I am SO pleased at the launch of products like Hycross, Hyryder and GV. To my mind, diesels must make way for strong hybrids and personally, I’d pick a strong hybrid over a diesel, petrol and an EV. No range anxiety, great city efficiency and hopefully reasonable performance for highway runs. If I hadn’t bought the Meridian already, I’d have picked the Innova Hycross in a heartbeat instead (despite, frustratingly, its pedestrian interior quality). I believe CNG should also be part of the comparison (as the grand vitara comes with that option). In the case of CNG the mileage will get a similar(~slightly lower) boost as the stong hybrid(when compared to petrol) but giving a significant up-front cost of acquisition benifit. Boot space loss is also similar in strong hybrid and CNG (great cng cylinder packaging by maruti). Also, we should factor in the high maintenance and repair costs of a more complex strong hybrid system, think about it and let us know your thoughts. Also, Fantastic work with your content & videos!!
Hullo! Thanks for the suggestion! We haven’t been able to experience the CNG version yet. However, we believe the two will cater to different mindsets. The CNG will be the more cost effective solution. But, like with EVs some compromise/adjustment will be required - 1) waiting times at pumps 2)access to pumps is not as widespread as petrol 3)lower performance. The strong hybrid in comparison 1) requires just petrol. No adjustment in usage required. 2)And is also available in the higher spec trims. 3)offers more power and 4) automatic transmission. Do you think that’s fair? Although why shouldn’t CNG be offered in top spec trim?
@@motorinc I strongly agree on the automatic point, thats a big one! Maruti should give CNG in top end variants as well. When it comes to performance, if user will push the strong hybrid the mileage will drop significantly(also mentioned in your test), in the city/sedate driving, i believe lower performance of cng will not be an issue.
Absolutely, if you aren’t clocking that many km, it won’t make sense. But it makes a lot more sense than going EV. 1) single car garage 2) lower cost 3)flexibility. Makes sense?
@@motorinc Makes more sense than EV? Rationally thinking, I'd agree to this. If I were to choose between an EV and Hybrid options for the same car, I'd gravitate towards a hybrid more. But then again, given the current scenarios, I'm unsure about how many of us still prefer driving and hustling in the urban jungle. IMO, these new engine technologies, when they carve their way into commercial segment, will have a more significant ecological impact.
This is the kind of automotive content that we have desperately been asking for. This is a class apart from all the cringy, overhyped, and downright OVERDONE content that's been doing rounds on our feeds for ages. If I could describe MotorInc in one word, it would be ELEGANT.
Alright, I started binge watching this channel, feeling the urge to catch up with all the videos even though I am not into bikes. Absolutely spot on thoughts! I don't know how much was candid and prepared, but the discussion was totally worth listening too! Found you guys on Apple Podcasts too! :)
Just discovered this channel. The production quality and the presentation are spot on. So refreshingly different from all motor channels which are just LOUD.
Is the breakeven true if we include the XUV4OO to the mix? The wheelbase, boot size and price in Pune are all comparable for GVSH and XUV4OO. The only issue I think with an EV is it doesn't work if I have a biker mentality. I want my bike to be able to go whenever I want to. I want to ride 1000km in a day if I want to and my *vehicle* should be able to do that. Any ICE car (hybrid or not) can do that but an EV will struggle.
I did a compare and the boot space of the GVSH is smaller than my recently discontinued Figo / XUV*3OO*. Its no comparison to any of the other sub 4 meter SUVs. What good will it be on the highway with no space to keep the stuff of the family? Thats unfortunately where the Hybrids keep failing. P.S.: Only watched it till 4:16
Just realized that the GVSH is making the XUV3OO Turbosport look better than it is. Same Wheelbase Almost same boot space More power Great GC on both XUV is wider 5 star rated safety on XUV with 6 Airbags Priced so low that you can buy a Tiago MR EV with the difference.
