Thank you again.
I'm so glad I could help add some color to the arrangement for you! Have fun playing it with your band :)
Nice! I was just thinking about requesting this last week!
Perfect!
Another great selection, right off my playlist. Another song from the era that I don’t see any tutorials for is “Amie” by Pure Prairie League. With the intro being the way it is, I’m surprised it’s not really done. Again, thank for having a good time and sharing it with the folks.
Glad to hear it!! I'll check out Aimie
Oh yea, I know this song! I'll mull it over
Srsly beautiful performance man you absolutely killed it. I’d be happy if I can ever do it half as good as you!!
Thanks so much!
Wow, I discovered this page a few weeks ago and I’ve loved the tutorials. It… makes… sense!
My one request - Where The Streets Have No Name by U2
Glad to hear it! And good idea...
Nate, I think your style of teaching is fantastic! The pacing is perfect, and I love the “optional details” that you often show so every level of pianist can play along. The full playthroughs at the end are great too!
I would love to see your take on any of the following:
- More Than a Feeling by Boston
- Flashdance… What a Feeling by Irene Cara
- Fading Like a Flower by Roxette
Thanks so much for the kind words! These are cool requests, I'll definitely mull them over...
You must know exactly what’s on my playlist of next songs. Great job as always .
Awesome! Thank you!
Nate thanks for fitting this in - going to be a big hit with our band.
Awesome!! Thanks for the request :)
More Quality content from Nate. Another Classic Gem. Thanks Nate.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nate, Super!
Cheers!
Good job, Mr Nate! You are a brilliant man, indeed.
🙏🙏
Your tutorials are always great. I have a request for She Talks to Angels by the Black Crowes. I think it is just three chords and the acoustic version is all piano. Thank you as always!
I’ll check it out! Thanks for the kind words 😊
Great song choice, Nate. You are the best
Cheers, John!
Keep ‘em coming Nate! My repertoire is expanding exponentially thanks to you! I love these 70’s classics! Wouldn’t mind seeing another 80’s song or two either - Suggestions - Subdivisions by Rush, or Runaway by Bon Jovi. Do you not have Patreon Nate? I’d be in!
So glad to hear this! Thanks for the kind words, as well as the cool song suggestions! I don't have a patreon...I feel like making the perks worthwhile would take too much of my energy away from my main channel and my paid courses. Could you make a tutorial for the song “Call It What You Want” by Taylor Swift, please?
Thanks so much for this man!!! Is there any way you could post the midi for this? I’d even pay for it!
Ah, I no longer have the logic session for this. Sorry! Glad you enjoyed the video
@@PianowithNate all good!! The video will suffice just fine
Hey Nate - One theory question which isn't my strong point so the answer might be obvious. As I understand it from formal sheet music and loading the song into my "decoder" the song is in the key of DMaj. Given the three chords I guess an argument could be made for it being in GMaj but would have to study the melody a bit more. In any case, why did you choose the Bm blues scale for the improv section at toward the end? I see that Bm is the relative minor of DMaj perhaps that is linked to it? Don't get me wrong it sounds great just would like to understand how you knew or how you got there? Again the answer might be obvious but don't worry about embarrassing me.
Hi Craig, no worries its a good question! First off, the key isn't totally clear cut...D is the center of gravity in this song and I would say it's in D in the sense that when we are on the D chord the song feels at rest/home. But of course, the D major scale has a C# in it and the second chord features a C natural. G major would be the scale that has all the notes being used, but the song does not revolve around the G chord. I would say it's in "D blues"...the dominant 7 chord on the tonic (D7) is very typical of blues music. And yes, the D major blues scale is the relative major of the B minor blues scale...theyre the same scale just different starting points. I actually should have taught it as the D major blues, or clarified in the video! I just have a habit of thinking of all the blues scales as their minor versions.
OK that makes sense. I'll have to go back and look up the formula but my understanding is there is a scale that is referred to as the MAJOR blues scale. But I think 99% of what I use or am familiar with from guitar is the MINOR blues scale or what most of us know and refer to as just "the blues scale." In any case what you put together sounds great so the name becomes a little less relavant IMO@@PianowithNate
You play guitar, Nate?
I do!
