this was and still IS my favorite phone i ever had. It was simply perfect. they should produce such a compact phone today with a physical keyboard
10 years later it's still my favourite phone.
I miss this phone. The screen was too small for my eyes otherwise I'd still be using it. The Sony UI is fantastic and the customization worked completely for me. Wish there were more physical keyboard phones around other than Blackberry.
I also have fond memories of this device; when bigger wasn't better...
I was just thinking about this one. I wish I could have that UI back again.
It was my first smartphone, I sold it years ago and now I miss it hahaha. Wish I still had it just for nostalgia.
I just bought a Samsung Flip 4 just to fill the void left by the Mini Pro. Watching this video made me realize that no, it's not the same. It was the absolute perfect phone. I miss you bud.

this was first smartphone , i loved this phone , i miss is and its blocky small size. i used it from 2011 to late 2014, when i got the xperia z3 compact , the call of a 4g phone was to great . left the xperia range in 2018 after the replacement screen quote was more than buying a used device and it was having battery issues, moved to an honor 9 . still miss this phone i used to carry 2 battery around and swap during day
Great review. Just stopped using this phone after 7 months and while I don't miss it..I thoroughly enjoyed using it.

Have used it more then 9 months, very satisfied. Streaming video more faster then my pc.

It's common for this phone to have electrostatic kind of noise coming out of it. It is noticeable when you hold the phone close to you in a silence environment, and that is a little annoyance. Also, it has way to little RAM so when you are browsing the web, and switch to an other app (like WhatsApp for example) the browser crashes to make more room in the RAM. Also, the screen has a very low resolution and that can be annoying when looking at videos or looking at text.
the static noise issue was fixed in the next lot of manufacturing, it was a hardware issue and I recall Sony swapping my device for a new one which did not have this issue.

I used to have this phone..changed to nexus s...I really miss this phone. Finally I bought back this phone...small but that's all what I need.
I liked the last line, " It's a dream come true for those users that are into compact handsets".
God i miss this phone a lot, wish Sony made again a flagship phone with small form factor and physical keyboard, even just a bit overpriced to produce it per-customer order.
I think that with nowadays industry production standards it would be fairly easy to make it again full of nice specs, including:
Thin bezels IPS screen with decent resolution, a 3.5mm jack paired with a nice DAC (Think incredibly small devices like Shangling, Fiio, Hidizs...), backlit physical keyboard, Snapragon 855 or better, nice microphone call quality, a decent no-bump camera that supports 4k and HDR (think newest GoPros...), usb-c connector with usb 3.1 gen1 at least and DisplayPort/Hdmi support...
Pretty sure that some people would pay well to have such a little beast of a device, now that use USB-C and software solutions like Samsung Dex to replace basic laptop use cases.
The future of the smartphone market is about smaller devices that can do more things better, not the other way around.

Thanks again for the excelent review. I bought it two weeks ago and I'm perplexed on how good this phone is. The android OS is really something. But the overall quality is what impresses me the most. Fortunately, I was able to buy it for only 100 Euros (points discount) which made me a whole lot happier. ^^

i was between xperia mini pro and htc wildfire but after cheking both phone's features i decided that this is much better!

the camera quality is good..... it is perhaps better than most of 5mp phone out there
@GeoOwen the white one not comes with matte finish. but the finger prints are not visible because of its colour. Plus they provide one more cover with another colour. so you can change it as you like. mine is a black one . i got it 10 days ago. no problem yet. good luck

the new and upgraded version are called Xperia mini pro. (no x10)

very good presentation,
it's a pity that the camera although the 5mp and the 720p video resolution still looks quiet poor. Close-up images are brilliant but background is quiet bad for that specs.
Very good smart-phone though considering it's size and the price.

I got this phone yesterday, and rate it highly! The keyboard is the best I have come across on an android. I tried out the HTC Desire z, but the keys are not raised enough and remind me of the cheap buttons you get on a microwave panel. The Mini Pro's buttons click satisfyingly as you type, and it is comfortable to hold.
One thing though - and wonder if anyone can help me - I can't work out how to disable auto-capitalization in messages. Help appreciated.

the mini pro will have google play ics or gingerbread. Some people have some problems with ics (not me) but there are not much features ics has over gingerbread. You will get face unlock, notification swiping, and that's about it.

Ive heard that the previous version of this xperia mini pro had problems with battery which only lasts for like up to 4 to 6hrs If you are listen to music with it

Could you tell me how is the battery? Is it working now longer than in last model? Because i have first model, and even with battery saver app it's working atleast one day ( one and a half if you are not using it at all). By the way is it posible to zoom in and zoom out with new camera inside new model? And how is memeori- because in last model i couldn't download applications as many as i wanth to. Is it posible to instal app data to sd card now?

@catznose The X10 does not update to the latest android firmware; it is stuck on 2.1 or 2.2 I think. Another thing is that it has a slower processor, and the design is different with its different button arrangement.

@cohord1 lol this is not the mini version of x10. x10's mini version was x10 mini pro. this is the mini version of xperia pro, which is yet to be released
I will get mine in few days:) Still hope the camera is better than he described it here, cuz I got 2007 year Nokia N95 which makes super pictures with it's 5MP cam. Unfortunately it is soooo old and slow. Waiting for my Mini Pro:)
By the way, I recommend the black one. I have a white one, but I think the black one looks cooler..

Those bastards! all those software animation features and xloud are friggin awesome, was thinking of switching to HTC but this just looks so dang smooth, and the zoom+ pan function is unique. the've won me back over :P
well ray of course, because of the camera and its newer so it has better features, but the design and no keyboard is a minus to me. so if u prefer texting and having a decent compact phone, take the mini pro, if u are like taking photos and playing games and stuff, take ray.

Got this phone for one year now. Love compact phones so I can have them on my trousers pocket with no problem. QWERTY is awesome and very fast. There is a problem with internal memory wich is clearly unsufficient. Also I can not manage BT system to memorize the password of my car, so I have to type it each time I get into my car / start the engine.