You’ve hit the nail on the head.. it’s that flexibility. An EV can be a great choice in households with 2 or 3 cars. Single car garages.. it becomes more challenging. And great analysis on the 300/400 vs GVSH. The big difference will be running costs.
Hey! Dividing the price difference by the savings in running cost show that the difference in terms of kms to be clocked is huge. If your running is high - then EVs make sense. But there are the other caveats. I am looking forward to driving the XUV 400. Especially because it’s the full size of the platform now. Not sub-4m.
@@SirKart The pricing of XUV400 top end is 3 Lakhs less than GVSH top end. XUV has the same wheelbase and a 40% bigger boot. This is for a car that makes about 60% more power than the GVSH. Do we even have a way to calculate the breakeven? It's absolutely impossible.
Hybrids are not a transitionary solution to india, many people will jump directly to EVs from ICE(young) .but a lot of people especially old ,this can be a transitionary solution to them , hybrids accelerate electrification of Indian automobiles
Yes, you're probably right. But until charging infra and battery energy density issues are solved, we continue to believe that EVs as second vehicles in a garage are better but Strong hybrids in single-car garages are superior
My man whaaaat a video felt like I was in some movie more like the av classes during school days . Just awwww smooth and buttery and the sense of calmness❤❤❤
Amazing production guys. Just a bit of a suggestion: I think it would be great if you could implement a bit more lighting into the videos. To take an example, the segment where the boot is being shown, that part is a little too dark(possibly because of the open boot lid casting a shadow), so as a result, even if the boot was being shown, not much was visible. Just a thought, thought of sharing it here from a viewer’s perspective since you guys are already doing an impeccable job! :)
So well put, i was driving down the internet loops for a better alternative to EVs just yesterday, after knowing that EVs are consuming a lot of electricity which will also affect the environment eventually quite similarly to petrol and sometimes even more, and keeping the Indian circumstances in mind Teslas aren’t very convenient for us, so hybrids are definitely the most convenient way to go, (not done with the hydrogen knowledge yet so giving gyan on hybrids and evs only for today 😂), also, if synthetic fuel ever comes to reality, the synthetic fuel + electric might become a revolutionary invention, but most probably high performance and fun cars won’t be easily existent in the future.
High performance cars will surely be electric. We are willing to make compromises on the practicality front - and so the adjustment will be easier. Let us know which way you go!
I think we should not go completely electric. It's okay in the plains but over here in the Darjeeling hills, we need some grunt in the vehicles. There are slopes where you cannot drive/ride any higher than 2nd gear and even if EVs are able to climb such slopes, then the range would drop significantly (I mean a lot). Cars like Alto give a mileage of 10-12 here and bikes like Splendor give no more than 35-40 so EVs are a liability here for the time being. I think hybrids are the future here. Hope there are brands in the future which have ICE powered vehicles. 🤞
Prashant! Hello from the coast! 🤣 Agreed. But when we took the GV up some serious inclines, it managed with an ease, esp in all-electric mode, that made a lot of sense. Your assessment of the battery situation is spot-on though. But that is literally the big problem that everyone is working on in the e-World.
@@motorinc Range definitely will be an issue even if the problem is sorted as the mileage of ICE vehicles undergo a significant drop. Also, we prefer manual transmission here and almost all vehicles barring scooters are manual here. That's something to think about as well. 😀
It is well worth considering that most EVs have so much more torque than ICE vehicles that it's not even comparable. Hill climbs would be far easier Hybrids are the logical next step for us. As for preference, people talked about preference when scooters were introduced and when CVT scooters were introduced and they kept talking about preference while making Activa the most sold vehicle in the country. Sooner or later, but always, convenience and value wins out over everything else.

