Can’t believe it’s been 13 years since he had passed on. Ron Lancaster is still in the top ten of every passing category in CFL history. He came from Western Pennsylvania and moved to Saskatchewan (He played in Ottawa from 1960 to 1962) becoming one of the game’s all time greats. Fearsome, fearless, driven, determined and cerebral as a player. Analytical, insightful, intellectual and superlative as a color commentator. One of the great coaches with 142 wins. He was a legend.
I remember my Dad taking me to my first football game at Taylor field in 1972, i was 7 years old. When the players came on the field, Ronnie and George were GIANTS in the game and always be the Legends of the game to me.
Ronnie becoming Head Coach in Edmonton was heartbreaking as every Saskatchewan fan hates Edmonton more than death and Ronnie joining them was sacrilegious . In a situation too compliocated to explain I was in the Eskimo dressings room talking to Ronnie and I confessed to him how difficult it was to cheer for him while he 's in Edmonton ... he laughed and said , " yah , I've heard that a lot lately .. " I understand he laughed :. Him being an Eskimo was just tooooo much for me ... hating Eskimos was more powerful than cheering for him in Eskimo colors . no apologies extended . R I P Ronnie , Best Play BY play man TV has ever seen >> NFL / CFL and The BEST PUBLIC RELATIONS THE CFL HAS EVER HAD EVERYONE THAT EVER MET RONNIE CAME AWAY FEELING ANTHING BUT ADMIRATION FOR HIM AS A PERSON AND REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CFL AND RONNIE HIMSELF .
Recorded May 2006.

The Rider fans kicked him in the teeth at the end - I've always been ashamed of that.
