Some pinoys really work hards, they find ways to earn a living even for just few pesos a day. Sometimes you can see in their faces that the day is not cooperating. This touched my heart. We just retired from US my husband always give few coins to baggers, security guards and etc .just being grateful and thankful of the blessings.
Having a family-oriented culture is great but it can also result in dependency and laziness where there is only one bread-winner in a household. The others do not work or are allergic to work. Well, I am talking about my relatives over in the Phil.
Yes, I love he respect. It gets lost in, for example Germany, like 50 to 55 years ago. That is one very important character in the Philippines what I love and it is one of the reason I will go to live in the Philippines
I agree with all you have said. Being an American married to a Filipina I enjoy the Filipino culture and visiting the Philippines. My wife says sir and mam when talking to people and po when speaking to other Filipinos.
Yes, I came to Naval, Biliran Because I wanted a Traditional Wife, Respecting their Parents and Elders, Family Values, someone who wants to be a loving and commited life partner! I have serveral Army Buddies who are married to Filipinas and are the happiest they have ever been!! So, I took a chance, and I found a good Christian Woman who was Created Just For Me! We Both Put God First and We Met Because We Both Prayed for a Christian Partner and Now We've been married for over 3 Months Now! I appreciate your Vloggs with Quality Information!
I agree with everything you discussed. My only complain is that filipinos in the Philippines sometimes do not adhere to time especially being on time for scheduled appointments. This may be due to the laid back attitude. But overall, the Philippine culture is great.
I think having a religious upbringing also has something to do with it, either Christians, Muslims or something else, they always teach kindness and tolerance.
In America we leave the elders in the nursing home and rarely visit. I worked in a retirement home delivering food and I never saw their relatives. Maybe its because Americans have small families.
I was in the caregiving industry before I decided to come back to the PH. The reason is most of their siblings are either in other states or they’re just too busy with work. Need to pay the bills
You are right about the bank lines. Clearly people have been waiting an hour or more and I get called ahead of the line. That's when the American comes out in me and I get embarrassed and want to wait my turn.
What I have noticed in PI banking is when u get a number at the bank, maybe u will be called fast or maybe you will wait. Doesn’t have to do if busy or not. What I see is people getting a number and going straight to teller or banker and getting help then and there. You have a lower number? , who cares the brave customer who went to get help will then be serviced. Now that’s wrong, but very common. I see it all the time
Visayans don"t say po or opo. Only the Tagalogs or mainland residents. I believe some Pinoys are lazy, since you will find that most successful businessmen/women are of Chinese descent. Pinoys prefer to work 9-5, with benefits and they are happy for having a stable job until retirement.
That is the American way. Men don't even offer their seat to a woman because they are considered equal. Sometimes I wonder whose fault this is--the man or the woman.
Owning a gun does not cause violence. It is the people who use the gun for illegal purposes that causes violence. This is no different from owning a kitchen knife. If used improperly, a kitchen knife can also take a life.
There's over a million unregistered guns in the Philippines, that's not including home made and improvised. There's gun violence in the Philippines, but it's not as severe as other countries.
VG, one should get a discount, if a senior, but disagree with front of line or priority lanes. Here is why!! 1. Seems that the elite always get their way in the PI. When was the last time u saw a T shirt wearing, shorts poor looking lolo waiting for any service?? Seems the PI doesn’t even allow some poor people in certain areas. 2. We have kids who work hard and need to get home, school, ect. To have a rich Lolo all go a sudden just get in front. 3. They should be courtesy lines, not priority lines. My time is valuable as much as anyone. Yes, I am American and we are all equal. Is the same in the PI???❤
Yes, I am Filipina and my time is also valuable. But in the PI it's just part of our culture to give respect to the elderlies and those priority lines are just part of it. They even have free movie tickets 😊 This respect is rooted in the fact that they have worked hard enough (raised kids, provide for the family, etc) and it's time for them to take it easy. Isn't it great to grow old in the Phils? And you know that saying "when in Rome..."?😊
Because it applies to everyone who’s 60 and above regardless. And there is no such thing as “Do not Enter If you’re poor”. I live in the US for 30 plus years and I do agree with VG about them being more friendly and courteous. They smile despite their financial difficulties thus I am slowly starting to plan my move to the PI. Have a good one
@@CRUSADER168 Good luck on your move. While I love the PI, it could be aggravating due to lack of infrastructure and corruption. Still my favorite country after the good old USA
Filipinos are also mapagbigay or generous that even if they have nothing left, they will still give you the best.

Good morning Sir, family oriented at masayahin kahit na konti lang ang pera or resources natin.
Bisaya Filipinos are the most hospitable filipinos..
Family Oriented vs Independent do you agree Grandpa that both has it advantages and disadvantages. I would say YES!

You are one lucky guy! Not all expats find a woman to be a good wife. Congratulations.
I met my wife at church so I agree with you. Some people are looking in the wrong places.

Yes .. indeed .. Grandpa..😍
Agree to all what say
Nice topic po

Simple it's new to them..

Do not lump everyone in the same category. There's lazy people anywhere you go.
Maybe the courtesy they extend is to compensate or shade their poor quality services or substandard processes. Thoughts?
I don't believe so.
You got it right, bro!
Respect is earned .. show respect the Philippine way and you received respect back..
I prefer working with white folks to fellow Filipinos here in the US, especially in the hospital.
In USA they will give a finger
You call it equality in US. Old and young alike have the same rights and privileges.
That is the American way. Men don't even offer their seat to a woman because they are considered equal. Sometimes I wonder whose fault this is--the man or the woman.
How I can be deported I don't want to spend one day more here, I don't have money to pay anything more, voluntary departure?
Better go to the nearest Philippine consulate and inquire there
In the U.S. there’s what you call racism (not all) and gun violence because of the private persons ability to own gun.
Owning a gun does not cause violence. It is the people who use the gun for illegal purposes that causes violence. This is no different from owning a kitchen knife. If used improperly, a kitchen knife can also take a life.

Gun violence in America is abhorrent. Well, if they can't change the law, many more innocent people will lose their lives.
