BG Music:
He said instead of sleeping around you could have been in a true relationship with him. You are the first folks I've seen react to it. I love this song. THANKS!.
Great Canadian band and the first ever song from them I ever heard. Been listening to them ever since!! 👍🏻😃
APRIL WINE was definitely a GREAT BAND. If you were into Rock N roll , you definitely knew who they were back in the good ol days
Can't go wrong ever with this band! Underrated!!!
April Wine had two guitarists always playing, and often three when Myles Goodwin wasn't on the piano or just handling lead vocals. They always had a lot "going on" as a result, but they managed to layer it together so well, with Jim Clench weaving up , down and around on the bass. They don't get enough credit for the melodic wall of sound and rhythm that resulted.
Jerry Mercer on the drums was also kinda ridiculous even on a bad day, and he didn't have many bad days. Super tight rhythm section both (all three with the piano/keyboard) of whom could really open up and blow the roof off in their own right. Add the layered and often interleaved or harmonizing guitars and vocals into the mix and they just rock top to bottom and start to finish.
I've had the pleasure of seeing April Wine 5 times when I used to live in Montreal. They always put on an amazing show and Jerry Mercer gave one of the best drum solo's I'd ever seen. Over 20 minutes while he took us on a journey with his African bird calls and everything. Great reaction. Would love to see more from them. Peace and love.
Yes...absolutely one of our greatest bands up here in Canada..looking forward to you listening to more because u gonna like this banger and more, cheers
@UCdG9x-dwngzXjPECtJVjcCQ I'm not hooked up to telegram or that stuff yet please select another winner..keep up making the 👌 best reactions. Maybe some day u will do a reaction to Canadian Artist Ian Thomas...Pilot is a great start...remember growing up in the 70s when everybody's & Canada's favorite oldies station 1050CHUM RADIO that had all the hits going on,memories now.
Canada Rocks...
My favorite song of theirs is "Just between you and me".I also agree with the person who suggested "Sign of the gypsy queen".Both are great songs.
This was one of the staples of Canadian AM radio when I was growing up in the 70s. It's also got a bit of a Guess Who vibe because The Guess Who were THE biggest band in Canada then, so April Wine copped their sound to some degree and came up with their first big hit.
I really hear alot of Geuss Who influence on their 2nd album in particular. Myles voice on that really sounded a lot lile Burton Cummings.
OMG - one the t0 best Canadian songs ever recorded. WOOHOO! Okay, you have heard the masterpiece, now go back and focus on the bass groove Jim Clench is laying down. Unreal - what an underrated player he was. If you like him here try "Drop your Guns" for some melodic funky thunder.
That Bass makes the case.
April Wine has some great tunes. I'd suggest 'Cum Hear the Band, Drop Your Guns, Oowatanite, Rock n; Roll is a Vicious Game, Roller, Tonite is a Wonderful Time to Fall in Love or The Whole Worlds Going Crazy". All great tunes. Cheers.
It was written in '69 and released a couple of years later - fits right in to the "free love" promisuity era. Might be some chap who wants her but she isn't interested and has her own ideas who she wants to be with.
So, I think Brad nailed it, she's a player never short of playing partners.
Love april wine
Such a great band that I feel never got enough recognition.
In the U. S. They didn’t, except for their biggest hit album “The Nature Of The Beast” which sold very well down there! 😊
The version off of April Wine Live is an absolute killer. Not many people know this is a cover of a Hot Chocolate song.
I grew up with this band in the 70's in eastern Canada. Great Canadian Rock Band!
I have wondered about this tune since I could think.
Thanks for finally setting me straight dudes.
Brad & Lex, you'll love their "Sign of the Gypsy Queen"!
I like the original version by Lorence Hud.
Such an awesome band. So many hit songs.
Been listening to these guys since I was a little kid...so many great tunes.
This is a cover song by April Wine. it was originally written for Hot Chocolate in the UK in 1971. It never made it to the North American charts, until in 1972 a Canadian rock band (April Wine) from Nova Scotia took it and covered it in their way. "Could have been a lady" is based on the experience of one of the writers (Errol Brown) who had a girlfriend that failed to show up on dates. She was seen as a Lady of the Night later on. It is his sense of the fall of a woman's empty glamour and a life of prostitution.(copied)
Written by British band Hot Chocolate, the song was reinvented by April Wine and became the first of many classics from April Wine.
Hot Chocolate "Rocks"! I didn't know that was an original of there's.
I am amazed by the amount of covers I hear that I thought were originals. 😮
As soon as i heard it i immediatly thought of Hot Chocolate
Their album Nature of the Beast was awesome. Sign of the gypsy queen, just between you and me. Wanna rock, Big city girls. Lots of amazing music on the album.
Hardest rocking album of theirs and biggest seller in the U.S. !! 👍🏻
Can't believe you are listening to this April Wine song. It is my favorite but nobody choices this one. Cruising in the early 70's