Waiting for more...
If I were to buy a SUV today, EV options such as eXUV400 and Tata Nexon or Hyundai Kona will be top of my list as cost per KM is cheapest and there are more than 10000 charging points in Bangalore alone and every where in Karnataka For Himalayan trips ICE cars still make a good choice but for urban areas EV beats Strong hybrids hands down.
Not that we disagree but at least for the next few years, this will depend on local charging infrastructure... BLR is obviously ahead of the curve, other places aren't
@@motorinc it’s a misconception that there’s lack of charging infrastructure in rural India. Sure there’s a shortage of 440v 13KW charging points, but there’s plenty of 220v points. All it takes is to change our mindset around charging. A little bit of planning is all that it takes to Use EV and save money
@@motorinc When it comes to EV 2wheelers there’s no shortage of 220v charging points anywhere in India, In rural india, people are buying EV 2 wheelers as electricity is free for agriculture use!

This Shingee seems to have done quite a bit meditation😄. What I like in electrics is absolute instant troque and fun in driving. That is what Vitara lacks. For the people who ask kitna deti hai boy o boy its a big thumbs up 👍
Very nice presentation. Looking forward more such reviews. Considering the quality, it needs time. Did read your views on Super Meteor. Video coming up?
Nexon battery is 15x bigger than the Strong hybrid battery. It's also an NMC battery, which means it will degrade 15x faster than than the nexon battery. The battery will need replacement in 150k km. Fortunately there is enough real world data on hybrid batteries to find out when they will fail, especially in hotter climate like ours
Excellent presentation and the delivery is in very calm and well relaxed way, loved the video ❤ It made me to remember some of my nostalgia where such moments were rare to find. Keep it up Motorinc Team 👍💐
Maruti Suzuki implementing hybrid in all of its cars may be more impactful for going green rather than ev even single digit percentage improvement in efficiency / fuel consumption for more than 50% of the vehicles sold will create better impact
There spec sheets, detailed riding reviews, comparisons and what not. And at the end of it all you are still left thinking 'should i buy this?' and then you have this in point video. There is a purpose to this car, what is the upside? And what is the downside from the very same purpose. Decision made. It was rather anti climatic in the end with the space bit. I have been suggesting this to elders in the family but i don't think it will suit their needs. Cheers and thankyou.
Hello! Thank you for being here with us and for taking time out to speak with us. Happy to know your thoughts. 🙏🏾 if you have any recommendations do let us know! Thanks again.
I've been thinking about getting a hybrid for quite some time now. The problem is that my requirements seem to get split almost evenly between the City Hybrid and the Grand Vitara. I prefer the City's sedan format, 5-star safety rating, 4-cylinder engine and the smoothness that comes with it. While the Grand Vitara boasts of a higher ground clearance, better suspension set-up for most of our roads and the fact that it's a Maruti. Boot space is compromised in both cases but I suspect the Maruti maybe can handle the luggage arrangement better. I couldn't feel any significant difference between the build quality of both these cars. Any suggestion/ insight regarding either of these as a daily driver would be helpful.
The real reason to go for the GV over the City would be ground clearance/stance. If you prefer to drive - chassis/suspension is superb. The real reason to go for the City over the GV would be the better back seat. And if you prefer to be driven.
Hello Kartikeya, would you have similar feedbacks or better for City Ehev? It's a 4 cylinder at the end. So acceleration? Faster overtaking compared to MS GV? A sedan lover's delight vs SUV owner's delight? Comparo possible?
If you believe the EV scooter industry's user-generated trip data... 22km a day on average... and then quadruple it to cover most of the week, then a strong hybrid car, Shumi, should have about 80km of e-range to be absolutely golden.
