Yaaawwnnn...!
Too late to promote this show's oh-so-unique cinematography, after the other aspects of this show has gone downhill.
Worse..
Turns out.. The narration-less purpose of your very "channel" makes it quite a juicy case for this platform's ContentID™ scheme, to say the least.
Utterly off-topic statement to put here, don't ya think - "@@grandestmusic"?
Basically every single scene with Kendall being miserable were art.
Painfully true
For the confession scene, they deliberately chose a location that was brown, parched, and barren. It's meant to contrast with the green lushness of the rest of the episode in the Tuscan gardens. Brilliant.
Exactly
Also Roman in love with Gerri was excellent
Kendall plays the victim role and the helpless son
Its not one of those shows with seemingly gorgeous visuals at first, but the cinematography is brilliant and plays a huge part in the shows story telling! also best show on tv right now.
It’s a show full of rich people of course it has gorgeous visuals along with a great cinematography team
Disagree. It's a piece of fckng art. From the start to the end. What are the optics on this intro?
The cinematography conveys the themes of the show so well, it makes New York look expensive yet so dull, just like the Roys.
I forget the show (for the most part) is even set in New York. It's one of the few shows shot there where you don't really see as much of it as other shows.
I don’t think they are dull
@@AC-gm6dr lol then you must be dull
@@ramsnation196 they wouldn’t be dull if the characters weren’t interesting and show
@@ramsnation196 They are very flawed people but definitely not dull.
1:28 has to be one of the most unexpected shots i've ever seen on TV. I have no idea how they could even come up with that idea and such perfect execution, as reflections can be so tricky to work with
Oh my god, you're right! I didnt see this because its after the rape me scene.
Istg when I watched this for the first time I thought to myself 'this is going to be in one of those youtube cinematography videos'
I was like “ Damn! that’s dope “ once I saw it.
You’re right , it was a beautiful shot.
Yeah when i saw this it blew my mind
{Only-&-only to the OP: }Depends upon how much one cares about the character, though.
01:52 where the plane flew across Logan's body as if it was slicing his neck, compared to s4e3. The writing is just magnificent.
The silhouette shot at 3:20 is still it for me, it beautifully captures the moment in Kendall's evolution as a character.
It's my favorite shot!!
YES!!! Also! It beautifully encapsulates what Conner said in that same episode only moments previous about Logan's parenting theory: If you have two dogs fighting, you send them both off to figure out which one is the weakest. Then you punish the weak one in order to establish the hierarchy. That shot (3:20) is a visual representation of the hierarchy under Logan! Kendall is and will always be the top :')
2:30❤
When i saw this for first time I really fell in love with the serie. That moment was just brilliant
Yup definitely one of my favorite shots in the show. I literally hit the rewind button first time I saw it just so I could appreciate it again.
The true beauty of this show is its writing, although the cinematography is also gorgeous
I think that without cinematography, writing would not be fully extracted, it would be like just listening to True Detective's dialogue and not feeling that world.
There's a tracking shot from season 3 that I absolutely loved. Kendall is backstage on the talk show after Shiv's letter goes public. As he walks down the hall, it focuses on his face moving from light into darkness, as his mask of happiness slips off into misery. A lot of that scene is Jeremy Strong's acting, but it's brilliantly lit and shot.
To be honest, I have been so focused on the writing, acting, and direction that I hadn't focussed on how exquisitely shot it is. Great video.Thanks.
What’s brilliant about this show is the way it captures the moment. The moment of tragedy, the moment of truth, the moment of realisation, the moment of victory. Through witty and sharp dialogues, through that banger music (which brilliantly takes advantage of the scene. Nicholas Britell created some very fine tracks), and through the frames of the camera. The camera almost captures everything in the scene. The frame reveals everything per se. And that’s why Succession is the finest show on Television. I haven’t even started on the storyline and characters. Those are on another level! Writing, music, cinematography, acting, direction, editing. God, everything is perfected (for me).
Thank you Marc, for compiling some of the most compelling shots of the show!
Yes.
Kendall almost drowning in S3's penultimate episode was probably the most beautiful shot I've seen this year.
At first I wondered how a show like Succession, that uses quick zooms akin to the Office got approved to shoot on 35mm film. Already it's mad to think they managed to get a green light on shooting a series on 35mm in general. (I want to meet these kind of producers). But, it's so worth it.
With each episode, each new location and character arc, the visual language just got better and better. So glad I finally got in on this show.
I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for that production meeting.
