Apparently there was a lot of backstage drama with Darlene and her father, who made demands that Darlene either be given more money or more opportunities to shine. All in all, Darlene was indeed a better performer than Annette: she sang and danced better, and Darlene was a natural ham/clown. Nevertheless, Annette won over the viewers. Early on, it would seem that Disney thought Darlene would be a breakout Mousketeer: she starred in her own serial on TMMC "Corky & White Shadow" and she recorded several albums for the Disneyland record label. Annette did not get her own serial "Annette" until the last season of TMMC; by then apparently the relationship between Disney and Darlene's father had really soured to the point that a major role in Annette's serial - the part of a snooty rich girl - originally intended for Darlene was recast with Roberta Shore (who had guest-starred on TMMC but was considered "too tall/too mature" to be a Mousketeer). If you watch the "Annette" serial, it does seem odd to see the all the other female Mousketeers - Doreen Tracy, Sharon Baird and Cheryl Holdridge - in the supporting cast with Darlene noticeably absent.

Oh, that's a great observation! Yes, you're absolutely right. In the 1960 "Twilight Zone" episode titled "The Night of the Meek," Rod Serling's close friend and frequent collaborator, actor Art Carney, played the role of a down-on-his-luck department store Santa Claus named Henry Corwin. Towards the end of the episode, when Henry's life takes a magical turn, a mysterious character referred to as the "elf" appears. This "elf" was indeed portrayed by actor John Larrain, who made a brief but memorable appearance in that episode. It's always fascinating to discover these little details and connections within classic TV shows like "The Twilight Zone." Thanks for bringing it up!

I'm not sure what they're up to now, but maybe some other viewers can shed some light on this topic. And yes, it's important to stay inside as much as possible during this quarantine. Johnny Crawford & his brother Bobby fenced against each other in a season 1 Talent Round Up show. Ronnie Steiner tap danced with his brothers Rob & Roy on a season 2 Talent Round Up Day (all three were an act together both before and after the MMC). And as the person above me mentioned, Cubby O’Brien drummed with his father & brother on the first Talent Round Up Day.
