Back in the 1960s, I had a Wico magneto on a WW2 surplus lifeboat engine that was installed in our old 24', 1929 double-ended lapstrake boat "Corky". The engine was a Gray Marine Sea Scout 4-91. 4-banger. 25 HP. Smooth flywheel. No starter. No generator. You'd either kick or pull the flywheel over by hand. The impulse start feature was great! I miss old "Corky"!
I have my 1944 John Deere A timed like you have but it still has a hard time starting I have been told to check the timing marks on the inside of the mag I’m told it’s the start time where does it need to be set at
So I have rotated the magneto as far CCW as possible and it is still tripping a few degrees past top dead center. What Now? Every video and manual I can find all assume that when you adjust the magneto it will trip and fire at top dead center. I'm stuck as what to do because my 1950 B does not???? Any suggestions, or tell me where to find more info? Thanks, Jim
Is there a vid on how to lubricate this magneto I have a c wico type on my jd h I just got this thing home and she don't run... Any help be great thanks..

How do you find the timing make on the flywheel
if you got a good mag the shock is more than tickling if you feel it lol

Does wico magneto and wipac cj timing is the same.
Wish I could turn mine over that easy. I must have high compression.
Any Idea how much voltage a mag puts out vs a coil ?
I have Kvolt meter and most are in the 20K volt range. I don't know the average output for battery ignition coils. My guess is that it's similar.
ok what about the timing marks on the magneto its self where do they get set for a 1936 john deere b with the wico x
There are no timing marks on a magneto. Only on the tractor.
Yes there is
Timing mark on fly wheel
Let me know when too contact for sending few magnetos for servicing please.
Anytime! Call me and let me know please 651-233-6655
I’m not out there with my tractor but I understand where it’s at know I’m old so I forget easy
michael welcher, it is marked on your flywheel, right by where it says Left Hand Impulse, there is usually a dot or a line.
How much for an H4?
$225 exchange or $265 outright plus $15 shipping.
Sorry Bud, you might know mags but you don't know how to install them.
