This reminds us of Ukraine shelling Donbas for 10 years and their former president proudly saying their children will be forced to live in basements while ours will play outside.
Civilians are always the biggest victims and losers in any war. My own family had to live that hell and I don't wish it on any side.

Does it reminds you of Ukraine defending its borders from the predation of its Russian neighbour does it?
As it used its proxy militia to take over the two oblasts illegally attacked.
Ukraine defended itself from Russian artillery bombardment as the militias attempted to acquire more land under its control.

Why Zelensky signed a decret banning any negotiations with Russia? Why he killed the Ukrainian guy who was negociating peace? Why Syrski who is 100% ething russian become a chief of army while his parents and siblings live in Moscow and he can be easily blackmailed? Not like putin need to blackmailed him, Syrski is known from loosing battles and sending Ukrainians for useless death. There are planty of those whys. I have been following developments in Ukraine for two and a half years. From the beginning I have read the Russian side and its justification by reading President Putin's statements, speeches to the nation, Duma demands for Putin to finally intervene in eastern Ukraine, as the shelling by Ukrainian troops against the separatists had increased significantly. The threatening backdrop on the Ukrainian-Russian border. Border had in December 2021 and the diplomatic talks with Biden, NATO were unsuccessful. It was not a surprise attack, but rather a trap to portray Russia to the public as evil. But that's not true. What led to a war is regularly ignored by the USA;NATO;UK. The arrogance of NATO in its belief in the superiority of NATO ARMENMENT; TECHNOLOGY: PROGRESS led to a complete misjudgment of industrial resilience, morale and global perspective on what and why Russia responded. The insults towards Putin and hatred of Russians shows how wrong the NATO LEADERS have personally sworn themselves to a kind of defeat. Vanity and bubble communication have become divisive from the desires of their own people and will lead to the collapse of some governments.

Russian shouldn't have been in luhansk and donetsk regions trying to subvert the government and create this breakaway movement, after taking crimea. Putin has made the threat of nato on his border 10x with this and by meddling with ukraine in 2014. Before that actually with the last president being a puppet. Russia isn't innocent, they've been pushing more and more to the point of war and here we're at.

Russian citizens vote for Putin not because they are supposedly afraid of him. The attitude towards him is very critical. But there is an understanding that he is somehow going the right way, defending Russia's national interests. People are afraid that Putin will show gentleness and agree to unfavorable conditions by ending hostilities. By the way, this worried a people when Russia offered very soft and favorable conditions for Ukraine at the peace talks in March 2022. Zelensky's gang had to be a complete idiot to heed Johnson's advice to "just start a war with Russia." The people of Russia no longer have any illusions about "friends in the free and humane West."

Where do you think a lot of western politicians launder their money? Before the war, Ukraine was considered one of the most corrupt countries in Europe. War doesn't change underlying problems, merely hides them behind the need for national defense. The longer a war progresses, the more waste, fraud, and abuse, is permitted for the goal of "winning the war." It was obvious to me when the US Military had to send advisors in to confirm their weapons were going where they were supposed to.

8:44 I found this part redundant if that is the right word to describe it. Russia doesn't need to "benefit" because Ukraine has been doing this for more than 10 YEARS now. Ukraine hasn't stopped shelling civilians in Donetsk and once Russia invaded, they started shelling Russian civilians. This is nothing new for anyone that has been following or researched the actual conflict since 2014 and not the bs narrative the media told everyone.
At the beginning of the invasion in 2022 the narrative was that Russia, on top of the "demoralized, unmotivated, untrained, etc etc" there was also the "Russian troops didn't even knew they were in Ukraine, they thought they were doing military exercises inside Russia". ANYONE with more than 2 brain cells, and this isn't an insult, this has become ridiculous at this point, anyone who didn't followed this clear bs narrative knew Ukraine was deliberately targeting civilians and Russian soldiers knew what they were doing.
Russians don't need the president of their country to tell them they are being attacked and that the west is funding this attacks. Everyone has stopped talking about the various terrorist bomb attacks inside Russia carried out by the Ukranians. The missile that struck the fleeing civilians trying to get in a train that left 40+ people gone if I remember correctly, the strike on a concert in Donetsk, the constat random shellings of the city of Donetsk, the new years bombing of the center of Belgorod with cluster munition, and most importantly the terrorist attack in the Russian theater, plus many other deliberate civilian attacks that I am sure I'm missing. All being done by Ukraine backed by the west. Russia is not benefiting from any of this. People know who is doing it and who is responsible. The only ones surprised are the ones who ate the bs narrative at the start of the war.

