Fun fact, in the mythos, Nyx isn't a Goddess, she's a Protogenos, which roughly translates to First One. She and Erebus, her husband, as well as the other Protogenoi were directly spawned by Khaos/Chaos, who effectively IS the Universe.
@@shadowldrago Primordials are extremely powerful, Zeus will be right to fear any of the primordials, but by his time most primordials are dead or sleeping, Nyx was the most active one, and she was no related to him, so no special treatment, if Zeus fight Nyx, she will beat his ass. also she has a lot of powerful children, so yeah, nobody want to get on the bad side of Nyx.

You know, lore wise, she is normally depicted as evil or monstrous, but, the gods messed up her life, so when I see her looking like a normal girl with snake hair, I just am happy for her.
Depends on which version they'll choose for Medusa. If they go for Ovid then yes she probably hates most of her classmates, if they go by the Hellenic tradition then she'll be born the way she is, with the serpentine features.
I mean.. lore wise, she should be absolutely livid being around a particular brother of 3. Who ruined her life as a chaste priestess. Against her will and all...

i dont thing so, because Nyx and Hypnos dont have a bad relationship in myth, Nyx save Hypnos from Zeus in myth, she really loves him, and based in this scene both Hypnos and Eris are not afraid of Nyx. they are afraid of the guests, and Nyx probable send all her children to sleep to kepp them safe.

Oh my lord, Hypnos is just the sweetest boy! He tries so hard to please his mother and even tries to protect Eris. It was such an interesting look into Nyx as well! I always look forward to watch the videos from this channel! Great work to everyone on the team!
@@kylielively I was making a sarcastic joke earlier, but technically, a majority of Nyx's children were born just through Nyx alone (no father), according to the Hesoid. Erebus is only the father to Aether and Hemera. So Nyx had a bunch of kids outside of Erebus, but asexually.
This reminds me of a classic 2D Disney film ! The characters are vibrant and beautiful, Nyx is so condescending and intimidating, and the insight into Eris' homelife is so interesting. I can't wait to see more!!

@@jackphillips3354 I disagree. There is graduation into being a bad mother. She could have lashed against her daughter and physically beaten her for not being in her room. This hint to the fact that she may improve and try to be a better mom.
Nyx is not exacly a bad mother, how can i explain, Nyx has a big number of children, like thousands of children, so is hard for Nyx to give each of her children a lot of attettion, but she care, and she is protective, in myth there one time that Zeus gets very very angry with Hypnos, so he try to punish Hypnos, but Nyx come and save Hypnos, she protect her son and basically make Zeus shit himself. So while Nyx is not the more attentive mother in greeck myth, she is 100% a very protective one, if her children call for her, she will be there, and she will face even the king of the gods for her childrens

