No Linebackers. Injury depleted linebacker corps. That's why Nance keeps saying "7 defensive backs". They were actually rolling with 6 db's, and Adrian Phillips - an injured safety - was trying to do some yeoman work at replacement backer. That's a big reason why the Charger D was getting worked.

If you are a Chargers fan, you should be really happy and grateful of this season. You guys beat some real quality teams, and you've managed to form one of the most complete teams in the league. It's unfortunate that the loss had to come against Brady, but all in all I feel that each player and fan should hold their head high of what they have accomplished this season. Regarding the Patriots however, I am looking forward to a rematch now in Arrowhead, I can't wait!

I would never bet against the Patriots. I don't even bet on games, but if I did, I would never assume the chance of the Patriots losing. I also don't consider myself a Patriots fan (or a dedicated fan of any specific team, although I do prefer some over others), but I have friends who are and who aren't. It's always much more fun for me to watch football games of the Patriots, with Patriots fans. They are a fun team to watch.

Not gonna lie, I was REALLY hoping one of the Patriots players would do the old Shawne Merriman "Lights Out" dance like they did in 06. Still a very impressive win. Chiefs at Arrowhead will be tough, but I know the Pats will give it all they have. And that's all I can ask for as a fan. LET'S GOOO!

I've thought from the start that the Chargers terrible trench play would be the death of them.
That said at some point they were simply too winded to play and I'd put the blame on their O-Line more than their defense.

This is where Belichick is a genius. He tailors the game to his personnels strengths. Realizing Brady has lost something he's constructed a great running game around him. It keeps the defense off guard, and when Brady goes to pass the defense is on its heels and players in the back field pick up the pass rush, or get a quick screen or outlet pass. The year Brady got injured, he had Matt Cassel looking like an all pro by the end of the season.