@MotorInc 80KM as Pure EV is good for a Plug In Hybrid. For just a self charging hybrid, 80 km is too many. Even 10km is good enough. That minimal requirement lets us weed out the fake SHVS ones. That's just about enough strength for a Strong Hybrid.
Sensible. Practical. Almost makes you wanna make that smart choice kinda car. And this review sums it up so perfectly. But do we make the smart choice? 🤔
@@motorinc what we all really want is the 1.4 4 pot turbo, i wish Maruti can listen and bring that in any form. My Baleno RS has been the most hassle free car i have owned and i do not want to upgrade to another brand, with their horror stories and service issues, for example the i20 N Line's Fuel Pump issues. Brilliant content and delivery by both you and shumi on this channel, love every video you guys have uploaded till now, keep it up :D
What about the panoramic sunroof's shade being flimsy or not having enough protection from the sun. Did you guys face issue of heating? Although not the best time to test it. Maybe a insight would be helpful
@@motorinc no questions, I can't even afford a 20 lakhs worth car as of now. However, it would be incredible to watch you people travelling. Well organised travel vlogs are thoroughly enjoyable.
Both are the same car. If you are buying a strong hybrid - the Toyota is cheaper. I’m which case the better pick - because the features are the same. But which one do you think looks better? Most people will decide on that basis.
Do your thoughts on the Vitara translate to the Hyryder too? The styling obviously is subjective, but in all other aspects same thoughts for the hyryder? Also, the production quality of this video, the detailed showcasing of the car was absolutely stunning!!
hi there. i own a diesel ciaz and my running is highway heavy..is GV a machine which i can upgarde to. weekly if i have to quote KMS it will be somehwere in range of 250 to 300kms... please shower some light on this??? thank u so much
Hey Ritesh, the GV will be great for highway use. Your usage won’t be much - so the mild hybrid will be the more economical option. For the richer experience you should try the strong hybrid and then decide.
EVs for now are mostly a 2nd car and almost everyone will prefer an ICE over EV as a primary car. This fixes that issue. This can be your only car. Something most people want. And something that’s better for everyone. I hope they double down on battery capacities in the coming years. To make it an even better city car. Considering cars spend most of their time in the city and I still wonder if plug in hybrids were the way to go over this hybrid
I think Honda City Hybrid is far more Stronger and refined as a power train than this. It's my humble opinion.. coming from the guy who has driven both.
Can we dedicate time to speak more on all variants. since most of them wouldn't be able to afford the top variants and people buying lower variants might get misinformed by seeing this review since features get reduced as we go lower
Today there are so many channels doing different things, and still being unique bringing something new to the table hats off guys. This is the new benchmark now its time for other people to catch up, enjoyed every bit of it.
We’ll make a note of it - would help us to know how you were watching - phone/TV/Laptop,with headphones or without, general environment - quiet/noisy/moving vehicle? Thank you!
I have a doubt with such strong hybrids... ICE engines in this category have approx 150hp & 250nm's... Strong hybrids have lesser specs on sheet, like 100hp & 130nm's... > Will both cars have the same feel on all kinds of roads ? Highways, cities, no roads, etc. The same is the case with Innova Hycross, other competitors have around 200bhp & 350nm's. Whereas for Innova hycross, its 180hp & 180nm's. * the values mentioned are approximate ones.
Think of it this way - electric drive gives you instant torque - so it is very effective at low speeds or when you need to change pace(hi-torque requirements). Which makes the performance feel like a bigger engine than what it looks like on paper. But there will be a difference in terms of outright performance, hi-speed/highway usage - especially if they’re is a big difference in power/torque.

