I purchased this phone new from an individual on ebay... On Christmas Eve it bricked after a night on the charger... I can't get it to stop rebooting... I sent it to RIM last month... I haven't hear a thing from them...
The 9900 is for GSM providers( AT&T, T-Mobile) and the 9930 is for CDMA carriers( Sprint, Verizon) so the only difference is that they use a different technology but the phone have the same design and everything else just use different technology
should i get it or iphone 4s? help me!!!i m a big fan of bb but afaid i might regreat!im not app's gal so i donthink i will do sth much about phone!any problem with bb this model?
Nice review but struggled to understand what you were saying sometimes - for example, the signal strength discussion is muddled at first - slow down a little!
@tyleriiiiiiiklm a thumb up wasn't enough to express how much i agree with you comment, the bb is a phone hat tackles the basic needs of the users in the most direct and successful way possible.
i am about to order this phone from amazon and i have been checking loads of reviews and customer satisfaction rates before i do. i really like this. if anyone who already owns the phone thinks there is a reason i should not buy this or go with the 9900 over it i would appreciate it very much if you can message me. thanks, its really important to me
Can upload a video filmed in HD in a Party ??? Because THERE is when i can say "YES! This is GREAT!". I have the Torch 1 and when i download the video in my PC don't sound cool ... the bass f*** the speakers ...
@KJO2591 Understood. I was typing on glass and as a Blackberry user was typing in short without my normal keyboard. No hard feelings intended. Either way this really is a Blackberry done right and for any hardcore user like myself I'm looking foreward to get this phone on Sprint as my upgrade. Will it attract non-Blackberry users, not many. But for me it will be a much appreciated upgrade and I'm very excited.
Even though I really disagree with their choice to use the old blackberry OS instead of QNX, they did a pretty good job with the touch screen and the speed. It is definitely what blackberry users are looking for. I will stick to my android though :)
I can't imagine buying this without autofocus. Coming from a Palm Pre Plus, autofocus is simply brilliant once you see it. I hate my Palm to no end for not including it.
@KJO2591 Well, as a Sprint customer, I'm well aware. Sorry I guess I came off a little rude there. Hey look on the bright side, so did you this time around. Even now?
...My good friend has one ...it just recently started Crashing everyday... ..Has to reboot it all the time...its not the carrrier...its the phone ...etc...
@eminiscool123 Yeah it does, take another look at the video to a point where he is showing the above, there is a little button inside for that function.
I have this phone. Although it is gorgeous, there are just too many software/hardware issues that RIM refuses to address with grace and urgency. The touch display goes black and even a hard reset won't always solve the problem and lines go through the display when used frequently. It suffers greatly with productivity. Such a pretty phone, great to use as a brick. Definitely not a reliable company phone. It's a shame RIM produced such a beautiful phone with bugs that make it virtually unusable.
The 9900 is for GSM carriers and the 9930 is for CDMA. There's no difference in the phones, just the antenna they use. ie: 9900 is ATT, 9930 is Verizon.
@najibnk RIM was first to use the style! the first BOLD had the stainless steel STYLE. besides thats not a legit reason to sue, thats like suing cause it has a touch screen, the stainless steal is NOT trade marked
9900 is the same as 9930 9930 does not have sim card slot 9900 does for atnt and t mobile cards 9930 are for sprint verizon which do not have sim cards
i had enough with the blackberry all they do is make a faster phones without even care about its ecosystem, switched to iPhone 4S and my life is much more happier
@najibnk Apple sues for everything, even if it wasn't their idea. They'll probably sue Android from the drop down notification bar, even though it was Androids first.
Was using iPhone 4, just ordered my Bold 9900 today and I'm sure I won't regret it! :) GO FOR IT!
Excellent Review! I love the energy you put into it. Was looking for a Blackberry and you've just convinced me to grab one! Great Stuff!!!
Finally somebody that can make an actual review of the phone and not showing the outside of it and explaining unimportant stuff.
Me too! Im gonna get mine in January! where did u order yours from? I'm switching service providers to verizon also.
CANT WAIT TO GET THIS
That blue gameboy is cool
thanks very much for the response, i'm really excited about this phone!!!
New Bold looks great, love the speed, touchscreen etc., but I"ve heard the battery life is very short. Is it true?
Phonearena, please do a review on the blackberry curve 9320. Thx.