April wine has so many fantastic songs. A couple of my favorites you guys should check out. "Child's Garden and Comin right down on top of me" . Both songs start out slowly but really rock. Both songs really showcase Myles Goodwin's voice
Great song
Great band from a great era. They were highly regarded but man, anyone who grew up in that era knows there were so many great bands all out at once.
One of Canada's great rock bands.
"You could have been a lady with me tonight, but you have listened to others that don't care about you" Is what I believe the song is saying
One of the great things about being a teenager in Montreal, in the 1970s and 80s, was that we were exposed to the best music, TV and movies from all over the world.
We got the U.S. television channels over the air with our rabbit-ear antennae, plus BBC and ITV TV comedies and dramas. We heard Rock and Pop music from the U.S., from Great Britain, from France, Germany, Italy, Holland, and many African countries, plus from Canada in French, English and even in Cree or other First Nations languages.
And our movie theaters showed films from all over the world. We got Spielberg and Scorsese, we got Veber from France, we got Quebecois cinema, plus European, Middle-Eastern, and South American and African films.
Montreal became a creative hub where artists in all fields gathered from all countries, to get a sense of the entire world's richness and wondrous creativity. For us locals, for the price of a beer, we could see a Rock show or an art gallery opening, or a film premiere or a video installation, that you in the U.S. couldn't dream about. It was even better than New York City, in some ways.
This song is amazing!
Neat choice! April Wine definitely doesn't get a lot of credit even though they had some serious radio time by the 1980's. These older songs on their catalog are almost unheard of these days.
Babes in Arms by April Wine is a jam!
Hello Brad and lex, April wine is definitely a band that doesn't get a lot of love they have certain hits here of the US but they were much bigger in Canada, If you like their songs check out from their 3rd album electric jewels, A song called lady run, lady Hide And there's also another good song on there called weeping willow That's really good they've had a ton of albums. Their 1st 1 was from 1971 and it's more psychedelic Which was the popular style of the time, And their last album was in 1984, They also had an album In 1986 but most people don't consider it their album because most of the band had left by them and been replaced by other members and there's a lot of saxophone instead of guitar, Keep up the great work And I really enjoy You guys is Reactions and the conversations we have about the music we listen to Keep going and have Great day or night.
Jesiah,from Kentucky.
She had a choice, she 'could have been' a lady, and stayed, 'patient'... instead, tho, she took the wrong path to her destiny... But, man... She could have been a lady...
APRIL WINE, is one of Canada's greatest gift's to the rock community... World Wide !!. Big hits, great live, and great and memorable lyrics.... Canada's 'Journey'... Love em !!!;
Maestro Fresh Wes - Let Your Backbone Slide
I've been waiting a long time for your response! Try Bad Side of The Moon!
How many of the April Wine "hits" were covers?
Lady, Bad Side, Gypsy Queen, Schizoid Man....any more?
@@trentmacdonald6283they did a Willy Nelson song later in their career
Myles Goodwyn, Did include a small handfull of cover songs, with April Wine. His songwriting talents will forever be written in thee Rock and Roll Archive's of North America. Charts will never have stats to support the love, we have for April Wine, and their place in Music history of North America. Canada Rocks, Cleveland Rocked April Wine.
"I feel sorry for everyone involved." 😂♥
Love Say Hello by April Wine
I've been listening to this song since '72 and never thought of what it was about. I think you're right Brad...she's on the streets when she could have had him (the singer).
Brad got it, writer Earl Brown, was waiting for his "Date" to show up for dinner, she no showed, and he found out later she was a lady of the evening. Hot Chocolate released it in 1969, this is April Wine's cover from 72 which went Top 10 in Canada, and also Top 10 in various areas of the USA, #2 in Cleveland, #5 in The Twin Cities and Dayton Oh. and #7 in Macon Georgia etc.
Brad gets a really focused look on his face about halfway threw the song haha.

My favorite April Wine song is "I'm on Fire For Your Baby".
"Sign of The Gypsy Queen" is good but I prefer the original by Lorence Hud.
Sign of the Gypsy Queen is my favorite by April Wine, but they have a lot of good songs.

Check out Weeping Widow also by April Wine
From my home town of Waverley.
Ladies Man, Before the Dawn, and Get Ready For Love are some lesser known but awesome AW jams.
Agree.
Harder Faster is my favorite by them.
Great old song from back in the day. Happy memories of youth! You still need to listen to "Burn" by Deep Purple 😊
They did it.
@@ssRocker-nn3tp Thank you. I'll look for it. These two have a lot of videos up, I must've missed Burn. I'll look for a few others too: (While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Muffin Man" by Frank Zappa w/Captain Beefheart, "The Song Remains the Same" from the movie. Others.
@@sbrenner2561 You,re welcome.
He's definitely being mr. Nice guy in this song
This was a rock cover of the British soul band Hot Chocolate's ( _I Believe In Miracles/You Sexy Thing_ ) original.
When was this done? I don't remember them doing April Wine in forever.
Best version of this Hot Chocolate original is by the. Newcastle funk band Smoove and Turrell. Not many covers that blow the original out of the park but they do!! Do yourself a favour and dig it out, we’ll worth the effort
Howdy couch gang 👋
u read all that in those simple short lyrics? wow hehe
You totally misunderstood lol See Thomas Frederick's comment. Good to see you finally go to April Wine.
I think you’d really like Spaceship Superstar by Prism
I would choose from t self titled album, Harder, Faster, and Nature Of The Beast. 3 awesome records.
first time i heard this band, trailer park boys movie
Greetings Brad & Lex, you guys rock. Lovely couple, God bless you both.
Say, can you please react to this song: “Jusqu’a toi” by Jean Pierre Posit?
Thanks and blessings to your and your family.
Movie Songs Stream would be cool. You could start with Robert Tepper's "No Easy Way Out" from - I believe it's Rocky IV, but it could be one of the other ones. The song was a few million views, if I recall correctly.
21st Century Schizoid Man
Groupies!
Nice😁🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
It's about a guy who likes a girl who is sleeping around with everyone, thinking she's popular. She could have been with him and respected like a lady.
