@@Elvis_47 I know, it makes no sense really, but it is tradition in NRK, the national broadcasting that the sketch runs as a regular spot on the program "Kvelden før kvelden". Norwegians usually watch that show in the background as we decorate for Christmas and make the last preparations before Christmas Eve. :) I usually spent New Years eve with my grandmother, and there we watched the sketch on Swedish TV. :)
A close relative being an actor told that Fred Frinton had the reputation of being great at playing drunk rolls. I can only agree. Freds last line tops the sketch.....
In Norway it is always aired the 23/12 for some reason. It has been like this for over 40 years or so. It should have aired on New Years Eve as well, but people would go mad if NRK had changed when it is aired 😄
But we watch it in black and white. This is the first time in coluor for me 😊. Therese are more versions of it whit small diffrences. I realize I have seen two. So I'm on third now.
Thank you for the colorized version. Is it possible to maybe add one day subtitles to it as it would help to follow the dialog, at least for new people as Ia m sure the traditionalists know the lines. :)
For 25 years I watched Freddie and Ms May on tv every new years eve and that more than once."sit down mam, I'll give you a hand up. I'll kill that cat"
The original black and white film had at least 10 times better resolution. This is a colourised version of a cheap low-resolution copy of the original. It would be wonderful if it was not so BLURRY. (Probably copied from a 2010 UA-cam 240p copy) The original film was Pin-Sharp.....please colourize the original.
Well, I gave it a fair shot. This served as a fine old soporific. Not sure that's what it was meant as, but at the end of it I was just as glad to go to bed as they were.
Well, you had to be there. Sufficient to say I was a guest of Lady Throckbottom that Christmas. And yes, drunken Freddie tried break into my room later that night. I hit him over the head with my chamber-pot! And it was (ugh!) FULL.
Currently watching this on New Year's Eve 2023-2024; Same Procedure as every year.
In Sweden, we watch this on New years eve every year. So funny.
In South Africa too !
In Norway we watch it the eve before Christmas. We celebrate Christmas Eve the 24th. :)
@@GlennRobert71 My father is from Norway !
Why the night before Christmas? The sketch is about new year?

This is wonderful in colors and in b&w. Master piece of comedy and theatre.
I'm 36 now and we used to watch this every New Year from when I was 5 years old on a small black and white TV 📺 😂😂😂
My New Year is complete!!! Thank you for this upload. Been watching every year since 1995. 😂😂😂😂👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Me too !
This never gets old! Same procedure as every year.
I love this sketch.
It totally cracks me up.
Thank you, Every New Years Eve this played, party never started till afterwards.

Absolutely fabulous. They do not make them like they used to.!!
Can't have an Old Years Eve without watching this!

They were real good actors, considering most of, if not the whole sketch is improvised
it's not improvised. But they are heavy variations everytime they performed it.
Happy 2024, everyone!
Same procedure as last year!
Fantastic.
So, so, funny.
😂❤️👌🏼
And I thought only Germans watched this every year. The Dutch don't.
I prefer without colour
I request the CC/Captioning/Untertitle be enabled on this funny video. I really would like to know what they are saying !
For 25 years I watched Freddie and Ms May on tv every new years eve and that more than once."sit down mam, I'll give you a hand up. I'll kill that cat"
I love and enjoyed this movie clip for many years
the same procedure as last year, thats why he must drink all the drinks...
Meanwhile in America we watch the most wholesome of Christmas movies
Die Hard.
Me parto!, jajajajajaja....
Unfortunately, the sound is hopeless. The black version is perfect
They should re-do this with Ian Mc Diarmid as the butler!
I will never understand, why the butler wore no white gloves?
Connect the TV to the computer
They don't make actors and actresses like that no more... That's when we could larf at ourselves.... Hahaa... Wot a larf it was... Hehee...
Смешно и грустно.
Why do people watch it on New Year’s Eve?
There are better versions that aren't a camera pointed at a monitor.

I think he is Mr Bean's father or 9ne of the relative😂😂😂😂😂
Seeing this in color feels so wrong
and upstairs they simulated a gamdbang.
Beautiful colors, completely worthless because the audio is nonsense.
You must be drunk! Not a bloody thing wrong with the sound! Skol!!!
Why did they scrap it. Ignorance is bless.
Sorry ment bliss.
👍🙏🤍💙. 🇫🇮
And some think Germans have no sense of humour.
Yes, but for God's sake don't mention the war!
So much coughing in the foreground unfortunately makes it hard to watch
Well, I gave it a fair shot. This served as a fine old soporific. Not sure that's what it was meant as, but at the end of it I was just as glad to go to bed as they were.
No, no, no!!! This is blasfemy. ONLY on New Years Eve (in Denmark).
Also in Finland
Also in Sweden.
Terrible sound quality
I just dont get what is funny about this sketch. My bad.
Just like that, some people have humor, others dont....
Only grownups understand
Back then, it was considered funny & it was just for the pure of enjoyment, you have to remember this heired in the early 1960s.
Well,you had to be there.
Sufficient to say I was a guest of Lady Throckbottom that Christmas.
And yes, drunken Freddie tried break into my room later that night. I hit him over the head with my chamber-pot! And it was (ugh!) FULL.
Drunk people are always funny when portrayed in an exaggerated manner.
Must be an English thing. Yawn.
No. It's a skit for people with humour. Herman's love it.