My Mother was all loving and affectionate at one moment, and on the other she was trying to rip my face off and screaming at me, saying I was mean, and hateful, and selfish, and going to go to Hell. Maybe Nyx does care about her children. My mother loved and cared about me, but there are no gray areas. Especially, when it comes to parenthood! Hurting your children in anyway, at any time, for any reason, and you’re by definition a bad parent.
Nyx wasn’t evil, she was just the most profound personification of night and darkness. Doesn’t lend itself to cheer, but it doesn’t have to mean malevolence.
Amazing animation. Nyx was never evil she was a well respected goddess of the highest rank. Even Zeus feared her wrath. She was one of the most powerfull gods ever in Greek mythology and the secound daughter of chaos.
I love this woman. Zeus feared her, she took Cronos’ immortality, she is extremely powerful and very beautiful! Eris imitating her 🥺💜✨ She protected Eris, that wrath only a mother has. I don’t know if this story is true, but it seems that one of Nyx’s children put Zeus to sleep so Hera could kill Hercules. Zeus woke up in time and went after Nyx’s child, then he felt her wrath for going after one of her children. I believe in Nyx’s supremacy 🛐🖤✨
Oh yeah! Basically her kid came running and Zeus ran with his tail between his legs when she showed up. The kid was allowed to live because she was that ducking scary.
I just finished all of your videos and I have to say, it is a crime that this hasn't been picked up by a network. The art style and the story telling is gorgeous 😍
Nyx has always been a more nuanced figure in Greek mythology. In this version, I can see her being capable of love and comfort and causing fear and terror.
I adore this series, I keep rewatching my favourite episodes -- and this one is now definitely among them! I love that Hypnos is kind of a mama's boy here. It feels true to the actual Greek mythology when he went to his mother to escape Zeus's wrath. You can see here that he is just a little afraid of her, but also trusting, especially as he calls out to Nyx to keep Eris from harm.
This episode sparks lots of questions about the story. When Nyx asks Hypnos about a child and Hypnos says he’s in a cave with a goat and was given a gift, and while she did her spell she said words identical to what I heard in the third episode while it looked like she was talking to Eris. Is the boy she referring to Paris? Was she talking to Eris in episode three or was it Paris? Is she planning on using Paris to start something chaotic, like Eris did in original Greek mythology? Why are these new episodes all shorter than the first 4?
I think they’re shorter bc it’s all made by one person! He does all of the animating, but wanted more videos to come out more frequently, so they’re not as long.
@@TJ-di2cx Initially, I thought the boy to be Paris (because according to the mythos, he was left in a cave to die as well in his infanthood...yep, that's ancient Greece for you), but it was a she-bear who nursed him, not a goat. So, it's possible that Nyx was referring to Zeus too, and she was observing him from afar in Episode 3...also, Kronos is still a thing here, which may imply that Nyx plans to use Zeus against Kronos for some reason. UPD: I think that the gift has to be the golden apple. In the myth, it was Zeus who was supposed to give it to the most beautiful goddess, but Zeus decided he didn't want to deal with that mess, so he pushed the responsibility onto Paris.
They're referring to Apollo, God of the Sun. In Greek Mythology he was born in a cave with his mother and a goat. The gift was a lyre, also making him a God of music.
Awww little Eris is so adorable, she melted my heart. This is the first time I see an interaction with Eris and Nyx, it has a lot of details to take in, and a deeper connection with Erises background. It surprised me, truly. This animation is a masterpiece! I really enjoy Medusa and Erises connection too, I always wanted to see them talk and all and God's school made my wish came true.
Oh wow this was incredible. I love Nyx's voice so much. So powerful like the older animated queens I've seen. The effects were gorgeous and I absolutely love the subtle animations at the end with Eris waking up and pondering her nightmare. ❤❤❤❤❤
Nyx reminds me of Maleficent a bit. Seeing her and young Eris telling her backstory, makes this a great episode. Not to mention, the Erinyes gives off some wild Demenator vibes. In a good way. Also, Hypnos is now become my favorite character due to his cuteness and polite demeanor.

Everything is better than expected, every video exceeds my expectations, the beautiful character designs, the incredible references and the suspenseful ending with many more doubts and mysteries, I LOVE IT!

The way I ate for this to be my new ever after high the more I watch the series the more I want dolls and I just LOVE the story telling and voice acting, it’s better than most media these days
Oh nice, I was always interested in seeing nyx and hypnos since they are basically not shown in series or movies. Hypnos while seeming desperate for his mother affection he seems caring. Hope we see more of him in the future
Gotta say, really impressed with the lighting (or the ironic lack thereof) when you show the silouettes of the Erinyes. Geez Nyx gives of Mother Gothel vibes. Looks like Hypnos is the "Golden Child"(?), but he's not blind to his mother's less than pleasant nature(?) I got "Double double toil and trouble" vibes when she started her spell. And that spell gave me shivers up my spine. The parts that Eris was repeating....foreshadowing I wonder if Eris knows that her mom was in protective mode at the end of her dream/memory.
It's nice to see we're coming back to Eris. That part with her looking around her room with her heart pounding, but then she (and by extension us the audience) sees her friend sleeping peacefully next to her, and now the music has changed and we no longer hear the heart beats, brings a smile to my face. :) (*) Very well orchestrated and choreographed moment right there, in all departments. ^^ (*) Eris smiles too, which makes this one of those moments, to me at least, where the protagonist and the audience are in the journey together, both discovering and reacting to things at the same time.
Fantastic job. I love the art style- so sleek and flowing. You strike a great balance between the "playing with modern school tropes" and ancient lore. I LOVE Eris.

I'm half greek and in ma childhood that giant book of ancient Greek myths was my biggest love despite all the adult themes hah) I'm in love with this show, I know it's not origin accurate of course but the animation is Disney Renaissance quality it brings me so much love and joy from my childhood and I like the stories, the characters, everything's just perfect! Also I have some ever after high vibes and that was a beautiful project. It's such a shame Mattel's just cut all the joy suddenly. yeah, she is a primordial, just like Gaea and Ouranos, she is way older and powerful than a normal god like Zeus.