@@motorinc
I strongly agree on the automatic point, thats a big one!
Maruti should give CNG in top end variants as well.
When it comes to performance, if user will push the strong hybrid the mileage will drop significantly(also mentioned in your test), in the city/sedate driving, i believe lower performance of cng will not be an issue.
Fantastic. Great presentation as well.
But the cost breakeven point for people who don't run their cars much is still questionable to me. 🤔
Absolutely, if you aren’t clocking that many km, it won’t make sense. But it makes a lot more sense than going EV. 1) single car garage 2) lower cost 3)flexibility. Makes sense?
Thanks Ishaan! Let's discuss it. What's your perspective on this?
@@motorinc Makes more sense than EV? Rationally thinking, I'd agree to this.
If I were to choose between an EV and Hybrid options for the same car, I'd gravitate towards a hybrid more. But then again, given the current scenarios, I'm unsure about how many of us still prefer driving and hustling in the urban jungle.
IMO, these new engine technologies, when they carve their way into commercial segment, will have a more significant ecological impact.
I love how he is not shouting to get his point across. Quite refreshing on UA-cam.
This is the kind of automotive content that we have desperately been asking for.
This is a class apart from all the cringy, overhyped, and downright OVERDONE content that's been doing rounds on our feeds for ages.
If I could describe MotorInc in one word, it would be ELEGANT.
Oh wowow! We’re just gonna say - ❤️!
Alright, I started binge watching this channel, feeling the urge to catch up with all the videos even though I am not into bikes. Absolutely spot on thoughts! I don't know how much was candid and prepared, but the discussion was totally worth listening too! Found you guys on Apple Podcasts too! :)
Hey, welcome aboard. Glad you like our content. 🙌❤️
Just discovered this channel. The production quality and the presentation are spot on. So refreshingly different from all motor channels which are just LOUD.
Thanks so much for joining in! Do check out the other videos too!
Same Wheelbase
Almost same boot space
More power
Great GC on both
XUV is wider
5 star rated safety on XUV with 6 Airbags
Priced so low that you can buy a Tiago MR EV with the difference.
Yes,today EVs are second vehicles. lot of families are buying second vehicles ,a Ev would be a great choice for that
My man whaaaat a video felt like I was in some movie more like the av classes during school days . Just awwww smooth and buttery and the sense of calmness❤❤❤
Amazing production guys. Just a bit of a suggestion:
I think it would be great if you could implement a bit more lighting into the videos.
Thank you so much! Feedback noted! Just checking - we’re you watching this on phone? Was the brightness dialled up? Thanks in advance.
Great content, fantastic presentation, I hope you continue to scale with this type of content
Noted sah! And, thank you!
Agreed. But when we took the GV up some serious inclines, it managed with an ease, esp in all-electric mode, that made a lot of sense. Your assessment of the battery situation is spot-on though. But that is literally the big problem that everyone is working on in the e-World.
Oh and don't worry. ICEs won't disappear very quickly. They'll be around for a while
@@motorinc Range definitely will be an issue even if the problem is sorted as the mileage of ICE vehicles undergo a significant drop. Also, we prefer manual transmission here and almost all vehicles barring scooters are manual here. That's something to think about as well. 😀
It is well worth considering that most EVs have so much more torque than ICE vehicles that it's not even comparable. Hill climbs would be far easier
Hybrids are the logical next step for us. As for preference, people talked about preference when scooters were introduced and when CVT scooters were introduced and they kept talking about preference while making Activa the most sold vehicle in the country.
Sooner or later, but always, convenience and value wins out over everything else.
Wow ‘Please consider subscribing’ .. that’s something I am seeing for first time .. well, that sums up the video which was gentle and aesthetically beautiful, I bet it can make anyone in love with the product … loved the content and the presentation.. you Kartik have just added a fan to your growing list of fans 👍👍👍
Thanks Anandp! Welcome to MotorInc!
Dang!!! Thats a sensible review!!!! 🤗
🤣 There's other kinds?
I love watching motorInc, it's refreshing to get reviews on cars in the manner Karthikeya delivers it.
Kartikeya bro, I felt the video was a bit calm. Trying a new style of narration? and am happy to see you back with a review. Being an auto enthusiast, those were the days when I used to see regular reviews from you and Rohan from PD Army. As always, you dissected and pointed out all the bits. Now That's a review. Waiting for more...
Did you like it? We’d love to know!
@@motorinc yes liked it
Like the aesthetics of these videos. Something refreshing.
Thank you Sumit! Much appreciated!
If I were to buy a SUV today, EV options such as eXUV400 and Tata Nexon or Hyundai Kona will be top of my list as cost per KM is cheapest and there are more than 10000 charging points in Bangalore alone and every where in Karnataka
For Himalayan trips ICE cars still make a good choice but for urban areas EV beats Strong hybrids hands down.
@@motorinc When it comes to EV 2wheelers there’s no shortage of 220v charging points anywhere in India,
In rural india, people are buying EV 2 wheelers as electricity is free for agriculture use!