Can you elaborate more on what is the problem with using 35mm film ti shoot succession ? I got curious, I don’t know nothing, I’m a layman
@@henriquedelben The majority of modern-day television shows don't shoot on film period. The reason being that it's insanely expensive to shoot on film so the producers clearly had a lot of faith in Jesse Armstrong and his vision.
Succession is unique in the sense that it’s entertaining “enough” for the mainstream audience and for it to be a big hit, but it’s also incredibly artistically well made. It has everything I love in a *proper film*, but it also has mass appeal.
1:51 foreshadowing, this show is phenomenal
woah
I just realized Tom was behind him too omg
Something I love that the writers, directors, and cinematographers have been drilling into us across all 4 seasons- An overarching theme that’s so obvious but never ever explicitly spelled out- These people are miserable.
Like, completely miserable, all the time, despite the ungodly amount of money they each control and continue to bring in. Even when something genuinely good happens to any of them- Kendall getting interim CEO, shiv getting offered the role by her dad, Tom and shiv getting engaged, etc- it’s always tainted by the fact that it’s given in an unhealthy way, or they’ve only gotten it because something horrible has happened.
The only way they’ve ever dealt with problems is throwing money at them, and so they’ve never really accomplished anything fulfilling. Yet the one thing they want- approval and real love from their father- is the one thing they can’t buy with money. This show is a modern tragedy.
Best show, from acting, to script, to visuals, to chemistry, down to the intro music, its just The Full Perfect Package.
I agree I am hooked had not finished it can't stop watching the acting is just brilliant
@@harshnainidid you finish yet? And what’s your top ten shows? I’d go
1. The wire
2. Game of thrones
3. Mr robot
4. Dark
5. The boys
6. Breaking bad
7. Succession
8. Stranger things
9. Sopranos
10. Mad men
@@raymondsims7042 unfortunately I didn't finish I'm starting college and I don't have time and I get tired so when I have time I watch stuff that is comforting like wrestling and sitcoms easy watch type stuff
@@raymondsims7042Pretty good list
@@Ereh729 what would be your top ten?
Brilliant OST, brilliant performances, beautiful cinematography.
This show is a mix of The Wars of the Roses, Falcon Crest, Dynasty, The Godfather, GoT and The Office.
This mix makes for one of the best soap opera-tinged dramatic satires of recent times. Beautiful work man!
I feel like the humor and camera work is more similar to Veep than the office
And House of Cards
The Office is in no way related to Succession someone already, said it’s way more similar to Veep.
@@droiddevx03 I didn’t? i said VEEP
@@droiddevx03 the finale was shit but I don't know why it's become popular to hate on even the earlier seasons of the show. They had good writing, good twists (those 2 things were the main reason the show had so many fans actively tuning in, the dragons were the marketing tool). It's not my favourite show but it used to be pretty great.
This show established a look and tone SO early on. I always thinks it's cool when a show that has so many directors manages to stay visually consistent.
They use the same cinematographer throughout the entire series.
What a brilliant show! The visuals, the writing, the acting, the characters, such a brilliant show. Thank you for this beautiful tribute! Subbed and Liked!
And the music
I’m the eldest boy
After watching 1st season I made Succession theme my ringtone (starting @ 3:04) and I haven't changed it till this day. Great TV-show.
Coming back to this after the finale is great.
We need a new version of this one
Succession's beauty and power lies in its raw docu kind of cinematography integrated around some wonderful staging. Wish you had highlighted more of those rather than more of its steady compositions and linear movements. Good video anyways
I'm not a big fan of the docu kind 😅
@@TheBeautyOf But thats the majority of the show. The shots you highlight in this video are rare and purposely seem more choreographed than the rest of the shots for dramatic effect in especially tense scenes. Thomas Flight's video explains the beauty of Succession's docu kind of cinematography well: ua-cam.com/video/_lU91279xZk/v-deo.html
@@TheBeautyOf There's a beauty in it..
@@TheBeautyOf then you dont understand the beauty of the show well enough. Be more open minded
Best show on TV. It's cool how many gorgeous shots they've snuck in despite its deliberately rough, handheld style of cinematography.
It is called Documentary style.
It's meticulous, precise, fascinating...Yet, the one thing from this show that blows me away is that...
Connor Roy was interested in politics from a young age.
He is the eldest son!
Possibly the greatest TV show ever ... when you consider the sheer amount of quality TV shows being produced over the last 5 years and this one stood out from the lot of them. Certainly up there with the likes of BB, TW and TS. God I will miss it. It's also one of the most rewatchable shows.
