of your pores and clean them out. But it will require constant maintenance.

      @jenniferannfox2316 9 років тому +7

      +Erin MacPherson I find I use the Clarisonic 2=3 times a week. I've even used it daily and I have sensitive skin. It never has bothered my skin at all. I find it helps serums and moisturizers soak in the skin better afterwards. I've only had mine about 2 years now though. I have never used a steamer on my face.

    • @pattygw
      @pattygw 9 років тому +1

      By chemicals, you mean chemical peels? Because rosacea and sensitive skin are contraindications for chemical peels

    • @froodoftheforest
      @froodoftheforest 9 років тому +9

      Pii Nezka Goodness no. Not chemical peels. I meant gentle acids in cleansers etc

    • @SLPtoMD
      @SLPtoMD 9 років тому +9

      +Pii Nezka depending on if you have acne or oily skin or not it would be either AHA (glycolic acid, lactic acid, etc.) or BHA (salicylic acid) instead of manual exfoliation such as scrubs and buffers and whatnot. Those things can cause micro damage to skin whereas the chemical exfoliants do not :)

    • @pattygw
      @pattygw 9 років тому

      +LaurenAlexandra711 yes I know all that, but I was talking about using chemical peels especially in rosacea, I personally would never use chemical peels if my client had rosacea and I would be careful with sensitive skin and if a person don't know how to use chemical peels she/he can do A LOT of damage to the skin

    Hi Rachel! can you go in depth on the nuface? maybe a review, comparison with other facial tools. I've worked in a salon and seen a woman who was in her mid 30s get a weekly microcurrent and when she had skipped a week she looked really droopy. it made me a little scared of it because I thought, I don't want to become dependant on this. I know that seems weird because serums are almost the same, but if I resurface my skin with a serum and am done with the bottle, I get to keep my skin. what is this microcurrent really about. I'd love to know your mental understanding of it. thank you!

    skin care videos are always awesome, keep em coming. one of my 2016 goals is to take better care of my skin and get facials and visit aesthetician/s. I've never had a facial EVER and that's mainly because looking for the "right" place/person is so scary. I'm scared that they'll mess my face up lol or overly expensive. any tips to what to look for in a skin care place or should I go to a dermatologist first? I don't really have skin issues aside to oily ness and a few breakout.

    Who manufactures the machine you used last with the interchangeable heads? Thank you! 🙏🏻

    Hey girl I'm an esthetician. You should consider using the gentle brush on the clarisonic and DONT brush extra with it because thats called over exfoliation that will cause breakouts, dryness, etc..... The machine is made to do its work when you let it sit on top of your skin :)

    btw a tip for if you steam with a bowl of water: put a decent-sized towel over your head while your head is over the bowl, like if you were trying to hide your head and the bowl
