One just can't beat the sound of old-school. I have a 48 that needs restoring. Bought it from someone that may have tried to make some sort of racer out of it. When I took the engine apart the connecting rods were lightened of sort. Perfect holes drilled in the connecting rods that may have gotten some extra RPM out of that 500 twin. May years ago, I've seen something like that but that may be an old-school trick I don't think I would have gone with. No matter, the frame is intact, the engine is there. Sadly, I never herd back as to the story about it. All contacts stopped. Can't beat the sound of a British bike or a Harley. Ok, I'll give you Ducati boys a heads up too. (chuckling) Ride safe, ride free.

Never drill out con rods, the hard work they do is unbelievable. Change the engine oil regularly. Greetings from Cornwall England.

@@exb.r.buckeyeman845 Greetings Buckeye, apology for my delay in responding. couldn't agree more with the oil changes on the air cooled engines. Over here in the Colonies people did weird things with engines for racing. If I ever get this 48 Triumph restored, I'd be a tad nervous using these connecting rods. I hate restoring things if I can't use them on a regular basis. Although with the low horsepower of that 48 here in the States I may have to keep those connecting rods and some sprocket changes to maintain 70+ MPH for several miles at a time. Think Autobahn. Theres so many better ways to add performance than poking holes in con-rods.

I know, I bought it that way. And no, I won't be using those rods I'll be going with sprocket changes to get a bit more top end. I want to keep it as original as possible.@@dubes5594

I'd prefer the look if it had a front mudguard. Nice bike though.

Hello, is this a 1948 Triumph Speed Twin with a 30's British girder? Or, is that a reproduction front end girder? Thanks & beautiful Triumph!

@@lorenzograssi2683 Thank you Lorenzo. Is it the India made reproduction? I'm thinking of buying a later Speed Twin, and then installing a 30's Girder. Have any inside on this Lorenzo? Also, what kind of ride(Rough?) with that rider? Thanks.