Not many people observe but the scale at which actors are shot in this show is exactly same as real life whenever there's hight difference between actors close up shots are used or either they are shot from lower angle to make hide hight and scale differences for example every Tom cruise movie you don't notice Tom cruise is short but every episode where you see Alexander skarsgard you can notice he's really tall
They did make Kendall small and scared when bodyguard of Logan steps into his office saying "I know you".
We actually need a final edition of this after last season
What a masterpiece. So glad I discovered this series.
(I'll never understand why some think Billions is comparable. Succession is light-years ahead.)
billions is another killer show. It's not about relationships sooo we can't compare
The final scene of S3 with Shiv, Kendall and Roman on the floor is also SO good👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Congratulations To Beauty Of.. I'm Biggest Avid Of This Series, It Seems Like Shakespeare Drama And Also Seems Like Godfather Thing. Especially Visuals & Music.. It's Absolutely Brilliant.. Characters Are Well & Perfectly Designed.. Thanks For Doing This One.
2:49 till end. my favourite part
Knew that Kendall on roof scene will make it nd also surprised on absence of his drowning scene.... and the main beauty of this show is it's writing 👌
the lonely kendall walks are piece of pure art
Superb! Succession's this season was a banger. Like the previous two.
I really enjoy the helicopter and motorcade scenes of this show. It's beautifully shot so much show I get chills.
yes, i love them so much, i want to watch a video with just those motorcade to heliport/airport, aerial helicopter, motorcade from heliport/airport to location shots
I did not see this coming. Wow, just wow. ❤️
1:52 this hits different after Connor's wedding
One of my favourite scenes is from toms telling his betrayal to greg. Somebody here on yt pointed out and very rightfully that the way the camera was shooting it looks like tom is proposing to greg, which also matches with the nero/sporus theme (that greg even mentions in that scene) and foreshadows his later betrayal ("killing" shiv by siding with logan and leaving her in the dust). At first I just thought the shot itself was beautiful but this new layer added a completely new meaning to it! That's why I love succession so much: there's more than what meets the eye
I didn't expect an animation from an online game and an "almost-comedy family tragedy", to catch my attention this year. At the turn of events I expected less, but only more came.
what's the animation you're talking about?
@@coscorrodrift super mario probably
EVERYTHING about this show is perfect: the acting, the writing, the soundtrack, the cinematography, the locations.
Was so sad when it faded to black at first but glad it came back with the catchiest theme song by the GOD Nicholas Britell! Such beautiful work for one of my favorite shows and the best show on TV right now.
Amazing work as always, can’t wait to see which movie/game/show you do next!
1:53 oh this was a sign
i love mkcu (miserable kendall cinematic universe)
Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live. Poke: Kendall Roy
After Classifying this channel as a Masterpiece now we need the beauty of THE BEAUTY OF.
And surely Succession is one of these Beauties.
The writing is so well done that you sometimes miss how beautiful the cinematography is. One of the best shows ever. Pure genius
One of these for every season of Succession. 🥺
This show is filmed as if a papparazzi was constantly trying to follow the characters
i don't think anyone has managed to capture the show's approach to family tragedy the way the beauty of has.
Haven’t seen this tv show, yet.
Just enjoy it’s soundtrack!!
I recommend it. It's the best show in years in terms of writing and acting. Give it a chance, you won't regret it. The last season was one of the best things I've ever seen on TV
The score definitely coveys a lot of the feeling and emotion in these shots as well. Absolutely brilliant.
Best show on television hands down
Each frame is beautifully demonstrated
My favorite TV show! I never get tired of its epic work, the Machiavellian characters, and the incredible soundtrack.
💛🧡💜
This show is ahead of its time and with wonderful music and cinematography I LOVE IT
There is a gorgeous shot in 1×1 when the shot from that kid's house cuts out with the lights in the building and the bridge-ughh absolutely stunning. And also loved this❤️
The beauty of succession is really beautiful.
No other show I can think of is more interesting than this .
Very intelligently created. Masterpiece.
What shall I say about this show. The story, acting, writing, setting, music, cinematography, and everything about this show is phenomenal. The show is breaking boundaries and setting new standards for satire and tragedy and bringing us the perfect representation of relations, emotions, power, and monopoly. It's a benchmark of writing and television experience.
you perfectly encapsulated the grandiose epicness that this show holds while maintaining a certain smallness that the characters can’t seem to escape. well done.
I sad for the people who don't know this series or the ones who still to come to this earth and gonna enjoy the full series in the future! Brilliant piece of work.
im so obsessed w succession's cinematography. hauntingly so beautiful. really unparalleled
1:52 is fucking crazy foreshadowing
Damn man you're right!!