Personally, I think some ancient Greek philosophers had deep discussions about what came first, Chaos or Night and after that have some deep s*x.
Greek Gods aren't evil in general. They're just not humans. The problem comes with people putting the olympians to human standards

Amazing animation. Nyx was never evil she was a well respected goddess of the highest rank. Even Zeus feared her wrath. She was one of the most powerfull gods ever in Greek mythology and the secound daughter of chaos.
I love this woman. Zeus feared her, she took Cronos’ immortality, she is extremely powerful and very beautiful!

I don’t know if this story is true, but it seems that one of Nyx’s children put Zeus to sleep so Hera could kill Hercules. Zeus woke up in time and went after Nyx’s child, then he felt her wrath for going after one of her children.

Oh yeah! Basically her kid came running and Zeus ran with his tail between his legs when she showed up. The kid was allowed to live because she was that ducking scary.

Nyx has always been a more nuanced figure in Greek mythology. In this version, I can see her being capable of love and comfort and causing fear and terror.
I adore this series, I keep rewatching my favourite episodes -- and this one is now definitely among them! I love that Hypnos is kind of a mama's boy here. It feels true to the actual Greek mythology when he went to his mother to escape Zeus's wrath. You can see here that he is just a little afraid of her, but also trusting, especially as he calls out to Nyx to keep Eris from harm.

This episode sparks lots of questions about the story. When Nyx asks Hypnos about a child and Hypnos says he’s in a cave with a goat and was given a gift, and while she did her spell she said words identical to what I heard in the third episode while it looked like she was talking to Eris. Is the boy she referring to Paris? Was she talking to Eris in episode three or was it Paris? Is she planning on using Paris to start something chaotic, like Eris did in original Greek mythology?
Why are these new episodes all shorter than the first 4?
Given that this is a memory, and the child being referred to is in a cave with a goat, I believe it's the infant Zeus.
I think they’re shorter bc it’s all made by one person! He does all of the animating, but wanted more videos to come out more frequently, so they’re not as long.
Nah i think she's talking about the prophesy that eris will be the one causing chaos on the trojans along with paris.
@@TJ-di2cx Initially, I thought the boy to be Paris (because according to the mythos, he was left in a cave to die as well in his infanthood...yep, that's ancient Greece for you), but it was a she-bear who nursed him, not a goat. So, it's possible that Nyx was referring to Zeus too, and she was observing him from afar in Episode 3...also, Kronos is still a thing here, which may imply that Nyx plans to use Zeus against Kronos for some reason.
UPD: I think that the gift has to be the golden apple. In the myth, it was Zeus who was supposed to give it to the most beautiful goddess, but Zeus decided he didn't want to deal with that mess, so he pushed the responsibility onto Paris.
They're referring to Apollo, God of the Sun. In Greek Mythology he was born in a cave with his mother and a goat. The gift was a lyre, also making him a God of music.
Awww little Eris is so adorable, she melted my heart. This is the first time I see an interaction with Eris and Nyx, it has a lot of details to take in, and a deeper connection with Erises background. It surprised me, truly. This animation is a masterpiece!
I really enjoy Medusa and Erises connection too, I always wanted to see them talk and all and God's school made my wish came true.
Oh wow this was incredible. I love Nyx's voice so much. So powerful like the older animated queens I've seen. The effects were gorgeous and I absolutely love the subtle animations at the end with Eris waking up and pondering her nightmare. ❤❤❤❤❤

Nyx reminds me of Maleficent a bit. Seeing her and young Eris telling her backstory, makes this a great episode. Not to mention, the Erinyes gives off some wild Demenator vibes. In a good way. Also, Hypnos is now become my favorite character due to his cuteness and polite demeanor.

It's nice to see we're coming back to Eris. That part with her looking around her room with her heart pounding, but then she (and by extension us the audience) sees her friend sleeping peacefully next to her, and now the music has changed and we no longer hear the heart beats, brings a smile to my face. :) (*) Very well orchestrated and choreographed moment right there, in all departments. ^^
(*) Eris smiles too, which makes this one of those moments, to me at least, where the protagonist and the audience are in the journey together, both discovering and reacting to things at the same time.
Fantastic job. I love the art style- so sleek and flowing. You strike a great balance between the "playing with modern school tropes" and ancient lore. I LOVE Eris.

I'm half greek and in ma childhood that giant book of ancient Greek myths was my biggest love despite all the adult themes hah) I'm in love with this show, I know it's not origin accurate of course but the animation is Disney Renaissance quality it brings me so much love and joy from my childhood and I like the stories, the characters, everything's just perfect! Also I have some ever after high vibes and that was a beautiful project. It's such a shame Mattel's just cut all the joy suddenly.
