I'm looking forward to getting into Psyche & Eros this month. My one experience with a myth retelling was Song of Achilles, which I DNF'd because I wasn't a huge fan of how focused it was on the romance. I was hoping to get into the story, but have the romance as a more secondary feature than it actually was. Though it was awesome that it went above and beyond with acknowledging Patroclus and Achilles' relationship. With Psyche & Eros, I'm going in with the expectation that the romance is important so I don't mind that.
I didn't enjoy the Song of Achilles either, despite it being so popular. I prefer Circe by same author, that book doesn't focus on the romance as much. I'm also expecting Psyche & Eros to be mostly romance, so I have a different set of expectations 🙂

@@MichaelaASMR That's reassuring. When I'm not into a popular book I always wonder what I'm not understanding about it. It's popular for a reason.
