    Would love to see you do a ride on “real” food and compare how you feel during and after the ride. Maybe less processed food might keep the gout at bay

    Very informative. I’m toying with the idea of completing the food chain story… “What I micturate and defaecate in a day while riding my bike”. I reckon it could break t’interweb.

    Fruit. Lots of fruit at every stop. Which can be difficult to buy at a gas station, but dates are easy to pack and give a solid kick.

      You can forget fruit on rides like this in fact most rides ...unless it’s tinned...dates work...so does orange juice for me...but you’ll not find sugary ripe fruit...🤨

      True story, after the 200 this weekend it was lentils boiled with garlic and veg stock, fried onions stirred in. Will be something different each time usually

      Blimey Adam, I wish I could use Digestives to fuel my long rides - 200k on one pack is cheap cycle petrol! Sadly as a (mostly) gluten free vegan, I have to shell out way more on my fuel to keep the pedals turning🙈

    I find some cereal bars ('could' even be home made if desired) to have a good balance of ingredients and reasonably robust for a day in your pocket without turning to mush. I don't go as far as you though!

    Dissapointed. When the pc based analysis kicked in I thought this was going to be an expletive laden Hambini style takedown of digestive biscuits. However, it turned out to be the most peaceful and relaxing video I've ever watched on UA-cam 😂

    If you have gout avoiding aged cheese, aged meats, and wines is important. You wouldn't go near any of those anyhow. On a recent ride my computer said 5300 calories for 125k. I have started to try and eat more during a ride but would have difficulty consuming as many calories as you had. It would seem that a strong gut is critical for distance riding. Something to work on that gets less attention than it deserves?

    Didn't you have any breakfast before leaving home? I suspect you did. A lot of garbage in there even for a long audax day. Choc milk, porridge, poached eggs on toast. Bananas? We usually have a proper cafe stop for breakfast and lunch then maybe garage garbage during the afternoon. Don't you find digestives hard to eat on bike? Too dry.

      You spotted a key error, I omitted about 800 cal of breakfast ! Toast and marmalade btw annoyed as I remembered before finishing the vid then got distracted again. I seem to cope with dry biscuits ok
