Definitely the prettiest car on the track, but he could not reel in the Austin Healey 100! Easily the most expensive car on the grid also, probably why he didn't push it harder.
Going by the sound, there was a v-8 of some sort in the Healey. Could be mistaken but I was surprised each time the mic picked up on them as they drove past.
The thing is, this is the practice session. Their lap times would determine their grid positions in the race. The Maserati qualified higher up than the Healey, so I'm guessing that the driver decided not to try to fight the Healey, instead to fall back a bit to give himself a clearer road ahead the next lap. The Healey if I remember the livestream correctly, stayed somewhere in the top 10, fighting a Jaguar C Type until the engine gave up. The Maserati in this video, however, is a different matter. the car occupied 3rd place for most of the race, attacking the second-placed Jaguar D Type many times, until the engine also gave up. His place is taken up by another Maserati driver in a much smaller Maserati 250S, who is really starting to reel the Jaguars in. If the race lasted much longer, he could've passed the 2nd placed Jaguar, or even hunted down the lead D Type as well!
What's with the drivers sawing away at the steering wheel? The cars look at the edge of control at all times, even on the straights. Oh wait. Wrong generation of cars. No active suspension, driver assist traction control, power steering, paddle shift, engine management... Obviously, I can't watch NASCAR, F1, or drag racing with any degree of regularity. If you aint Stirling Moss, or his fellow racers, "I aints-a-watchin.' " Great racing at it's best.
Enjoy all the benefits liberals gave you: 40 hr work week, overtime 1& 1/2 pay, workers comp, right to unionize & collective bargain, unemployment insurance, Social Security, Medicare, sick leave, federal deposit insurance on your savings account, Miranda rights, EPA pollution control, food safety, auto safety, outlawing child labor with mandatory K to 12 education, Gubment subsidized interstate highway system, Gubment subsidized airlines helping grow air travel, and the socialist US military (a giant security guard company owned by the Gubment which is the definition of socialism). Yeah those liberals sure are F**ked up. Go back 100 years and the conservative capitalists would send you down a mineshaft, give you black lung disease, and give you a sack of flour and a rented company shack. You're on easy street now because liberals stopped big businessmen from screwing you up your butt. You are a dimwit who doesn't know how bad and hard things used to be.
I love the way the Austin Healey driver is throwing his car into the corners.
The beauty of these cars are just outstanding.
beautiful cars and great sound. Would love to watch these in person.
In my opinion, this trident is the most beautiful racing car of its time.
Glorious car

A ecoterrorist/liberal/socialist/collectivist/communist has a heart attack each time you hear one of these cars.
