I enjoyed watching this playthrough and rules explanation. I bought the game a few weeks ago but haven't yet played it or even read through the rules but this has given me a great idea of how it plays. Really well done even with mistakes / corrections - which in my opinion help to "focus" the mind on the intricate bits and pieces that might get missed / forgotten. Thanks for doing it and sharing.
Love The Last Kingdom, love John D. Clair, love area control, I just wish this had a solo mode somehow (though I recognize this type of game is near-impossible to design a solo mode for). I would have backed it in an instant. As it is I am on the fence. Just not sure I will ever get to play it.
Clarification at 1:22: This game takes place between "1872 and 1898", is that right? It looks more like 872 and 898🤔? Thank you again for your time on these great playthroughs.
Finally, I finished this review. This game is a lot more interesting than I thought before. It was weird for me that there is only two rounds, I wondered how that would work. But it does, so the game is not very long. Would it be done 20 years ago, I'm sure it would have had 4 rounds or more. Thanks, John!
Thank you for this tutorial!I hope the game will go on retail and top would be with an Italian translation to play with friends not too used to English..
Great play through, but it would have been nice to at least show what VP's had been earned through out round 1 :P I have a day and a half to decide if this will see enough of the table to back it though. Thank you for giving me some information to help me make that choice.
hey love your playthroughs, i was wondering is there a reason for the example player to have lost 4 action tokens after you summoned ragnar at about 31:11? did i miss a cost for summoning?
That's what I was noticing too, since I only thing I can think of that Josh did between clips was take a market action for 4 action points, but there's wasn't a scene of him spending 4 action points on anything. I hope he'll be able to answer that question when he checks the comments, since I got confused about why his player when from 7 actions to 3 without showing any actions that spends points beside moving and/or market actions.
I agree with what others have proposed, I must have done a market action and then changed my mind but forgot to give those action tokens back. Sorry for the confusion there!
Very informative! Thank you.

Wow, that's embarrassing! Yeah, please ignore those leading centuries there.

maybe he tried to showcase something different on a clip that didn't make the cut? There was no summoning cost mentioned.