So this is BlackBerry's last BB OS device, what happens in a years time? Will i still have support if i buy this phone?
It does. One lock/unlock button in the top middle and no mute button.
Yes it does have a mute button, its in between the volume up/down like an iPhone

9930 has 3G connectivity while the 9900 has 3G and 4G, as it is £200 more (in the UK)
Can someone tell me what the difference is between 9930 and 9900?
what change the bold 9930 and 9900
Nice review but struggled to understand what you were saying sometimes - for example, the signal strength discussion is muddled at first - slow down a little!
It does look very classy. My sister has it and she has her issues with it, but it's far better-looking than the iPhone 5, which is too narrow.
@tyleriiiiiiiklm a thumb up wasn't enough to express how much i agree with you comment, the bb is a phone hat tackles the basic needs of the users in the most direct and successful way possible.
Wait.. Asking a virtual keyboard on a phone with a physical keyboard for primary use is just outlandish..
@HiScoreKing 9900 is GSM, 9930 is CDMA. Same phone, different networks.
i am about to order this phone from amazon and i have been checking loads of reviews and customer satisfaction rates before i do. i really like this. if anyone who already owns the phone thinks there is a reason i should not buy this or go with the 9900 over it i would appreciate it very much if you can message me. thanks, its really important to me
blackberry cruve 3g keyboard is better or bb 9930
how's you BB now? just askin
@HiScoreKing 9900 is the GSM device 9930 is the CDMA (No sim) device. Same phone different numbers :)
Can this blackberry type access the whatsapp call feature?
Can upload a video filmed in HD in a Party ??? Because THERE is when i can say "YES! This is GREAT!". I have the Torch 1 and when i download the video in my PC don't sound cool ... the bass f*** the speakers ...

@KJO2591

Thumbs Up For The GameBoy =D
I can't imagine buying this without autofocus.

I wonder how BlackBerry is still in business.
@KJO2591
Well, as a Sprint customer, I'm well aware. Sorry I guess I came off a little rude there. Hey look on the bright side, so did you this time around. Even now?
I wish a Blackberry :'(
@n00basauruz so you are saying that the first viewer of this video sees "0 view"? rly?
yea i agree with you.. i own samsung xcover now and it's way more exciting than dull blackberry..
@soshifiedsica not necessarily, its good for one handed use.
@DextahGaming Don't think so. Get the QNX Coming out next year.
...My good friend has one ...it just recently started Crashing everyday...
..Has to reboot it all the time...its not the carrrier...its the phone ...etc...
@eminiscool123 Yeah it does, take another look at the video to a point where he is showing the above, there is a little button inside for that function.
@Antijustinbieber1122 9900 is a GSM model and 9930 is a CDMA model. don't ask me what they are coz i actually don't know :)
@TheEpicTechnology 9930 is CDMA only
its only 3G but its so beautiful... I want one! 😠😠😠
@SuperBeastinitup Yes,It Does... There are Torch Series nn De BB Bold 9900 nn Also The Curve But I forgot de Number..!!
@Twinkie2526 Im talking about the more recent phones too, so now who is the bigger #Tard?
The tiny screen is too small to use
you can do facetime

@PSamra89 hows that possible
Awesome phone.
I am enjoying.
The 9900 is for GSM carriers and the 9930 is for CDMA. There's no difference in the phones, just the antenna they use. ie: 9900 is ATT, 9930 is Verizon.
@Twinkie2526 No. Not every phone shows the time and date on the screen. #Wrong
@LordStarscream6 This version is CDMA only.
Thinking about coming to this from a buggy as hell Razzr.
The 990 is for HSPA+ and GSM networks. There is no other hardware difference.
Currently using an HTC One S- pretty good I have to say :)
haha gettin this on next christmas
THIS GUY AND HIS LINKIN PARK!
@Josvdb89 I think you'd be better off with Android and iOS. BB's aren't for apps, they're for being a phone.
@XxZdarkyZxX aww, really can't wait until next year. Need a new device by November this year.
@najibnk RIM was first to use the style! the first BOLD had the stainless steel STYLE. besides thats not a legit reason to sue, thats like suing cause it has a touch screen, the stainless steal is NOT trade marked
9900 is the same as 9930 9930 does not have sim card slot 9900 does for atnt and t mobile cards 9930 are for sprint verizon which do not have sim cards
i so like it
The Blackberry Torches doo! They have bigger screens also.
everyone stop asking is this different than the 9900 there is no difference except the 9930 is for Verizon that is it, DAMN..
i got iphone, i pod touch think i'll b moving on blackberry!!
@eminiscool123 Yes there is a single lock button on the top. (middle).
@loopmix69 Apple may sue because it shows the time and date on the screen
What happened to the Russian dude?
@justMusicandShit he means if you buy it from verizon (meaning you with a contract)
Apple will probably sue the man who took a bite of their logo :D
why i buy 9300 :(
i had enough with the blackberry all they do is make a faster phones without even care about its ecosystem, switched to iPhone 4S and my life is much more happier
@najibnk That'd be like suing someone for using the same plastic as you...
@Twinkie2526 How many phones have you seen? Have you seen them ALL? #JerkWally
@619vivaMexicanos and what is that? the email is better on the BB and it has the best keyboard ever put on a phone
and BBM of course
its on the right side now i think
Considering buying a Blackberry coming from an iPhone... Hmm...
$250?????
In Holland it's over €500,-
Yes, that one, Torch & Storm 1 & 2
i think apple may sue rim
because of the stainless steel
Not bad from RIM!
looks good
@najibnk Apple sues for everything, even if it wasn't their idea. They'll probably sue Android from the drop down notification bar, even though it was Androids first.