Way to go 😍
Thank you Vikrant! Music to our ears! 😄
This Shingee seems to have done quite a bit meditation😄.
What I like in electrics is absolute instant troque and fun in driving.
That is what Vitara lacks.
For the people who ask kitna deti hai boy o boy its a big thumbs up 👍
It's not slow! The torque is there... but yeah, the driving experience is a little too subtle for it to be considered outright fun
Very nice presentation. Looking forward more such reviews. Considering the quality, it needs time. Did read your views on Super Meteor. Video coming up?
Hullo! Thank you! And Super Meteor will take some time. Do stay tuned.
Actually waiting for every update from your team 😉
Thank you! Working as fast as we can!
Loved the style and presentation!
Thankyewvhaarymach! ❤️
Excellent presentation and the delivery is in very calm and well relaxed way, loved the video ❤
It made me to remember some of my nostalgia where such moments were rare to find. Keep it up Motorinc Team 👍💐

Maruti Suzuki implementing hybrid in all of its cars may be more impactful for going green rather than ev
even single digit percentage improvement in efficiency / fuel consumption for more than 50% of the vehicles sold will create better impact
True! Drops make the ocean!
Coming from the Renault Duster 110PS does it feel it lacks power especially when you want to overtake and you need that extra power? Your thought?
Great review.
Thank you!
The quality of video is fit for a luxury brand like RR.. still its about our own Maruti Suzuki GVitara.
City with AC on e.g mumbai will it run on ICE or Battery?
Blower runs on battery and the compressor runs on engine power
What a video... It's like I'm watching Art.
So minimalistic ❤️
Hope it helped!
Took me through a journey.. not only help 😁
They should have put the spare tire below the car in mild hybrid, giving a lot more boot space
And boot space on hybrid is a deal breaker for many
Packaging is proper challenge when you have two complete powertrains in a vehicle for sure
But but how strong should a hybrid be? 😆
50 km EV only range strong
If you believe the EV scooter industry's user-generated trip data... 22km a day on average... and then quadruple it to cover most of the week, then a strong hybrid car, Shumi, should have about 80km of e-range to be absolutely golden.
@@motorinc as a data scientist,i believe user-generated data is the most useful metric ,i agre with u
@@motorinc 80km pure EV! Superb!
INB4 tin ka dabba brigade :P
Well, that is up to us. Starts with being clear on what we really need, and want. All the best!
Guys, this is great "QUALITY" content. I've not even watched the entire video!

What about the panoramic sunroof's shade being flimsy or not having enough protection from the sun. Did you guys face issue of heating? Although not the best time to test it. Maybe a insight would be helpful
It was hot enough in the Delhi - Chandigarh stint. But no obvious issue then. Will check the next time we get our hands on it.

I guess we’ll have to make one now. But seriously.. we did the journey and have shared what we found here. If you have any questions - do let us know.

Most of the people are buying mild hybrid version considering cost ..please make a video for this car to
hyryder vs vitara which is a sensible option , kartikeya sir
Both are the same car. If you are buying a strong hybrid - the Toyota is cheaper. I’m which case the better pick - because the features are the same. But which one do you think looks better? Most people will decide on that basis.
I would say pick depending 1) which you think looks better 2) who is giving faster delivery! Please let me know how it goes!
@@motorinc I think from front hyryder and from tail vitara
Shumi and Kartik, need a video on 650 Super Meteor!

Do your thoughts on the Vitara translate to the Hyryder too? The styling obviously is subjective, but in all other aspects same thoughts for the hyryder? Also, the production quality of this video, the detailed showcasing of the car was absolutely stunning!!
Yes they do! They are the same car after all. And, thank you!
How come it's so home in all these conditions when what I think the ICE only provides round about 70 Hp give or take?
hi there. i own a diesel ciaz and my running is highway heavy..is GV a machine which i can upgarde to. weekly if i have to quote KMS it will be somehwere in range of 250 to 300kms... please shower some light on this??? thank u so much
Hey Ritesh, the GV will be great for highway use. Your usage won’t be much - so the mild hybrid will be the more economical option. For the richer experience you should try the strong hybrid and then decide.
This review feels like porshe 911 .looks elegant . Does everything right . Beats everyone' in drag race . ( Here's the competition)
We love that analogy! ❤️ thank you!
PHEVs will be superior, but since they have effectively two complete powertrains, they are also quite a bit more expensive than strong hybrids
Can you make a video on Dynamic Force Engine and how its could slow down transition to EV.
perfection , take your time to upload your videos
Sweet! ❤️ thank you!

I think Honda City Hybrid is far more Stronger and refined as a power train than this. It's my humble opinion.. coming from the guy who has driven both.
Glad to hear your opinion! This isn’t a comparison -we would recommend more people to opt for the hybrid. City or GV or HyRyder. Simple!
Hey! Great to know you have driven both. The City is a great package too for sure! How do you quantify it being stronger? Thanks!
@@SirKart haha stronger as in performance.

Would love to see you do a video on cars to buy in that 20L ballpark
Thanks for the suggestion!