So if Ukraine manages to hold on they'll eventually get the upper hand.
Also, if Ukraine gets all western production + 1/10th of the ammunition Russia is getting from North Korea being provided by South Korea it would allow Ukraine to get more ammunition then Russia has access to (they're not currently getting that much ammo from South Korea, but that's plausible)

Honestly, one of the most disgusting things happening in this war is the abuse and exploitation of the Ukrainian soldiers and volunteers on the front line. Ukraine has fought an unbelievable fight, punching far above their weight and exploiting Russian mistakes to last far longer than they should have. Corruption affecting supply, pay being stolen, threats of extortion, having to fundraise to get basic combat equipment, extended time in combat due to logistical and planning failures - the list is long. It's sad.

    • @TheGreatAmphibian

This is nonsense. The Ukrainians haven’t fought “above their weight”: they’ve been propped up with massive weapon shipments and the war has gone on for an extended period because the Russians were happy to fight a long, slow artillery war where the casualties were at least 5 to 1 in their favour. As for the sheer endurance shown… Men in trenches who will get shot if they try to retreat - at least if they are caught - don’t have much of a choice. Just look at at the Iran-Iraq War.

I am very pro Russia, but directly were a few spots where Ukraine really could have one especially if they’d been more aggressive early on, and more importantly not wasted, lives in equipment on pointless political theater.
A proper assault on the 40 mile convoy coupled with walking the escape of the old forces group would have wiped out 60,000 Russian troops in 11 days which would have likely been enough to make Russia retreat humiliated and not try again, with none of the objectives met and no strategic gains, either. This would have freed 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers to go in and attack the group from both sides. That’s cutting it off, and either killing, or capturing the entire thing there by having a humiliating total defeat for Russia on all fronts.
The other thing Ukraine did to lose the war, was insist on stubbornly defending every last square micrometer of turf. Yet Ukraine needed to stay maneuver because there is no way anybody can beat the Russians and in a heavy weapons battle of attrition. Once Ukraine decided to try stand-up fighting the Russians man per man, it became hopeless.
Ukraine’s insistence on fighting to the bitter end long past the collapse of defensibility at numerous large scale battles did nothing but feed hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians to coffins, wasted irreplaceable equipment, wasted, irreplaceable, soldiers, and ultimately, just fed the Russian army, massive numbers of easy kills.
Ukraine needed to adopt a mobile warfare approach based on the concept of avoiding direct confrontation, and keeping in the fight, never minding territory, so long as they prevented the Russian ability to control and stabilize it, long-term, basically becoming a very big very well, armed, roving force.

Ukraine continues shelling of civilians in Donetsk Oblast. Yesterday they attacked a fire engine going to a fire. These attacks have never been reported in western MSM. If no one knows about them how can they have an impact,
Russia's attritional work is clearly working as Ukraine has no reserves to bolster the defence of Kharkiv, and divisions are being taken from Kherson, Chasiv yar, and elsewhere. leaving these vulnerable.
The appointment of Belousov to defence secretary may prove a master stroke. He will streamline and integrate military spending
into The Russian economy. As a technocrat and a drone enthusiast. he will encourage the use of innovative weapons. Those politicians and generals etc. are saying this to build up support in their countries for an intervention in Ukraine with European soldiers. (Outside of NATO!). More and more people are accepting for example the introduction of conscription. Or the huge increase in military spending that has to come from higher taxes. Especially in countries who still know how it was like to be occupied in WWII or by the Soviet Union this strategy works. Putler makes us very nervous and are bracing for the worst. In my country, The Netherlands, 200.000 18 year olds are being conscripted in 2025. And for the forseable future, every year after that. The first kids are receiving letters from the government right now when they turn 17. I was one of the last 'years' (1990) to be conscripted when I was 18. In theory I could be called up immediatly but I guess I'm to old to fight on the front. Would probably be in an administration or logistic function.