Wow, didn't expect that you would make a video about this underrated series.
Underground? Maybe. But underrated? No way. Almost everyone who watches this loves it
@@tommckenzie Sorry, i meant to say that not many people know about this show.
Underrated?
Emmys: HAHAHA
undervalued maybe. It's getting recognition though.
I really love this show. It's so visceral, grounded, and Shakespearean in a way. This one's for the books. Truly!
the shot of season 1 roman getting off in front of his office window after getting promoted to COO...pure beauty.
This show has such underrated cinematography. It may have had the surface-level appearance of a typical mockmentary, but the composition and use of lighting would be completely impractical for an actual documentary setup. It was really about letting the camera be subjective and injects its opinion, granting "Succession" quite a distinct look.
Please make part 2 with the whole show now that season 4 is over.
After S4E9, I come to see this video once a day. But I can't accept the fact that it will end in one more episode
We need season 4 to be added into this. There are just so many beautiful cinematography in season 4. Especially during connor’s wedding, where the siblings on a call when their dad died. Also, america decides has great shots and of course, the finale as well.
They film this in FILM! The look of this series is just from another world. As a cinematographer myself I'm learning a lot with this series.
Amazing shots, amazing show, amazing production. Excellent workout and a masterpiece! Succession❤
That shot of Shiv at 1:27 is the most gorgeous shot they've ever gotten.
This should've been the official trailer for this series from start, bravo for your brilliant work.
yesss!! definitely one of my most favorite shows atm, i binged it in its entirety a month ago and absolutely can't wait for a new season, it's such a surprisingly impactful and emotional show with incredible writing! :)
The shot of shiv at her wedding going down the stairs and looking up at her stepmom always stuck out as exceptional to me.
All this money, all this power, and at the end of the show literally everyone is unhappy.
The music makes these beautiful shots even better.
1:52 not even intentional but crazy to watch in retrospect
The background score elevates some of the scenes to another level....
What is unique for me about the show is that they give you the chance to look at everything from the above, it’s like you are on the top and you have the power to control things. (When FBI goes to the building, normally I would panic, but when you are the decision-maker, you are not afraid cause you know it’s under control).
Here we are- season 4!!!
thank you for using the show's music. There is no other soundtrack that quite encapsulates the emotion of this show. Amazing.
i just love the soundtrack of that tv show
i cried.
Succession has the best music in the history of the series.
Naw lad that would be game of thrones but succession might be second. Although I absolutely loved some of the music on dexter
The first Sunday without Succession. This will have to do.
Was waiting for this one. Beautifully done. Thank you!
I guess this video would need a refresh with images from the season 4, just my 2 cents. Anyways, it's a great video to enjoy.
The best line of Logan's? "I love you, raised you, gave you everything you wanted...but you are horrible people" They dragged him through the mud.
This is sensational. Thank you!
Here after seen the final episode 😢😢😢
Basically saying this:
Money doesn't buy happiness
It never has
Never will
And if you become a slave to it
You'll work your whole life
For almost nothing...
Absolutely brilliant show
2:39 I feel that
That damn drum break hits so hard. Nice video btw.
Incredible cinematography. Thanks for this.
Love the first part, the most important one... you were a bit less inspired in the second one. But it was trickier.
I don't know this show, but this video triggers my biggest fear. Being Successful, Working hard, Sacrificing time with loved ones, Ending up full of success but Full of Regret and Loneliness. I'd rather live a poor life full of love and loved ones than die in one where I'm successful but alone.
A brilliant show in every aspect, one of the greatest TV series of all time, i dare to say that this is on the same level as Breaking Bad & Game of Thrones, and i would gladly say that HBO > NETFLIX
You don't have to say HBO > Netflix , Everyone knows that , Netflix can't touch HBO😈
@@valyrian8090 Mindhunter not only did he touch in Game of Thrones, he's brilliant in many ways and consistent in comparison to GOT.
And Arcane is doing a huge hit with Succession and you can say it's anything, but just the video here from Beauty of already shows that it will be your opinion.
@@giulyanoviniciussanssilva2947 Well,. Netflix has created some of my favourites like arcane, house of cards and narcos but still HBO's shows gives the vibes that Netflix can't , so obviously for me HBO >>> Netflix🤙🏻

The third season, especially the last part, was a better game of thrones than the entierity of Game Of Thrones, books included.
They understood what made the essence of these kinds of conflict, the deep relationnal and personnal stakes that were completely ditched in the second half of GoT.
