    Does the Thailand government appreciate people who rescue the abused elephants? It would be a wonderful gesture to the the country and the world if the officials helped to campaign against abuse and educate the community how to treat animals.

    This has got to be the way forward,nobody can say they love elephants if they're considering trekking or watching them perform.Love,freedom & respect is what they deserve,not bull hooks & chains

    The Saddle Off project is just proof that elephant tourism is possible without riding and all that abuse. This couple made the leap to the future with their elephants.

    All these new "saddle-off" camps really need to be supported! Make a point of visiting them.

      Yes, I hope all tourist tracking camps wil turn into sanctuaries or let their elephants go back into the jungle. Maybe the owners can lead tourists to the places where the elephants come and from distance be watched. To see how happy they are set free must be the most beautiful experience for tourists to witness. Thanks to Lek's education this must be possible, to change the way of thinking of the elephant owners. 🌎🌍🌏🤲

      Well, due to the covid-19 situation worldwide, there is nòw the time ànd oportunity to change the whole planet forgood. To make it a better place so man ànd animal can happily and peacefully live next ànd with eachother, I hope and wish that ALL tourist tracking camps and logging industry wil turn into sanctuaries, so that when allowed again tourists can come over and help care for the elephants instead of riding their backs. No more brutal 'breaking the spirit' to force an elephant work for humans, no, humans serving thèm. Let's do this, let's change our planet to the most beautuful blue gem in the universe.

    You need to give instructions how to visit your place. I will go visit Thailand to see the elephants as they are always in my heart. I was thinking Nature Park, but this is small family and I would support small family also. This woman has a baby herself. What if someone took her baby for riding, circus, zoos, and for labor? I don't know how these animals become someone's property. They were born free and never belonged to anyone.

    These Elephants should be at Elephant Nature Park, which is IN THAILAND. This park is set up to care for Elephants including Medical care, with proper meals with and Ope space to roam in the jungle. It also has a river going through the park.

    Animals have lived in the world on there own for a long time, but if you put humans in the mix they think they know what is best, when they don't.

    I loved this with one exception. I think it was unwise and unfortunate that you chose to give the obviously well-intentioned woman from the Netherlands a platform from which to preach and pontificate. The attitude coming from the Argentinian woman and the elephant owners was a comfort and relief ~ no proselytizing!!! 👍🌟❤️

    Until the stupid tourists stop using the elephants for joy rides then here in Thailand and many SE Asian countries the elephant will continue to be abused. We have to educate these people, stop doing it folks the elephant isn't there for your enjoyment.

    The purpose of the zoo was to save extinct animals and breed them. They do good too

    • @Automedon2
      @Automedon2 5 років тому +2

      Zoo breeding does nothing for wild populations. The inhabitants of zoos are just specimens with none of the soul or instincts of real animals. Despite what they want to tell you, they are just modern versions of menageries, where animals are surrounded by loud, gawking customers all day with no chance for the secrecy or privacy that wild animals require.

      Stacy our zoo is very well run however the poor elephant was alone for many years. Elephants do not need to be in zoos

      Most zoos keep the animals all alone in terrible sites and conditions. I'll never forget the wolf I saw in Sao Paulo zoo. It was miserable, broken, neurotic. It was traumatizing for me.

    The elephant that stole the food that's bad behavior. It can make the elephants aggressive if you don't have food on time.

    I don't quite understand the argument being portrayed by the women being interviewed in this video. I do understand that in many, many cases elephants have been abused. But, does this mean that we can't use them for anything at all? Why isn't the same argument applied to all animals such as horses or cows or donkey's?

    • @pongo55555
      @pongo55555 9 років тому +4

      +Hopeful Elephant I think the same argument IS so often applied to all of these other animals placed in service to humans, with no ability to decide for themselves and no chance to pick a more or less compassionate "owner." Elephants seem more painful in some ways because the live to be so old, and they connect to and suffer emotionally for their family relationships much as humans do. However, I think there are people working to change the world for all the animals suffering as used beings for people. Why SHOULD we use elephants for anything at all?? Once you truly know any particular animal's true nature and connection to itself, it is unlikely you could bring yourself to "use" it any longer.

      People are working to save other animals too
      For example search for" make it possible" a big campaign from Animal Australia ,and listen to this speech;

      It is simple. The animals in the world do not belong to humans. They exist for their own purposes and reasons just like us. I do not want to slave for anyone or lost my baby to someone for slavery. Why would I do that to someone else? Do onto others as you would done onto you.

      I have horses and dogs. My horses get 1 hour of riding and its the kind of riding they each enjoy. I have one horse who loves to just be lazy so I ride chill trips out in nature on him and my other horse loves show jumping so thats what we do. I don't use my horses forcefully and yell and kick and exploit them for 12 hour a day or make money on having tourist ride them in the heat without drink or food or anything. Also, elephants are not domesticated. Horses are. Its no longer evolutionary contradictory for horses to be handled by people. Todays horses would never make it if freed to the wild because they no longer have fully developed instincts of how to find the best grassing and shelter for weather and water. Even horses that are not handled until they're introduced to riding or other use, will know always to come down to their farm stable for feed and water, no matter how huge their grass fields are.
