  • It's better than a burner number and you've probably never heard of it before. Stop scams, phishing and SIM swap attacks by NOT giving out your primary phone number to anyone who asks. Here's a new way to create phone number "aliases" that is absolutely genius.

      I got the basic gist of it, yes, the explanation's helpful. But..., well, I wrote out the question just now and had to delete it because I think I figured it out. So, clarification then, is the need for two cloaked numbers for each person/group so they have a number to call me and I have a number to call them?
      Otherwise, it sounds like a pretty cool, "All-In-One" solution. If it works consistently and doesn't mess up ones workflow too much if they go out of business, or, if someone decides they no longer want to use the service, then I'm all for it!

      Excellent content & persuasive presentation.
      My solution to keep my cell phone private is to only give out my Landline phone number. My service provider will forward all calls to my cell phone. I can answer the call with my landline or if I'm out & about I can answer the phone call with my cell phone. The caller has no way of knowing I'm answering their call with my cell phone & have no way of obtaining/using/giving out my cell phone #. I don't have a so called "Smart" phone. my 4G Flip phone is enough for me to make & receive calls, make & receive texts.
      I tell everyone I don't have a cell phone & only give out my landline #.

      I wonder if you create a main account then use it to create a second cloaked account then only use the second account, and they get compromised there would be nothing on your main account for anyone to find. Since the second would was created with fictitious data would it be untraceable to anyone? If not, that would be a way to eliminate the "middleman".

    A limiting factor is the number format itself. Unlike the flexibility of email addresses, there are a finite amount of numbers in the available pool and its infrastructure is more tightly controlled. Large block ranges are reserved, and many numbers are recycled after a period of dormancy.

    • @KarmaisReal-sm6bz
      @KarmaisReal-sm6bz 6 місяців тому +1

      That's a valid concern. However, the way it's set up is that their temporary numbers is kinda just make-believe. With actual phone numbers, you're limited to (areacode)-3digits-4digits. With this system, because their app is forwarding the "fake" number to your actual number, the fake number can contain whatever number you want so long as it's not an actual phone number with an actual area code. So for instance, 123 is not a US area code, which means that every number starting with 123 is available.

    • @jdailey4063
      @jdailey4063 3 місяці тому

      @@KarmaisReal-sm6bzI suspect that, as many already do, most sites will be able to detect valid numbers and reject any that cannot be actual phone numbers.

      To be fair, it's not that hard in the UK to get a new number. Pick up a new free (PAYG) SIM card, from most major retailers, and top up £10+. You're set to use it as long as you want. If you want to order online, give fake details, with a real address. You can get several cards, no problem.

    I can't help but wonder how long until we're out of phone numbers again and will have to add more digits. I use an old google voice #... doesn't ring anything anymore, but people can text and leave voicemail. and since I'm not a crApple user, the app is already on my phone.

      I was wondering the same thing about how many phone numbers this might consume. I’m also wondering about area codes, and whether a deleted number could be reassigned to another user in the future.

    • @AllThingsSecured
      @AllThingsSecured  9 місяців тому +1

      So the beauty of this method is that they can reuse these phone numbers with many people. The two-way routing is based on your phone number, so the number can be used multiple times by multiple people (even at the same time).
      I have no doubt that they have controls in place for abuse, but if you’re using it legitimately, you shouldn’t have a problem getting enough numbers.

    Sounds great with a few questions. Companies use text verification systems that fail on VoIP numbers. VoIP calls are always sound like your in a tunnel and worse.
    Does this setup allow regular texts that do not fail? Are the calls after connected use the provider mobile network? Or is this still a VoIP call?

    • @AllThingsSecured
      @AllThingsSecured  9 місяців тому

      I don't think this is a great solution for text verification, honestly. That's the reason I have the static second number with Hushed is for those places where I need text verification (although it doesn't work for all services).
      As for VoIP...I'm not entirely sure. You'll have to ask their team to find out. They don't charge for minutes used, so my guess is that it isn't?

      @AllThingsSecured thanks matey, we have been bombarded with spam calls here in Australia, the Telco, Telstra are doing a fair job at stopping them.
      If these buggers get hold of your real number, and you accidentally answer one, they now know there's someone on the other end. But, if you sign up with eg a online shop, and decide that's it, you can just delete the number you set up with them, that's cool.
      Cheers matey.

    So numbers are allocated per sender/receiver?
    Does this mean other people can use the SAME designated cloak number for their unique sender/receiver?
    What happens if multiple sender/receiver are attempting to use the same cloak number simultaneously?

    • @AllThingsSecured
      @AllThingsSecured  Місяць тому

      The numbers are designated based on the user. So the only way this would be a problem would be if the SAME Cloaked number was issued by two different Cloaked accounts to the same outside phone number. And my guess is that Cloaked probably has a system in place to make sure that doesn't happen (or if not, they should).

      I'm not sure. But keep in mind - I'm using this to communicate with strangers, not my bank. The idea isn't 100% secrecy.

      @@AllThingsSecured well, I know that standard SMS and phone calls are already unencrypted, but I'm just thinking about the fact that we're possibly adding a third party's ability to listen in.
      Like having a random dude at the telecom company listen is one thing, having him and a third private company listen in as well is just increasing the insecurity we already have with it
      Still an awesome product though. I will probably try it out

      Just remove the contact but keep the number. They won’t be able to call you on the number, but you’ll still have the history.

    Seems like an appealing service, but one big question I didn't hear answered: does using a Cloaked alias number satisfy banks and other sensitive entities that frown on virtual numbers?
    I followed a seemingly good idea to get around this, which did not work. I bought a burner phone, added this physical device to my cellular plan, and got a working SIM. I then ported the physical phone's number to Google Voice. This supposedly gave my ported number a non-virtual lineage, and was supposed to satisfy entities with a bias against VoIP. -- WRONG. It doesn't work. The ported number shows up as a Google number on services that provide that data.
    So it Cloaked the same thing, and will it satisfy the real-vs-virtual test?

  • @MNIU_
    @MNIU_ 23 дні тому

    This wouldn’t be helpful for OTP though bc you have to save them first to assign that number to them . Unless you can save them after you receive the text . The biggest reason I like the other apps is bc when it works with a number within the app you can do the OTP verification which you need for monetization on social media

    Hi. Good idea but i still find it confusing after watching several times. What we need is a graphical diagram
    With a clear indication of my actuak phone and my actual phone number. Lets call that ME .
    We then need contact 1 real name ie Tom, toms own number and a unique number from cloaked that tom thinks is my number
    We then need to see where i store toms name his number and the cloaked number , is it stored in my regular phone or on the cloaked app.
    We then need to see an incoming call and text. And a reply.
    We then need to understand if i give the same cloacked number to a group of people at a conference then how do i differentiate between thise people, where is this stored.

    I tried your link. As far as I can tell it is not giving a 15% discount. Which doesn't impress me as to the quality of their service. Either the link doesn't work, or they aren't honoring the discount (after only 10 days since you posted), or???? Plus as you are recommending them, it doesn't give me a lot of faith in your recommendations when the companies you recommend don't follow through.
